Nas histórias da arte, da arquitetura e da cidade, toda denominação que se caracterize por uma identificação temporal ou estilística corre o risco de ser generalista e superficial. Assim, há algumas décadas, temos consciência dos proveitos mas também dos limites de algumas classificações como: a “cidade medieval”, a “cidade ideal”, a “cidade barroca”, a “cidade iluminista” etc., tanto pelo que resta excluído do nome quanto pelo que pode vir a residir dentro dele, quase sempre arbitrariamente. Acrescente-se, ainda, que uma denominação geralmente não oferece uma identidade semântica homogênea ou unívoca, uma concordância absoluta de entendimento para aqueles que se interessam por ela – essa cidade reificada por um epíteto ou pelo número de um século que, a bem da verdade e do rigor, só tem começo e fim nos calendários

Regularidade e ordem das povoações mineiras no século XVIII

This paper explains the colonial settlements of Minas Gerais, in the 18th century, the crucial period of their development, by using the notions of "Regularity" and "Order". These notions, as opposed to the majority of the concepts found on studies about Portuguese-American colonial cities, allow us to criticize some old historiographical myths, such as the spontaneity, irregularity and disorder of these settlements.O artigo apresenta as povoações da capitania de Minas Gerais a partir de noções de "regularidade" e "ordem" justamente consideradas no período crucial de suas formações, ou seja, na primeira metade do século XVIII. Estas são noções diferentes das que encontramos na imensa maioria dos estudos sobre a cidade colonial luso-brasileira desse e de outros períodos, que nos permitem criticar alguns mitos historiográficos há muito consolidados, como por exemplo o de que essas povoações seriam espontâneas, irregulares e desordenadas

A esthetic of imperfection: the thought of John Ruskin and the rural architecture in Santa Catarina

O presente artigo apresenta uma proposta de perceber a arquitetura rural edificada pelo artífice imigrante em Santa Catarina a partir do pensamento estético de John Ruskin. As concepções que formam o seu pensamento são tomadas à luz do conceito do fantástico paradoxo, uma chave de leitura bastante oportuna para evidenciar e reiterar características fundamentais daquela arquitetura, como a presença viva do labor humano, a imperfeição como virtude construtiva e a beleza pitoresca da paisagem edificada. A partir da análise de um conjunto arquitetônico construído em madeira, buscou-se compreender a presença do artífice construtor tanto no corpo mesmo do edifício resguardado em sucessivas gerações quanto na preservação de um saber-fazer de técnicas construtivas tradicionais transmitidas de pai para filho.This article presents a proposal to perceive the rural architecture built by the immigrant artisans in Santa Catarina, from the aesthetic thinking of John Ruskin. The conceptions that form his thinking are taken in light of the concept of the fantastic paradox, a key of reading quite opportune to highlight and reiterate fundamental characteristics of that architecture, such as: the living presence of human labor, imperfection as constructive virtue and picturesque beauty of the built landscape. From the analysis of an architectural set built in wood, we sought to understand the presence of the builder in both the body of the building sheltered in successive generations, and in the preservation of a know-how of traditional constructive techniques transmitted from father to son

TERAPIAS COMPLEMENTARES E INTEGRATIVAS: CONHECIMENTO E UTILIZAÇÃO PELOS DOCENTES DO CURSO DE ENFERMAGEM DE UMA INSTITUIÇÃO PÚBLICA

Enfermagem é uma profissão que cuida do ser humano com base em uma visão holística, sendo as terapias complementares e integrativas um meio de alcançar essa assistência. Essas terapias são regulamentadas pelo Ministério da Saúde, Portaria nº 971/2006 que aprova a Política Nacional de Práticas Integrativas e Complementares (PNPIC) no Sistema Único de Saúde. Este estudo objetivou identificar aspectos relevantes do conhecimento e utilização das terapias integrativas pelos docentes da graduação em enfermagem de uma instituição pública. Estudo de natureza quantitativa analítica descritiva do tipo corte transversal. População de estudo composta de 40 docentes do curso de graduação em enfermagem. Verificamos que 7,5% nunca ouviram falar sobre terapias complementares, 58,8% relataram que o meio de informação mais comum foi pela utilização pessoal e em familiares, homeopatia a mais conhecida, utilizada e indicada pelos docentes de enfermagem, 55% dos docentes estimulam o uso destas terapias entre os alunos, para 87,5% dos participantes da pesquisa estas terapias são regulamentadas pelo Ministério da Saúde, entretanto, nenhum citou a portaria nº 971/2006. Devemos perceber o homem em seu contexto “biopsicossociocultoespiritoenergético" para que, dessa forma, se alcance a integralidade na assistência, sendo as terapias complementares uma ferramenta ao dispor dos profissionais de saúde

Caracterização de painéis laminados colados produzidos com taliscas de bambu (Guadua magna) nativo do Cerrado

Panels were produced with strips of bamboo (Guadua magna) in layers crossed at angles of 90° and bonded with phenol-formaldehyde or PVA based resin, glued in three and five plies. The panels were tested and the physical and mechanical properties determined. The tests were primarily related to the commercial adhesives used as well as the number of layers of bamboo used. The density ranged from 0.690 to 0.768 g.cm-3. Panels bonded with PVA resin showed low mechanical strength, with MOR between 6.7 and 7.8 MPa. Those bonded with phenol-formaldehyde adhesive showed high strength, with modulus of rupture (MOR) ranging from 55.5 to 87.0 MPa, which is excellent for boards similar to wood-based panels. Panels with phenolic resin also had reduced thickness swelling, up to 8.4%. O urbanismo conveniente luso-brasileiro na formação de povoações em Minas Gerais no século XVIII

The settlement of villages in the old colonial province of Minas Gerais obeyed certain principles of what was considered decent, convenient and adequate. Such principles were based on rules, doctrines and habits inherent to the Luso-Brazilian architecture of that time. The historical analysis of these aspects leads to a critical review of some consolidated assumptions in historiography, such as the one for which the settlements aforementioned would have appeared in a spontaneous, irregular and disordered fashion. Because they are evident in the remaining settlements and period art treatises and documents, these aspects lead to the consideration of a true art of populating, based on certain values and habits, which we call convenient Luso-Brazilian urbanism.A formação de povoações na capitania de Minas Gerais no século XVIII estava condicionada a preceitos de decoro, conveniência e adequação. Esses preceitos constituíam regras, doutrinas e costumes muito relevantes à arte luso-brasileira de edificar arquiteturas e cidades naquele tempo. A consideração histórica desses aspectos nos conduz à revisão crítica de uma série de compreensões consolidadas na historiografia, como, por exemplo, a de que essas povoações seriam espontâneas, irregulares e desordenadas. Pela importância com que se evidenciam nas povoações remanescentes, nos tratados artísticos e nos documentos coevos, tais aspectos nos levam a cogitar em uma verdadeira arte de povoar fundamentada nesses valores e costumes, arte a que denominamos urbanismo conveniente luso-brasileiro

Cultura e desempenho organizacional: um estudo comparativo dos modelos de análise

O presente trabalho pretende apresentar um quadro comparativo no que se refere a alguns dos principais modelos de análise da relação entre cultura corporativa e desempenho organizacional, retratados pela literatura administrativa. O tema tem estado presente em um número considerável de publicações e vem despertando o interesse de acadêmicos e de organizações. Para a realização desse artigo utilizou-se o método da análise de conteúdo, descrevendo os diferentes métodos e indicando suas semelhanças e características relevantes, constituindo-se, assim, em uma tentativa de síntese dos principais aspectos abordados pelos métodos estudados, visando contribuir para um melhor entendimento do tema

Evaluation of the oxidative and inflammatory profile of patients with migraine

Among one of the most commonly seen and primary headaches is migraine. Oxidative stress and inflammation is discussed to be implicated in the pathogenesis of migraine. However, further knowledge about this issue is necessary because data are in part controversial and the possible underlying mechanisms remain inconclusive to date. To evaluate and compare the oxidative and inflammatory profile of patients with migraine 47 volunteers were divided into 3 groups: 15 women with chronic migraine (WCM); 17 women with episodic migraine (WEM) and 15 men with migraine (MM) and enrolled in this study.Total antioxidant status; the enzymatic activity of the antioxidant agents Catalase (CAT), Glutathione S-transferase (GST) and Superoxide Dismutase (SOD); oxidative stress markers malondialdehyde (MDA) and carbonylated proteins; blood count and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio; uric acid, c-reactive protein and cholesterol total and fractions were determined in pacients with migraine in the interictal phase. The group male participants (MM) displayed a reduction in total antioxidant status, as well as a lower value for antioxidant enzymes, but had no significant alterations in markers related to damage by oxidative stress compared to women. These findings suggest that there is a difference in the oxidative profile between the sexes among migraine patients. This may allow a better understanding of patients profile with different migraine phenotypes and identify new markers that might help understanding the pathophysiology and migraine patient management

Evaluation of inflammatory and oxidative profile in patients with recurrent wheezing

Wheezing is a clinical expression of numerous respiratory-related conditions. Although asthma is the leading cause of wheezing during childhood. The present study aims to evaluate the inflammatory and oxidative profile of pediatric patients with recurrent wheezing. Seventy-eight volunteers were divided into three groups according to their age (≤ 36, 36 to 72 and ≥ 73 months). Blood was collected for hematological evaluation, serum detections of total immunoglobulin E (IgE), and C-reactive protein (PCRus). The oxidative profile was evaluated by total antioxidant capacity (FRAP), malondialdehyde (MDA) and carbonylated protein markers. There was no significant difference in the IgE and PCRus levels among the three groups evaluated. However, a significant positive correlation was observed for PCRus with total leukocyte and with neutrophils for the group of patients ≥ 73 months of age. The intermediate age group presented significantly reduced FRAP values in the serum, while significant values of oxidative damage markers were observed in the group of patients ≥ 73 months of age. When determining the correlation between inflammatory and oxidative markers, only the ≥ 73 months group showed significant. The group ≥ 73 months stands out with significant alterations of the oxidative stress markers and their correlations with the inflammatory profile
