The practice of hijab fashion gains new meanings. Along with fashion, hijab is beyond religious and political meaning and appears as an object of consumption in Turkey. The effect on the purchasing decision process in Turkey may vary according to the family structure the role and status in the society and the environment of consumers. The convenience sampling method was used in the selection of 448 people to participate in the study. In the research, the survey technique, one of the quantitative research methods, was chosen as the data collection method. This paper has examined to determine the effect of religious attitudes of women wearing hijab on the choice of hijab fashion, type of purchase behavior and the moderating role of reference groups. Within the result of the study, when the relationship between the religious attitude, hijab fashion style and purchasing behavior is examined, it is found that internalized belief dimension affects religion-based purchase, planned purchase, and hijab fashion style. Significant relationships were found between the dimension of traditional religiousness, types of purchase, and hijab fashion style. Traditional religiousness affects, religion-based purchase socialized purchasing behavior, brand-based purchase, and hijab fashion style. When the relationship between dependent and independent variables are examined by participating in the moderating role of the reference groups, it is seen that family, friends and role models play moderating role in this relationship.

Large deformation object modeling using finite element method and proper orthogonal decomposition for haptic applications

Haptic Rendering has a wide range of application areas from entertainment to sur-gical simulations, from CAD/CAM to rehabilitation purposes. In each of these applications the main problem is the real-time performance of the overall system. The balance between realistic force reflecting object models and system performance is an important factor in hap-tic simulations. In general, two methods are used in haptic rendering: particle based and fi-nite element method based models. Although particle based methods are easier to implement and faster in computational manner, they have a limited capability to reflect the underlying mechanics. In order to obtain physically realistic models, finite element methods are widely used. Since finite element methods are computationally expensive further decomposition methods are applied to increase the real-time performance. In this work, two large deforma-tion object models are developed for force reflecting purposes and in order to increase the real-time performance, the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method is applied to the nonlinear models and performance increase in the overall system is investigated. By the use of finite element methods, proper orthogonal decomposition method is applied to the solutions of the large deflection problem of a beam. Even though the original structure behaves in a nonlinear manner, the POD method resulted in very accurate and fast solutions in real time. Experiments are carried out by using the haptic robot arm of Sensable Technologies. The numerical solutions and animations for haptic arm application will be presented

The main purpose of this study is to determine which attitudes are realized by adopting the consumer perspective and the green buying behavior. 492 public personnel working in Düzce province participated in the research with the survey method in 2019. "Green purchasing attitude and sensitivity" scale, which was adapted in the research, was used. Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis tests were used to determine whether there were statistically significant differences between consumers' green purchasing behavior and demographic characteristics. Binary logistic regression analysis was carried out to determine the relationship between the consumers' reading on the package or label of the product purchased at the time of purchase and their demographic characteristics. In line with the results obtained in the study, it was determined that general attitudes towards the environment differ according to the age, marital status, income level and term of office of the consumers. However, no difference was found between sensitivity to purchasing green products and demographic variables. While economic factors in purchasing green products differ in terms of gender, age, marital status, income and term of office of the participants, there is a significant difference only with marital status and educational status in terms of behavior towards environment. In terms of environmental responsibility, significant differences were determined in terms of gender, marital status and term of office. Also, there is only meaningful difference between the reading of the inscriptions on the packaging or label of the product and educational status. The findings of the study will contribute to the literature in terms of understanding how the green purchasing behavior and attitudes of public employees are shaped

    No full text
The denim garments, which are made with many different sewing patterns, are given the final appearance by applying industrial washing processes and these are turned into high value-added fashion products. In this study, denim fabric control performed in a textile company, washing department after weaving for one month was investigated and as a result, washing defects are examined by using statistical methods. Pareto analysis, cause and effect diagram, and P control graphs, which are statistical process control methods, were used to classify the defects seen as a result of quality control. In Pareto analysis, chemical repair (20, 52 %), blue floor (19, 86 %), chemical intensive (19, 56 %), light floor (10, 71 %), deep floor (7, 95%) are in first five places among 53 defects and account for 78, 6 % of total number of defects. Of the 53 defects encountered during the washing process, it is found that only five of these defects could be prevented during the washing process, thus reducing the total waste by about 80%. In cause and effect diagram, washing defects are divided into categories as chemical, foreground, intensity, repair, tinctorial and processual and sub-dimensions as causes are determined. In the Laney P control chart, all processes are determined under control.WOS:0006102424000062-s2.0-8509586795

    No full text
The most successful technique used to obtain haploid plant in pepper is anther culture. The chromosome content of haploid plants can be doubled spontaneously or using colchicine. In this study, we compared the rate of spontaneous doubled haploidy of different pepper types. Seven charleston, six bell, eight capia, and seven green pepper genotypes were used as plant material. Murashige and Skoog (MS) nutrient medium with 4 mg.L-1 naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), 0.5 mg.L-1 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP), 0.25% activated charcoal, 30 g.L-1 sucrose, and 15 mg.L-1 silver nitrate (AgNO3) was used. Ploidy levels of plants obtained through anther culture were detected using both flow cytometry and simple sequence repeats (SSR) markers. The results showed that different spontaneous doubled haploidy rates were obtained from different pepper types. The highest rate was observed in bell pepper type with 53.4% (mean of six genotypes) of haploid plants undergoing spontaneous chromosome doubling. This was followed by charleston and capia types with 31.9% and 30.4% doubling, respectively. Green pepper type gave the lowest spontaneous doubled haploidy rate with 22.2% doubling. The results obtained from this study will be useful both for future work on haploidy in pepper and for breeding programs

Methods A prospective active before-after surveillance study was conducted to determine the effect of the INICC multidimensional approach in the VAP rate. The study was divided into two phases. In phase 1, active prospective surveillance of VAP was conducted using the definitions of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Health Safety Network, and the INICC methods. In phase 2, we implemented the multidimensional approach for VAP. The INICC multidimensional approach included the following measures: (1) bundle of infection control interventions, (2) education, (3) outcome surveillance, (4) process surveillance, (5) feedback of VAP rates, and (6) performance feedback of infection control practices. We compared the rates of VAP obtained in each phase. A time series analysis was performed to assess the impact of our approach. Results In phase 1, we recorded 2,376 mechanical ventilator (MV)-days, and in phase 2, after implementing the multidimensional approach, we recorded 28,181 MV-days. The rate of VAP was 31.14 per 1,000 MV-days during phase 1, and 16.82 per 1,000 MV-days during phase 2, amounting to a 46 % VAP rate reduction (RR, 0.54; 95 % CI, 0.42-0.7; P value, 0.0001.) Conclusions The INICC multidimensional approach was associated with a significant reduction in the VAP rate in these adult ICUs of Turkey.Foundation to Fight against Nosocomial InfectionsThe authors thank the many health care professionals at each member hospital who assisted with the conduct of surveillance in their hospital, including the surveillance nurses, clinical microbiology laboratory personnel, and the physicians and nurses providing care for the patients during the study; without their cooperation and generous assistance this INICC would not be possible; Mariano Vilar, Debora Lopez Burgardt, Santiago Suarez, Cecilia Cappelini, Denise Brito, Eugenia Manfredi, Luciana Soken, Dario Pizzuto, Yuan Ding, Katie Saunders, and Isaac Kelmeszes who work at INICC headquarters in Buenos Aires, for their hard work and commitment to achieve INICC goals; the INICC country coordinators (Altaf Ahmed, Carlos A. No full text
We herein present our first experience obtained by 3D freehand single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) (F-SPECT) guidance for sentinel lymph node detection (SLND) in two patients with early stage breast cancer. F-SPECT guidance was carried out using one-day protocol in one case and by the two-day protocol in the other one. SLND was performed successfully in both patients. Histopathologic evaluation showed that the excised nodes were tumor negative. Thus, patients underwent breast-conserving surgery alone.PubMe
