    Get PDF
Different samples of Mahseer (Tor putitora) were examined for the study of external morphometric characters of the fish. Slopes of log transformed data were used for comparison with an isometric slopes (b=1, b= 0.33 or b= 3). Relationships between wet body weight and external body parts lengths showed that increasing trend was found in all the parameters with the increase in wet body weight. Length of all the external body parts was also found to be increase with the increase in total length of the fish. Highly significant correlation (r = 0.9436) was found with negative allometric growth in the length-weight relationship. Wet body weight showed positive correlation with external body parts length and their weights. The relationship between wet body weight and the condition factor was found linear with no significant correlation, but with total length, it showed inverse relationship with highly significant correlation. This study will help to recognize the morphometric of different variants and to improve body weight for fish breeding and commercial growth.Key words: External morphometery, body size, condition factor, Tor putitor

Novel decision aid model for green supplier selection based on extended EDAS approach under pythagorean fuzzy Z-numbers

The main objective of this study is to identify the green suppliers that would most effectively assist manufacturing producers in implementing green manufacturing production while including uncertainty and reliability in their decision-making. For this firstly, we justify and manifest the idea of Pythagorean Fuzzy Z-numbers (PyFZNs). It has significant implications for improving the effectiveness of decision-making processes in several theories of uncertainty. It can more flexibly explain real-world data and human cognition due to its capacity to express imprecise and reliable information. Thus it is a more accurate mathematical tool for addressing accuracy and uncertainty. Secondly, we defined the Pythagorean fuzzy Z-number arithmetic aggregation operators and geometric aggregation operators. Thirdly, based on the proposed operators and EDAS (Evaluation based on distance from average solution) approach, a fast decision model is designed to deal with the issue of multi-criteria decision-making. Finally, using PyFZN data we also provide a numerical example to demonstrate the usability of the created multicriteria decision-making (MDM) approach. Moreover, a case study also proves its efficacy

AbstractSeveral chromosomal abnormalities detected by conventional cytogenetic analysis have an adverse impact on the outcome in myeloma patients. A wide spectrum of abnormalities involving chromosomes 1, 13, 14, and 17 has been described. We analyzed the outcome of 83 patients with clonal cytogenetic abnormalities, who underwent high-dose therapy and autologous stem cell transplantation for multiple myeloma at our institution. Clonal abnormalities were detected at diagnosis by conventional cytogenetic analysis in 83 patients. Patients underwent a single autologous transplant between April 2000 and May 2005. Preparative regimen was high-dose melphalan alone (73), or a combination of topotecan, melphalan, and cyclophosphamide (TMC = 10). The most commonly observed chromosomal abnormalities were deletion of chromosome 13 (32%), hyperdiploidy (21%), deletion of chromosome 1p (18%), and t (11; 14) in 7% patients. Median follow-up among surviving patients was 25.5 months. Median interval from diagnosis to autotransplant was 7.7 months (range: 2.5-52). Median progression-free survival (PFS) for the entire group was 19 months and the median overall survival (OS) was 52 months. On univariate analysis, both PFS and OS were significantly shorter in patients with deletion 1p (P = .001 and <.0001, respectively). Thirty-two patients whose cytogenetic abnormalities returned to normal prior to autotransplant had longer PFS and OS than patients with persistent abnormalities (P = .02 and .08, respectively). Deletion 1p is associated with a significantly shorter remission and survival in patients undergoing high-dose therapy and a single autologous transplant for myeloma

Physiological and anthocyanin biosynthesis genes response induced by vanadium stress in mustard genotypes with distinct photosynthetic activity

    Get PDF
The present study aimed to elucidate the photosynthetic performance, antioxidant enzyme activities, anthocyanin contents, anthocyanin biosynthetic gene expression, and vanadium uptake in mustard genotypes (purple and green) that differ in photosynthetic capacity under vanadium stress. The results indicated that vanadium significantly reduced photosynthetic activity in both genotypes. The activities of the antioxidant enzymes were increased significantly in response to vanadium in both genotypes, although the purple exhibited higher. The anthocyanin contents were also reduced under vanadium stress. The anthocyanin biosynthetic genes were highly expressed in the purple genotype, notably the genes TT8, F3H, and MYBL2 under vanadium stress. The results indicate that induction of TT8, F3H, and MYBL2 genes was associated with upregulation of the biosynthetic genes required for higher anthocyanin biosynthesis in purple compared with the green mustard. The roots accumulated higher vanadium than shoots in both mustard genotypes. The results indicate that the purple mustard had higher vanadium tolerance

Effects of antiplatelet therapy on stroke risk by brain imaging features of intracerebral haemorrhage and cerebral small vessel diseases: subgroup analyses of the RESTART randomised, open-label trial

    Get PDF
Background Findings from the RESTART trial suggest that starting antiplatelet therapy might reduce the risk of recurrent symptomatic intracerebral haemorrhage compared with avoiding antiplatelet therapy. Brain imaging features of intracerebral haemorrhage and cerebral small vessel diseases (such as cerebral microbleeds) are associated with greater risks of recurrent intracerebral haemorrhage. We did subgroup analyses of the RESTART trial to explore whether these brain imaging features modify the effects of antiplatelet therapy

Political connections and corporate financial decision making

    Get PDF
This paper investigates whether and how political connections influence managerial financial decisions. Our study reveals that those firms that have a politician on its board of directors are highly leveraged, use more long-term debt, hold large excess cash and are associated with low quality financial reporting compared to their non-connected counterparts. These effects escalate with the strength of the connected politician and whether he or his party is in power. The winning party effect is observed to be stronger than victory by the politician himself. Overall, our paper provides strong evidence that political connection is a two-edged sword. It is indeed a valuable resource for connected firms, but it comes at a cost of higher agency problems

mortality in patients presenting with Necrotizing Fasciitis. Methods: In this descriptive study, patients withNecrotizing Fasciitis were included. After resuscitation, the patients underwent emergency exploration andaggressive surgical debridement. Post-operatively, thepatients were managed with broad spectrum antibioticsand serial debridements. Patients who recovered withextensive skin loss underwent skin grafting subsequentlywith follow-up for 6 months to assess morbidity. Results: Twenty patients with Necrotizing Fasciitis wereadmitted during study period. Mean age was 57.4 years.Fever, painful swelling, redness, presence ofbullae/blistering, skin necrosis and foul smellingdischarge were the main clinical findings. DiabetesMellitus (DM) was the commonest predisposing factor.Sepsis (70%) was the commonest complication. The overallmortality rate was 30% however the most common cause ofdeath was acute Myocardial Infarction (MI). Partialthickness skin grafting was required in 50%. Musclecontractures were noted in 40% patients. Conclusion: Necrotizing Fasciitis, a rare but lifethreatening condition carries a definite mortality rate. Therisk factors for mortality are missed diagnosis, old age, diabetes mellitus and late presentation

Redefined “Maclaurin Symmetric Mean Aggregation Operators Based on Cubic Pythagorean Linguistic Fuzzy Numbers”

In this study, we highlight the errors in Sections 2.3, 2.4, 3, and 4 in the article by Fahmi et al. (J Ambient Intell Human Comput (2020). https://doi.org/10.1007/s12652-020-02272-9) by counter definitions and theorems. We find that the definition of cubic Pythagorean fuzzy set (CPFS) (Definition 2.3.1) and operational laws (Definition 2.3.2) violates the rules to consider the membership and nonmembership functions, and then, we redefined the corrected definition and their operations for CPFS. Furthermore, we redefine the concept of cubic Pythagorean linguistic fuzzy set (CPLFS) and their basic operational laws. In addition, we find that Sections 3 and 4 (consist of a list of Maclaurin symmetric mean (MSM) and dual MSM aggregation operators) are invalid, and then, we redefined the list of updated MSM and dual MSM aggregation operators in correct way. Finally, we established the numerical application of the proposed improved algorithm using cubic Pythagorean linguistic fuzzy information to show the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed technique
