Prices of Agricultural Products and Poverty: How Strongly are the Two Linked?

Prices of agricultural products and poverty relationship are the two types of standing issue to solve. This paper tries to argue that price of agricultural products (hereafter, agricultural price) and poverty are strongly related. We employed Correlation (intermediate step) and Path (final step) in the analysis procedure. The results show that, first, the association degree between agricultural input (note as well, that price is crucial factor to get input) with poverty approaching 70%, indicating that agricultural input is good-fit in explaining poverty.  Second, the higher the frequency of getting agricultural extension, and price information for various inputs (and output) in agriculture, the higher the crop productions (agricultural sector, in broad sense) will be gained.  This indicates these two variables (inputs-outputs prices) can also be expected to be important instruments in increasing smallholders’ income and in turn help them living above poverty line.  Farmers household income is strongly affected by prevailing market price. Agricultural price is functioning as intermediate part of income calculation. It is clear that price of agricultural products has a strong linkage with rural poverty alleviation in the country

Dampak Redenominasi Rupiah terhadap Penyajian Laporan Keuangan Audited

The purpose of this study is to see the impact of the redenomination of the rupiah on the presentation of audited financial statements. The research was conducted on auditors who work at Public Accounting Firms in Makassar. The data analysis method used is descriptive qualitative, the data collected from interviews will be processed and explained with reference to the literature study that has been done, then analyzed with three components, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. SYMBOLISM IN NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE’S THE HOUSE OF THE SEVEN GABLES

This study elaborates the tragic life of a family caused by bad impact of the past wrongdoing, as depicted in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The House of the Seven Gables using symbolism approach. The aim of this study is to find the core idea as well as message in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The House of the Seven Gables by analyzing the symbols in his novel. This study belongs to qualitative study. In this method, there are two types of data source used by the researcher, namely primary and secondary data sources. The primary data source and the object of the study is the novel The House of the Seven Gables itself, meanwhile the secondary data source are some information about The House of the Seven Gables, the author’s biography, some books and articles related to the subject. The researcher collects the data from primary and secondary data sources in a sort of document as evidence. The study uses the library research to collect the data. The collected data are analyzed by means of descriptive analysis. Having analyzing this novel, the writer draws conclusions as follows: first, a literary work involves the response of the author toward the experiences of their life. Second, Nathaniel Hawthorne criticizes that every people’s bad action will get punishment and the wrongdoing itself not only will bring bad impact for them but also for the others

Poverty-Agriculture Institutional Nexus in Indonesian Rural Area

Poverty-agriculture institutional nexus still becomes serious issue in developing countries and Indonesia is no exception, especially for cocoa smallholders development. Poverty trap for cocoa smallholders is a result of: (i) low quality of human resources, (ii) lack of agricultural assets, (iii) lack of access to social facilities, information and communication, and (iv) lack of income gained in economic activity. All this, however, cannot be separated of the weak role and inter-agency coordination, indicating the weak of smallholders institutional. By employing an Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM), the research objectives are; (i) identifying the role of institutions in agriculture institutional, (ii) assessing the interest of education and training materials in smallholder development. The central point of ISM results show that, (i) Local Office for Forestry and Estate (Hutbun), (ii) Local Field Extension Officer for Plantation (PPL), and (iii) Marketing Institutions are the key institution actors in strengthening agriculture institutional of cocoa smallholders. This leads us to argue that maximizing the role of Hutbun, PPL, and Marketing Institutions could help smallholder institutional development, improving welfare in other words. Similarly, the role of education and training is also needed in helping smallholders. ISM results revealed that, materials set of (i) post-harvest management, (ii) marketing, and (iii) provision of agriculture inputs are the key elements in educating smallholders. An important implication of this finding is that, introducing materials of post-harvest management & fermentation, agriculture input provision, and marketing aspect in educating and training smallholders, could become a potential way to strengthen agriculture institutional towards cocoa smallholders welfar

Arsitektur dan Permukiman Kelompok Sosial Terpinggirkan di Kota Kendari (Perspektif Kebudayaan Kemiskinan)

Arsitektur suatu wilayah permukiman dapat menunjukkan baik buruknya keadaan sosial, ekonomi dan budaya dari masyarakat yang bermukim di situ. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui dan memahami penyebab kesemrawutan permukiman terpinggirkan; dampak negatif dari kesemrawutan tersebut; dan solusi untuk penataan arsitektur permukiman tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyebab kesemrawutan penataan ruang dan kondisi lingkungan kelompok sosial yang terpinggirkan di Kota Kendari adalah kelompok yang luput dalam perencanaan perkotaan dan fasilitas konstruksi. Selain itu, sosial ekonomi, yang ditandai dengan pekerjaan di sektor informal, rumah semi-permanen untuk hidup maupun untuk bekerja (industri rumah) yang terletak dekat dengan pusat kota, dan limbah yang tidak sehat, memberikan konstribusi akan kondisi tersebut. dampak negatifnya adalah mengubah nilai estetika kota, kesehatan masyarakat menurun dan menyebabkan tekanan sosial dan remaja. This article discusses the phenomenon of grounding the interpretation of the Qur'an in Indonesia by focusing on M. Quraish Shihab as a modern-contemporary interpreter who successfully interprets the Qur'an in written and oral form. The important location of M. Quraish Shihab in grounding the interpretation of the Qur'an lies in his efforts to interpret the Qur'an with language that is easy to understand but has high quality content. This makes M. Quraish Shihab always an important reference in the interpretation of the Qur'an in Indonesia, both among Al-Qur'an scholars and ordinary people. Tafsir Al-Misbah is evidence of success in grounding the interpretation of the Qur'an in Indonesia, both in the form of commentaries and studies. Kitab Tafsir Al-Misbah is the work of Phenomenal M. Quraish Shihab in simplifying the language of its interpretation, having previously been considered to be rambling on Kitab Tafsir Al-Qur'an 'Al-Karim. Meanwhile, the "Kajian Tafsir Al-Misbah" was born as an effort to maintain the understanding of the Qur'an by experts, so that the public gets enlightened understanding of the Qur'an by people who are truly in their capacity as interpreters of the Qur'an
