La crítica de la economía política en Las palabras y las cosas: una lectura de Michel Foucault a partir de Moishe Postone y Robert Kurz

This article begins with an analysis of Michel Foucault's account of the introduction of the concept of labour into classical political economy. I argue that his analysis coincides with the historical specification of the concept of labour that is required by new interpretations of Marx's theory such as those of Moishe Postone and Robert Kurz. Moreover, such convergence offers similar conclusions about the functioning of capitalist society through the objectification of forms of social practice. In the remainder of the article I argue that Foucault's approach in the specific field of knowledge, far from presenting an analytical deficit, can yield important results, precisely because it withholds the link with both social processes and psychological dispositions, when investigating the epistemic mechanisms that condition theoretical activity. This approach is complementary to the focus on commodity fetishism privileged by Postone and Kurz. El presente artículo analiza, en primer lugar, la exposición que realiza Michel Foucault acerca de la introducción del concepto de trabajo en la economía política clásica. Se argumenta que su análisis coincide con la especificación histórica del concepto de trabajo que exigen nuevas interpretaciones de la teoría de Marx como las de Moishe Postone y Robert Kurz. Dicha coincidencia ofrece, además, conclusiones similares acerca del funcionamiento de la sociedad capitalista a través de la objetivación de las formas de práctica social. En segundo lugar, se plantea que el enfoque de Foucault en el ámbito específico del saber, lejos de suponer un déficit analítico, también puede ofrecer importantes rendimientos, precisamente por poner en suspenso la vinculación tanto con los procesos sociales como con las disposiciones psicológicas, a la hora de investigar los mecanismos epistémicos que condicionan la actividad teórica. Tal investigación resulta complementaria con el enfoque en el fetichismo de la mercancía privilegiado por Postone y Kurz.

Documento de consenso sobre el abordaje de la hiperpotasemia

Resumen: La hiperpotasemia es una alteración electrolítica frecuente con consecuencias potencialmente graves a corto, medio y largo plazo, tanto en términos de morbilidad y mortalidad como de consumo de recursos del Sistema Nacional de Salud. El abordaje de la hiperpotasemia por diversas especialidades médicas y la reciente disponibilidad de nuevos tratamientos farmacológicos específicos hace necesaria una acción unificada y actualizada. El presente documento de consenso entre las sociedades científicas más directamente implicadas en el abordaje de la hiperpotasemia (Sociedad Española de Cardiología, Sociedad Española de Endocrinología y Nutrición, Sociedad Española de Medicina Interna, Sociedad Española de Medicina de Urgencias y Emergencias y Sociedad Española de Nefrología) repasa, en primer lugar, aspectos básicos del balance de potasio y de la potasemia, centrándose posteriormente en el concepto, epidemiología, fisiopatología, y abordaje diagnóstico y terapéutico de la hiperpotasemia. Se han revisado las evidencias y los principales estudios publicados con el objetivo de que sea una herramienta útil en el abordaje multidisciplinar del paciente con hiperpotasemia. Abstract: Hyperkalaemia is a common electrolyte imbalance with potentially serious short-, medium- and long-term consequences on morbidity and mortality rates and the use of national health service resources. The fact that different medical specialities can manage hyperkalaemia makes it important to have a unified approach, and the recent availability of new specific drug treatments means that the approach needs to be updated. This consensus document from the scientific societies most directly involved in the management of hyperkalaemia (Sociedad Española de Cardiología [Spanish Society of Cardiology], Sociedad Española de Endocrinología y Nutrición [Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition], Sociedad Española de Medicina Interna [Spanish Society of Internal Medicine], Sociedad Española de Medicina de Urgencias y Emergencias [Spanish Society of Emergency Medicine and Emergencies] and Sociedad Española de Nefrología [Spanish Society of Nephrology]) first of all reviews basic aspects of potassium balance and blood potassium. Then it goes on to focus on the concept, epidemiology, pathophysiology and diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to hyperkalaemia. The available evidence and the main published studies have been reviewed with the aim of providing a useful tool in the multidisciplinary approach to patients with hyperkalaemia

Intravenous iron, functional recovery and delirium in patients with hip fracture. FEDEREF study. Single-centre randomised, placebo-controlled, and double-blind clinical trial. 2014-001923-53: EudraCT number

There are no previous studies evaluating the effect of intravenous iron therapy on functional and cognitive status of patients with hip fracture (HF). A single-centre randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind and parallel treatment, clinical trial has been designed to assess the efficacy of intravenous iron therapy during the peri-operative period in elderly patients suffering from a HF. Blinding will be ensured by the packaging of the drug infusion system. On days 1, 3, and 5 from admission, the intervention group will receive 200mg Venofer® (iron sucrose) diluted in 100ml saline, and the control group 100ml saline, also on days 1, 3 and 5. Patients will received conventional treatment in ortho-geriatric unit of the Hospital Infanta Sofia. Functional variables (activities of daily living and walking), cognitive (cognitive status and delirium), surgical, demographic and clinical characteristics will be collected during admission in order to assess the impact of treatment. A safety analysis of the treatment will also performed. Patients will be followed-up at 3, 6, and 12 months. The study will attempt to provide evidence on the impact of the intravenous iron administration on functional recovery. It will be determined whether iron therapy negatively affects the incidence of post-operative delirium. Finally, report will be presented on the safety data of intravenous iron in elderly HF patients, as well as the impact on allogenic blood transfusion savings.
