Photovoltaic Energy to Face an Earthquake

The application of photovoltaic technology is necessary to reduce the harmful effects of an intense earthquake in the city of Portoviejo. It is based on the information obtained about the occurrence of the earthquake on April 16 and considering data from other events of the same nature occurred in the territory, an assessment of the seismic risk for the city and by characterization of one of the zones is made subject to danger, the introduction of photovoltaic luminaires is proposed in order to provide certain strengths that can facilitate the work of the first urgency in the rescue and urgent repair of breakdowns, as well as the evacuation of the population to safer areas especially at night. An analysis is made of the technological structure of photovoltaic luminaires and the prices they have in the market, both internally and Internationally

Questions, conjectures, and data about multiplicity lists for trees

We review and discuss a number of questions and conjectures about multiplicity lists occurring among real symmetric matrices whose graph is a tree. Our investigation is aided by a new electronic database containing all multiplicity lists for trees on fewer than 12 vertices. Some questions and conjectures are familiar and some are new, and new information is given about several. (C) 2016 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved

Microgrids Views From a Geographic Information System

Currently, Ecuador advocates a change in the energy matrix, academic centers should develop a strategy that allows them to short and medium-term training specialists give technical responses to this proposal it must create the conditions in college so that future generations be able to link the processes of investment in energy with the territorial space. The Technical University of Manabí (UTM) has proposed a research project funded by the National Secretary of Planning and Development of Ecuador (Senplades), aimed at boosting sustainable energy solutions that are based on the technical philosophy of microgrids with the use of renewable energy sources (RES). In this paper the spatial information related to solar energy potential of the province of Manabí, Ecuador\u27s, managed by a geographic information system (GIS) as an integration tool that provides information on objectives that interact with microgrids shown, also the importance of its use as a management tool projects related to the use of RES and instrumentation aimed at ensuring innovative solutions to support the change of energy matrix from a territorial perspective is exposed

The Future of Micro-grids in Ecuador

An analysis is made on the development of power lines worldwide and that offer the approaches of the impacts that are generated in the economic and environmental, which justify the application of smart grids in Ecuador, as an effective way to raise the efficiency of the electric power service and to achieve a more efficient use of the energy that is generated by showing the different technologies used in electricity generation where renewable energy sources are incorporated. A comparative analysis of how the installed generation power has been increasing until 2016 is shown

A Scoping Review of the Roles, Training, and Impact of Community Health Workers in Oral Health Supplemental Tables

Objective: To synthesize English or Spanish-language literature on community health workers’ (CHWs’) roles, training, and impact in oral health. Basic research design: A scoping review conducted in accordance with the Arksey and O’Malley (2005) methodological framework. Method: Electronic literature searches were conducted in Medline (Ovid), Embase (Ovid), DOSS, CINAHL, Web of Science, and Global Health CAB from inception of the databases to April 2020. Three reviewers independently conducted the title and abstract and full-text reviews. This was followed by data charting by three reviewers and data summarizing by two reviewers. Results: Out of the 36 articles that met the inclusion criteria, most took place in the United States (n=15) with most published between 2012 and 2019 (12). CHWs were incorporated in programs that focused on access to dental care (n=10), oral health promotion only (9), early childhood caries (8), oral health promotion and services (5), and oral cancer screening (4). Common roles included providing oral health education and behavior change motivation to community members, facilitating utilization of dental services, and the delivery of diagnostic and dental services to community members. Training and outcomes were not consistently described across studies. Conclusion: CHWs have been used in oral health programs and interventions across a wide range of locations and contexts. The implementation and scaling-up of oral health CHW programs requires appropriate provision of training as well as community embedded monitoring and evaluation structures based on rigorous methods with clearly defined outcomes

Characterization of p38α signaling networks in cancer cells using quantitative proteomics and phosphoproteomics

p38α (encoded by MAPK14) is a protein kinase that regulates cellular responses to almost all types of environmental and intracellular stresses. Upon activation, p38α phosphorylates many substrates both in the cytoplasm and nucleus, allowing this pathway to regulate a wide variety of cellular processes. While the role of p38α in the stress response has been widely investigated, its implication in cell homeostasis is less understood. To investigate the signaling networks regulated by p38α in proliferating cancer cells, we performed quantitative proteomic and phosphoproteomic analyses in breast cancer cells in which this pathway had been either genetically targeted or chemically inhibited. Our study identified with high confidence 35 proteins and 82 phosphoproteins (114 phosphosites) that are modulated by p38α, and highlighted the implication of various protein kinases, including MK2 and mTOR, in the p38α-regulated signaling networks. Moreover, functional analyses revealed an important contribution of p38α to the regulation of cell adhesion, DNA replication and RNA metabolism. Indeed, we provide experimental evidence supporting that p38α facilitates cancer cell adhesion, and showed that this p38α function is likely mediated by the modulation of the adaptor protein ArgBP2. Collectively, our results illustrate the complexity of the p38α regulated signaling networks, provide valuable information on p38α-dependent phosphorylation events in cancer cells, and document a mechanism by which p38α can regulate cell adhesion.Copyright © 2023 The Authors. The natriuretic peptides are a family of hormones that play a primary role in the regulation of the cardiovascular and renal homeostasis.
