    A Review of Agency and Structure: Where does Rorty’s Ironist Stand?

    This paper intends to reread what Richard Rorty introduced as ironist in the context of one of the most contested topics in the realm of social sciences; i.e. agency and structure. Rorty maintains that ironist is the potential citizen of utopian liberal democracy. An ironist, in his words, is a person who a) has radical and continuing doubts about the final vocabulary she currently uses, b) realizes that argument phrased in her present vocabulary can neither underwrite nor dissolve possible doubts, and c) she does not think that her vocabulary is closer to reality than others. The main question of this study is where this conscious subject stands within the context of agency-structure dispute. First, relevant literature on the dichotomy is going to be examined, and then, while discussing other relevant terms in his philosophy, this paper will show how Rorty solves the agentic problem of his ironist with his introducing of the public-private distinction

    Existence of solutions for some classes of integro-differential equations via measure of noncompactness

    In this present paper, we introduce a new measure of noncompactness on the space consisting of all real functions which are nn times bounded and continuously differentiable on R+\mathbb{R}_+. As an application, we investigate the problem of the existence of solutions for some classes of the functional integral-differential equations which enables us to study the existence of solutions of nonlinear integro-differential equations. In our considerations we apply the technique of measures of noncompactness in conjunction with Darbo's fixed point theorem. Finally, we give some illustrative examples to verify the effectiveness and applicability of our results

    4-aminopyridine decreases MPTP-induced behavioral disturbances in animal model of Parkinson’s disease

    Background and purpose: Progressive degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the midbrain is the main mechanism of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Although potassium channels affect neural activity and death in this area, little research has investigated the effect of potassium channel blockers, such as 4-aminopyridine in the pretreatment of PD.Methods: Fifty-six healthy male Wistar rats were selected for this study. They were divided into seven groups according to receiving saline or 4-aminopyridine, receiving a low or high dose of 4-aminopyridine and receiving 4-aminopyridine for short or long periods. Apomorphine-induced rotational test, elevated body swing test and rotarod test were done to examine behavioral performances.Results: 4-aminopyridine could not completely block behavioral disturbances induced by MPTP, however, it decreased them in all behavioral tests. Long administration of 4-aminopyridine was more effective than short administration in lowering behavioral disturbances. Although high dose of 4-aminopyridine was more effective than low dose in initial trials of each behavioral test, there was no difference between them in the last trial.Conclusion: Long administration of low dose of 4-aminopyridine is the best way to lessen behavioral disturbances induce by MPTP and also avoiding side effects of high dose of 4-aminopyridine.

    Two Efficient Meta-Heuristic Algorithms for the Robust Inventory Routing Problem with Backhaul

    The inventory routing problem (IRP) involves the integration and coordination of two components of the logistics value chain: inventory management and vehicle routing. Therefore, consideration of this issue can be effective in decision making of the organization and will lead to lower costs or other goals. Our objective in this article is to examine a new inventory-routing model and solve it with meta-heuristic methods. For more flexibility of the model, and approaching the real world, the model of this article is considered multi-period and multi-product. Also, two objective functions, including minimizing system costs and transportation risk, are included in this model. Given that the main parameter of the model, that is, demand, is uncertain, we have used a robust optimization approach to solve it, and since this model is in the classification of NP-Hard problems, we have used two meta-heuristic algorithms consisting of non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) and a multi-objective imperialist competitive algorithm (MOICA). By examining the model in two deterministic and robust conditions, according to two criteria, the mean values of the objective function and its standard deviation, it has been determined that in almost all cases, the robust optimization model produces better solutions. Also, between the two meta-heuristics method, the NSGA-II algorithm has shown better quality according to the mentioned criteria. Obviously, taking into account the different features of a model increases its efficiency. But this, obviously, makes the model even more complex. However, this complexity of models can work like a real system. Our attention in this article has been to this subject. To analyze such models, exact methods do not have the required performance and paying attention to heuristic and meta-heuristic methods is very effective. In this paper, a robust optimization and meta-heurictic approaches focus on these goals
