The nontillage system has attained two million hectars in the State of Paraná, Brazil, in the last years, but one of the most important problems was the lack of suitable seeders to basaltic clay soils. Therefore, MAGNUM 2850 PD was studied as for energetic requirement and operational performance in order to fit it to the reality of the State of Paraná. It was observed that the traction power varied in function of moisture and of mechanical characteristics of the soil, and attained high values and high power demand in maximal situations – around 79.5 kW of the tractor. The soil coulter openers showed a good performance in cutting the vegetal and in depth uniformity of work; but they also showed a big mobilized area in the furrow. Good sowing quality was obtained, which was evaluated by the percentage and velocity of seed emergence in the field. Errors in seed quantity and deposition losses were identified, mainly in the acceleration speed of 8.0 km/h; but the transversal uniformity of seed deposition in the field was good

Viral etiology represents less than 1% of acute pancreatitis (AP) in adults, even rarer if associated with varicella-zoster (VZ), having poor prognosis especially in immunocompromised. Reported 77-year-old male at emergency, with 24 hours of strong epigastric pain. Clinical signs with laboratory and imaging tests diagnosed AP. After clinical treatment, was discharged at 6th day. At follow up, exams excluded differential etiological diagnoses and, with the three mild annual herpes zoster crises, IgG strongly reactive for VZ virus and lumbosacral lesions, hypothesized herpetic pancreatitis. Herpetic AP in immunocompetent emphasizes thorough examination for etiological identification and better treatment targeting at emergency

    Get PDF
Irrigation is a technique with high potential to increase crop yield, however, it is necessary to evaluate the energetic efficiency of irrigated agriculture. So, this study aimed at evaluating the irrigation impact on grain yield and energetic balance of two castor bean cultivars submitted to supplementary drip irrigation with different water depths. The experiment was conducted in a clayey Dystrophic Purple Latosol, in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil. The experimental design was randomized blocks in a bifactorial scheme, with five water depths (0%, 25%, 50%, 100% and 150% of evapotranspiration for localized irrigation) and two castor bean cultivars (IAC 2028 and IAC 80), with four replications. The irrigation interval was of up to two irrigations per week, except for the days when rainfall occurred. Crop yield and the relation energy produced in the form of grains/energy used in cultivation were evaluated. It was concluded that the supplementary irrigation increased yield, as well as the relationship between energy production and consumption
