Semput is a fiction short film made by a crew of five people, Mel de Romer. This format allows a more expressive freedom without having a high economic cost. This audiovisual project is the materialization of the work made during months: from an idea to its shooting and post-production. So, the team has organized according to the experiences and preferences of every member, creating a good job background.
With this production it has attempted to experiment from the formal point of view, because the intention was not to keep the standards established in black cinema or suspense productions, as is this short film. So, long open shots are the most common resources, using as less as possible (only when necessary) close ups.
During the whole working process, the team has been constantly learning. It has tried to work in the most professional way. The organization and constant communication between the members of the team have been crucial. Moreover, this work also made possible to confront problems or common obstacles in a professional production, which have been solved as best as possible. In other words, the team faced real life, outside the walls of the University, understanding better the realization work of an audiovisual product, from beginning to end. Of course, the habilities and knowledge acquired in the classes has been put into practice. With this short film is expected to be able to demonstrate all the practical knowledge in this matter to thereby bridge to other audiovisual projects or set foot into the working world

Real-Life Use of Ceftolozane/Tazobactam for the Treatment of Bloodstream Infection Due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Neutropenic Hematologic Patients: a Matched Control Study (ZENITH Study)
Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Bacteremia; NeutropeniaPseudomonas aeruginosa; Bacteriemia; NeutropeniaPseudomonas aeruginosa; Bacterièmia; NeutropèniaWe sought to assess the characteristics and outcomes of neutropenic hematologic patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) bloodstream infection (BSI) treated with ceftolozane-tazobactam (C/T). We conducted a multicenter, international, matched-cohort study of PA BSI episodes in neutropenic hematologic patients who received C/T. Controls were patients with PA BSI treated with other antibiotics. Risk factors for overall 7-day and 30-day case fatality rates were analyzed. We compared 44 cases with 88 controls. Overall, 91% of episodes were caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains. An endogenous source was the most frequent BSI origin (35.6%), followed by pneumonia (25.8%). There were no significant differences in patient characteristics between groups. C/T was given empirically in 11 patients and as definitive therapy in 41 patients. Treatment with C/T was associated with less need for mechanical ventilation (13.6% versus 33.3%; P = 0.021) and reduced 7-day (6.8% versus 34.1%; P = 0.001) and 30-day (22.7% versus 48.9%; P = 0.005) mortality. In the multivariate analysis, pneumonia, profound neutropenia, and persistent BSI were independent risk factors for 30-day mortality, whereas lower mortality was found among patients treated with C/T (adjusted OR [aOR] of 0.19; confidence interval [CI] 95% of 0.07 to 0.55; P = 0.002). Therapy with C/T was associated with less need for mechanical ventilation and reduced 7-day and 30-day case fatality rates compared to alternative agents in neutropenic hematologic patients with PA BSI.
IMPORTANCE Ceftolozane-tazobactam (C/T) has been shown to be a safe and effective alternative for the treatment of difficult to treat infections due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) in the general nonimmunocompromised population. However, the experience of this agent in immunosuppressed neutropenic patients is very limited. Our study is unique because it is focused on extremely immunosuppressed hematological patients with neutropenia and bloodstream infection (BSI) due to PA (mainly multidrug resistant [MDR]), a scenario which is often associated with very high mortality rates. In our study, we found that the use of C/T for the treatment of MDR PA BSI in hematological neutropenic patients was significantly associated with improved outcomes, and, in addition, it was found to be an independent risk factor associated with increased survival. To date, this is the largest series involving neutropenic hematologic patients with PA BSI treated with C/T.This study was supported by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Subdirección General de Redes y Centros de Investigación Cooperativa, Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad, Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Enfermedades Infecciosas (CIBERINFEC), (CB21/13/00009), Madrid, Spain. Discovery of the elusive carbonic acid (HOCOOH) in space
After a quarter century since the detection of the last interstellar
carboxylic acid, acetic acid (CHCOOH), we report the discovery of a new
one, the cis-trans form of carbonic acid (HOCOOH), toward the Galactic Center
molecular cloud G+0.693-0.027. HOCOOH stands as the first interstellar molecule
containing three oxygen atoms and also the third carboxylic acid detected so
far in the interstellar medium. Albeit the limited available laboratory
measurements (up to 65 GHz), we have also identified several pairs of unblended
lines directly in the astronomical data (between 75-120 GHz), which allowed us
to slightly improve the set of spectroscopic constants. We derive a column
density for cis-trans HOCOOH of = (6.4 0.4) 10
cm, which yields an abundance with respect to molecular H of 4.7
10. Meanwhile, the extremely low dipole moment (about fifteen
times lower) of the lower-energy conformer, cis-cis HOCOOH, precludes its
detection. We obtain an upper limit to its abundance with respect to H of
1.2 10, which suggests that cis-cis HOCOOH might be
fairly abundant in interstellar space, although it is nearly undetectable by
radio astronomical observations. We derive a cis-cis/cis-trans ratio 25,
consistent with the smaller energy difference between both conformers compared
with the relative stability of trans- and cis-formic acid (HCOOH). Finally, we
compare the abundance of these acids in different astronomical environments,
further suggesting a relationship between the chemical content found in the
interstellar medium and the chemical composition of the minor bodies of the
Solar System, which could be inherited during the star formation process.Comment: Accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journa
Electrophilic nitroalkene-tocopherol derivatives: synthesis, physicochemical characterization and evaluation of anti-inflammatory signaling responses
Inflammation plays a major role in the onset and development of chronic non-communicable diseases like obesity, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Combined, these diseases represent the most common causes of death worldwide, thus development of novel pharmacological approaches is crucial. Electrophilic nitroalkenes derived from fatty acids are formed endogenously and exert anti-inflammatory actions by the modification of proteins involved in inflammation signaling cascades. We have developed novel nitroalkenes derived from α-tocopherol aiming to increase its salutary actions by adding anti-inflammatory properties to a well-known nutraceutical. We synthesized and characterized an α-tocopherol-nitroalkene (NATOH) and two hydrosoluble analogues derived from Trolox (NATxME and NATx0). We analyzed the kinetics of the Michael addition reaction of these compounds with thiols in micellar systems aiming to understand the effect of hydrophobic partition on the reactivity of nitroalkenes. We studied NATxME in vitro showing it exerts non-conventional anti-inflammatory responses by inducing Nrf2-Keap1-dependent gene expression and inhibiting the secretion of NF-κB dependent pro-inflammatory cytokines. NATxME was also effective in vivo, inhibiting neutrophil recruitment in a zebrafish model of inflammation. This work lays the foundation for the rational design of a new therapeutic strategy for the prevention and treatment of metabolic and inflammation-related disease
First glycine isomer detected in the interstellar medium: glycolamide (NHC(O)CHOH)
We report the first detection in the interstellar medium of a
CHON isomer: -glycolamide (NHC(O)CHOH). The exquisite
sensitivity at sub-mK levels of an ultra-deep spectral survey carried out with
the Yebes 40m and IRAM 30m telescopes towards the G+0.693-0.027 molecular cloud
have allowed us to unambiguously identify multiple transitions of this species.
We derived a column density of (7.4 0.7)10 cm,
which implies a molecular abundance with respect to H of
5.510. The other CHON isomers, including the
higher-energy conformer of glycolamide, and two conformers of glycine,
were not detected. The upper limit derived for the abundance of glycine
indicates that this amino acid is surely less abundant than its isomer
glycolamide in the ISM. The abundances of the CHON isomers cannot
be explained in terms of thermodynamic equilibrium, and thus chemical kinetics
need to be invoked. While the low abundance of glycine might not be surprising,
based on the relative low abundances of acids in the ISM compared to other
compounds (e.g. alcohols, aldehydes or amines), several chemical pathways can
favour the formation of its isomer glycolamide. It can be formed through
radical-radical reactions on the surface of dust grains. The abundances of
these radicals can be significantly boosted in an environment affected by a
strong ultraviolet field induced by cosmic rays, such as that expected in
G+0.693-0.027. Therefore, as shown by several recent molecular detections
towards this molecular cloud, it stands out as the best target to discover new
species with carbon, oxygen and nitrogen with increasing chemical complexity.Comment: Accepted in The Astrophysical Journal Letter
A pediatric regimen for adolescents and young adults with Philadelphia chromosome‐negative acute lymphoblastic leukemia: Results of the ALLRE08 PETHEMA trial
Background: Pediatric-based or -inspired trials have improved the prognosis of adolescents and young adults (AYA) with Philadelphia chromosome-negative (Ph-neg) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Methods: This study reports the results of treatment of the ALLRE08 trial, a full pediatric trial for AYA aged 15-30 years with standard-risk (SR) ALL. Results: From 2008 to 2018, 89 patients (38 adolescents [15-18 years] and 51 young adults [YA, 19-30 years], median age: 20 [15-29] years) were enrolled in the ALLRE08 trial. The complete response (CR) was 95%. Twenty-two patients were transferred to a high-risk (HR) protocol because of poor marrow response on day 14 (n = 20) or high-level of end-induction minimal residual response (MRD ≥ 0.25%, n = 2). Cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR) at 5 years was 35% (95%CI: 23%-47%), with significant differences between adolescents and YA: 13% (4%-28%) vs 52% (34%-67%), P = .012. No treatment-related mortality was observed in 66/66 patients following the ALLRE08 trial vs 3/23 patients moved to a HR trial. The estimated 5-year overall survival (OS) was 74% (95%CI: 63%-85%), with significantly higher rates for adolescents vs YA: 87% (95%CI: 74%-100%) vs 63% (46%-80%), P = .021. Although CIR or OS were lower in patients who were transferred to a HR trial, the differences were not statistically significant (CIR: 34% [21%-47%] vs 37% [14%-61%]; OS: 78% [66%-90%] vs 61% [31%;91%]). Conclusion: A full pediatric trial is feasible and effective for AYA with Ph-neg, SR-ALL, with better results for adolescents than for YA. Outcome of patients with poor early response rescued with a HR trial was not significantly inferior

Frequency and clinical impact of CDKN2A/ARF/CDKN2B gene deletions as assessed by in-depth genetic analyses in adult T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia
© The Author(s).Recurrent deletions of the CDKN2A/ARF/CDKN2B genes encoded at chromosome 9p21 have been described in both pediatric and adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), but their prognostic value remains controversial, with limited data on adult T-ALL. Here, we investigated the presence of homozygous and heterozygous deletions of the CDKN2A/ARF and CDKN2B genes in 64 adult T-ALL patients enrolled in two consecutive trials from the Spanish PETHEMA group. Alterations in CDKN2A/ARF/CDKN2B were detected in 35/64 patients (55%). Most of them consisted of 9p21 losses involving homozygous deletions of the CDKNA/ARF gene (26/64), as confirmed by single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) arrays and interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (iFISH). Deletions involving the CDKN2A/ARF/CDKN2B locus correlated with a higher frequency of cortical T cell phenotype and a better clearance of minimal residual disease (MRD) after induction therapy. Moreover, the combination of an altered copy-number-value (CNV) involving the CDKN2A/ARF/CDKN2B gene locus and undetectable MRD (≤ 0.01%) values allowed the identification of a subset of T-ALL with better overall survival in the absence of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. This project was supported by the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer, AECC (project ref.: GC16173697BIGA), by CERCA Program/Generalitat de Catalunya, the Catalan Government: 2014-SGR225 (GRE), Obra Social “La Caixa” and by Celgene Spain.
