The Kardar-Parisi-Zhang exponents for the 2+12+1 dimensions

The Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation has been connected to a large number of important stochastic processes in physics, chemistry and growth phenomena, ranging from classical to quantum physics. The central quest in this field is the search for ever more precise universal growth exponents. Notably, exact growth exponents are only known for 1+11+1 dimensions. In this work, we present physical and geometric analytical methods that directly associate these exponents to the fractal dimension of the rough interface. Based on this, we determine the growth exponents for the 2+12+1 dimensions, which are in agreement with the results of thin films experiments and precise simulations. We also make a first step towards a solution in d+1d+1 dimensions, where our results suggest the inexistence of an upper critical dimension

São referidas várias técnicas à disposição dos musicoterapeutas para complementar a terapêutica de doenças psiquiátricas (depressão unipolar, esquizofrenia, demência) e orgânicas (alívio da dor).Music shares its path with Men, taking up important individual and colective functions. Music gives plaesure, influences emotions, contributes to ansiety control, stimulates the autonumous nervous system, transcends. However, it crosses the individual borders, reaching the collective, giving its contribute to the social harmony. That’s why evolucionists claim that Music had a role on Mankind Evolution. Since 20th century it became, as well, a market product, a source of income. Beyond individual influences (intra-individual and inter-individual influences), there is the individual-environment influence. Some scientific works show how Music can change the perception of time and space. It is also addressed the therapeutic utility of Music since pre-historic times and, since 20th century, in a scientific way as ‘music therapy’. Various techniques at disposal of music therapists are also referenced. Techniques that, as a supplementary therapy, help in the treatment of psychiatric diseases (unipolar depression, schizophrenia, ansiety) and organic diseases (pain relief)

Hybrid-material optical fibers enhance the capabilities of fiber-optics technologies, extending current functionalities to several emerging application areas. Such platforms rely on the integration of novel materials into the fiber core or cladding, thereby supporting hybrid modes with new characteristics. Here we present experiments that reveal hybrid mode interactions within a doped-core silica fiber containing a central high-index nanofluidic channel. Compared with a standard liquid-filled capillary, calculations predict modes with unique properties emerging as a result of the doped core/cladding interface, possessing a high power fraction inside and outside the nanofluidic channel. Our experiments directly reveal the beating pattern in the fluorescent liquid resulting from the excitation of the first two linearly polarized hybrid modes in this system, being in excellent agreement with theoretical predictions. The efficient excitation and beat of such modes in such an off-resonance situation distinguishes our device from regular directional mode couplers and can benefit applications that demand strong coupling between fundamentaland higher-order- modes, e.g. intermodal third-harmonic generation, bidirectional coupling, and nanofluidic sensing

MatchMaking – A Tool to Match OWL Schemas

    Get PDF
This paper describes a software tool that implements an instancebased schema matching technique for OWL dialects. The technique is based on a matching algorithm that depends on the definition of similarity functions that evaluate the semantic proximity of elements from two different schemas. The tool is engineered to accommodate different similarity functions and variations of the matching algorithm, thereby facilitating experimentation with alternative setups

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces: The New Frontier of Next G Security

RIS is one of the significant technological advancements that will mark next-generation wireless. RIS technology also opens up the possibility of new security threats, since the reflection of impinging signals can be used for malicious purposes. This article introduces the basic concept for a RIS-assisted attack that re-uses the legitimate signal towards a malicious objective. Specific attacks are identified from this base scenario, and the RIS-assisted signal cancellation attack is selected for evaluation as an attack that inherently exploits RIS capabilities. The key takeaway from the evaluation is that an effective attack requires accurate channel information, a RIS deployed in a favorable location (from the point of view of the attacker), and it disproportionately affects legitimate links that already suffer from reduced path loss. These observations motivate specific security solutions and recommendations for future work.Comment: This work has been submitted to the IEEE for possible publication. There are many oil companies operating in Macaé-RJ, Campos basin, they value the safety of work and the lives of its employees. These companies do a study to verify the health status of their employees' spine and result in a database with six attributes, such as: Pelvic incidence, Pelvic inclination, Lumbar lordosis angle, Sacral inclination, Pelvic radius and Degree of Spondylolisthesis. For in Brazil, recently, Social Security has released statistical studies that show back pain as leaders in the ranking of departures in the first half of 2016, a fact that directly affects the productivity of companies and health of their employees. This article aims to apply the KDD process, specifically the task of Data Mining classification, ie, classify if the employee will be fit or unfit for the job. The decision tree was the technique chosen through the algorithm J48 to verify the possibilities of treatment of the collaborators in the prevention and improvement in the working environment, and even, a change in the management was made from the results found. It resulted in inadequate staff postures, inadequate service stations, lack of training in equipment handling, lack of knowledge about cargo handling

On the performance of the intermediate Hamiltonian Fock-space coupled-cluster method on linear triatomic molecules: The electronic spectra of NpO2+, NpO22+, and Pu O22

    Get PDF
International audienceIn this paper we explore the use of the novel relativistic intermediate Hamiltonian Fock-space coupled-cluster method in the calculation of the electronic spectrum for small actinyl ions (NpO2+, NpO22+, and PuO22+). It is established that the method, in combination with uncontracted double-zeta quality basis sets, yields excitation energies in good agreement with experimental values, and better than those obtained previously with other theoretical methods. We propose the reassignment of some of the peaks that were observed experimentally, and confirm other assignments

Petrografia e Geoquímica do Complexo Migmatítico de Bemposta (Zona Centro Ibérica, NE de Portugal)

ABSTRACT: The Bemposta Migmatite Complex (CMB) belong to the Central-Iberian Zone, NE Portugal. It is a high-grade metamorphic belt composed by metasediments of Ediacarian-Lower Cambrian age affected by partial melting during the second Variscan deformation event (D2). The anatexis culminated with intrusion of syn-tardi-D2 leucogranite sills in the CMB. Field and petrographic evidence suggest that the anatexis of the metasediments was controlled by muscovite dehydration-melting reactions. On the other hand, the stromatic leucosomes show that they were probably produced at a slightly deeper structural level (through biotite dehydration-melting reactions) and subsequently injected in these lithologies. The geochemical data reveals that leucosomes no longer correspond to the original melt compositions. During melt migration and ascent, they underwent fractional crystallization and accumulation of K-feldspar. Syn-tardi-D2 leucogranites that intrude CMB were most likely produced by higher degrees of partial melting. They have fractionated compositions and variable degrees of contamination with residual accessory mineral phases.
