Preliminary study of the genetic differentiation between two variety of cuban creole pig
It is admitted an Iberian origin for the Cuban Creole Pig breed. Inside this breed there exist varieties morphologically very well defined, as the Unhaired and Middlehaired types. The existence of these types is traditionally admitted by Cuban producers, researchers and by the society in general. To confirmate the genetic differentiation of these two morphological types, we have analyzed 93 samples of the breed, with representation of the middlehaired (MD) type (58 animals) and unhaired (UH) type (35 animals) taken from several Cuba provinces. We have used a test of 20 microsatellites of the recommended by FAO/ISAG. The obtained values for the parameters GST (0.74 and 0.12 percent) are extremely low. All these results are showing a no existence of varieties inside the Cuban Creole Pig breed.

Digital ulcerative lichenoid dermatitis in a patient receiving anti-PD-1 therapy
Programmed cell death receptor 1 inhibitors (anti-PD-1) constitute a form of immunotherapy for the treatment of several cancers. They are associated with cutaneous immune-related adverse events (irAE), occurring in up to 50% of patients. Lichenoid dermatitis is frequent and several presentations have been described. Although attempts have been made to study these reactions, they are yet to be fully characterized and the relationship with tumor response is unclear. We describe a case of digital ulcerative lichenoid dermatitis resembling ulcerative cutaneous lichen planus that occurred during pembrolizumab therapy for oral squamous cell carcinoma. The patient developed a painful ulcer on his index finger 18 months into therapy. Biopsy revealed epidermal ulceration with intense lichenoid dermatitis. Immunohistochemical study revealed intense CD8 positivity at the ulcer's edges and marked CD163 positivity at its base. Although idiopathic forms of this type of lichenoid dermatitis are particularly recalcitrant, our case was successfully managed with topical therapy and oncologic treatment did not require modification. One year after ending treatment the patient remains free of disease progression. It is unclear if this reaction is associated with his favorable oncologic response. This report adds an undescribed reaction to the increasing diversity of cutaneous irAE associated with anti-PD-1 therapy
Production-consumption budget in an estuarine bay: How anoxia is prevented in a forced system
Althought the generation of anoxic situations is a well known fact in estuarine bays, in the southem embayment of the Ebro delta (NW Mediterranean), the Alfacs Bay, oxygen depletion is a rare event. In this paper we examine the processes preventing anoxia in the system through a consumption/production budget. From caJculations based upon annual mean values, we conclude that the bay is slightly heterotrophic, that is, that total consumption exceeds autochtonous production by only 1 0%. But heterogeneity in both space and time results in a high variance around the mean used in our budget. We have exarnined the main components of this variance (stratification of the water column, horizontal heterogeneity, phytoplankton production in pulses, etc.) and sorne of them have been incorporated in a simple box-flux model. From this model, we conclude that only the deep water layer is strongly heterotrophic and that its sources of oxygen are vertical rnixing and renovation (50%), diapycnal eddy diffusion (25%) and local production (25%). The generation of anoxia must be driven by the co-occurrence of events associated with oxygen depletion and/or limitation of oxygen transport (i.e., calm weather period after a phytoplankton pulse; lack of estuarine circulation during a long calm weather period, etc.), what we call the covariance between processes. Such covariance is in general low, and in consequence anoxia must be considered a low probability event. Comparing Alfacs Bay with other estuaries in the framework of the proposed conceptual model, three features emerge that may be relevant in order to prevent anoxia: low organic loading (produced plus imported); active estuarine circulation forced by high wind frequency; degradation of the organic matter mainly by benthic consumers
Psychometric properties on a romantic love myths scale: The case of the myths, fallacies and erroneous beliefs about the ideal of romantic love scale.
Understanding the construct of romantic love is an important task in societies all around the world. However, instruments designed to assess this construct are scarce and most of them were developed more than a decade ago. De la Peña, Ramos, Luzón, and Recio (2011) proposed the Myths, Fallacies and Erroneous Beliefs about the Ideal of Romantic Love Scale. In this current study we provide the psychometric properties of this scale in a representative sample of adolescents. The analytic strategy included both Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis. We achieved a best-factor structure using a unidimensional model of romantic beliefs which also had an adequate estimated reliability. In agreement with descriptions in the existing academic literature, the resulting romantic beliefs factor was significantly related to hostile and benevolent sexism, although slightly less so in the latter case. Finally, differential validity was examined using 'gender' and 'having a partner' as independent variables; the differences in romantic beliefs according to these variables also agreed with previous reports in the literature. We provide a thorough discussion of our results and highlight the implications of our findings for clinical practice
