Hurry, worry and curry are the three factors which causes intestinal upsets frequently and leads to gastrointestinal problems in modern life. Pravahika (Amoebic dysentery) is also one of the important and oftenly occurring Vyadhis of Annavaha and Pureeshvaha Srotasas in current time. Pravahika is the Pakwasahayagata kaphajavikara with symptoms of Sarakta mala, Sapravahana mala, Sakapha mala, Daah, Jwara, Bhrama Daurbalya, Anannabhilsha, Sweda and Trishna. A case report of a patient with a history of loose motion with mucous discharge for the 6 months visited Ayurveda OPD, is presented in this study. Routine stool examination, blood glucose, serum lipid profile and liver function test were performed. The patient was treated with Ayurvedic medicine Kutajghan vati (1 gm), Bilvadi churna with Takra (6 gm) and, Chitrakadi Gutika (250 mg) in divided doses for 1 month. The patient was followed up for every 7th day and there was significant improvement in the clinical features after 1 month of treatment with the Ayurvedic medicines. There were no side effects reported. This case study demonstrates the therapeutic efficacy of Bilvadi churna, Kutajghan vati and Chitrakadi Gutika in the rapid management of Pravahika.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a leading respiratory illness affecting the quality of lives around the world. The present study aims to compare the efficacy and safety of combination of inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) and long acting β2 agonist (LABA) with long acting β2 agonist and long acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) in treatment of mild to moderate COPD in a tertiary care hospital. Methods: Total 132 patients with COPD were recruited on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria for 8 weeks study from outpatient clinic. A complete pulmonary examination including spirometry examination was done to rule out severe and very severe forms of COPD. Spirometry was performed at the time of recruitment for evaluation of forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and measurement of SpO2 at the time of recruitment at 2 weeks and 8 weeks. Appropriate statistical methods were used to compare the qualitative and quantitative primary and secondary efficacy end points, p value <0.05 was considered significant. Results: On analysis, there was a significant difference (p<0.05) was observed in FEV1 and SpO2 from baseline in ICS plus LABA group (n=66). A similarly significant difference (p<0.05) was observed in LABA and LAMA group (n=66). On comparison between ICS plus LABA and LABA plus LAMA no significant difference in FEV1 and SpO2 was observed between the two groups.  More adverse drug reactions were observed in ICS plus LABA group than LAMA plus LABA group. Conclusions: Combination of ICS and LABA combination is as effective as combination of LABA and LAMA in patients having mild to moderate COPD. However, LABA and LAMA combination is preferable because it is associated with fewer side effects

The present study aimed to evaluate the genetic diversity of 10 wheat cultivars by Random Amplified Pol-ymorphic DNA (RAPD) marker. The genomic DNA of 10 wheat genotypes were amplified with 10 RAPD primers that produced 53 amplified band, out of which 23 band were polymorphic (43.39%). The number of fragment amplified per primer ranged from 4 to 9. Primer A01 generated maximum number of amplified band, out of which 5 band were polymorphic. Cluster analysis of wheat genotypes were based on UPGMA method. Cluster analysis of 10 wheat genotypes were classified in to two main group; single variety AKW 1071 was placed in first group and rest 9 variety were placed in second group. The pair wise similarity values ranged from 0.58% to 100% and showed that cultivars Raj-3765 and K-7903 were the closest with highest similarity value (100%), while genotypes AKW 1071 and K9006 showed minimum similarity value (62%). The present study indicated the presence of high genetic diversity among wheat cultivars, which could be used for the developing core collection of wheat germplasm for breeding purpose

Materia Medica of Ayurveda is using best scientific and applied Rasa Chikitsa and Rasa Ausadhi occupied an important place in the field of Ayurvedic practice. It deals with metal, minerals and poisonous drug. Starting from 9th century AD to 16th century AD was the sunshine period of Rasa Chikitsa, then gradually decline probably due to introduction of western medicine. It’s efficacy is superior than plant formulation due to its unlimited expiry, effective in small dose, abundant resource and quickly effective on the target tissue even it can handle emergency situations also but the most important background of Rasa Ausadhi received highly technical processing (Shodhan, Marana, Jarana[1]) for the treatment of diseases. In this content liver function test and estimation of renal profile (before and after) will help for gaining confidence both in patient and physician prior to use compound formulations containing Tamra Bhasma. Tamra Bhasma is a metal compound which is used for treatment of various disease like Jwara, Bala Roga, Grahani Roga, Pandu, Visarpa, Brishya, Yakrit Roga, Pliha Roga etc

The present study investigates the influence of adding multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) into the dielectric fluid of electric discharge machining (EDM) in terms of material removal rate (MRR), surface roughness (SR) and surface topology of EN-31 die steel using Cu electrode. A customized rotary electrode set-up has been developed to compare the performance improvement of powder mixed rotary electrical discharge machining (PMREDM) as compared to powder mixed electrical discharge machining (PMEDM) and conventional EDM. The present study attempts to investigate the optimization of process parameters of MWCNT mixed rotary EDM of EN-31 die steel using response surface methodology (RSM) and genetic algorithm (GA) in terms of MRR and SR. The optimization results show that MWCNT mixed rotary EDM shows highest value of MRR (9.72 mm3/min) and lowest value of SR (Ra = 2.03 μm), which are approximately 46.17% higher and 45.43% lower than conventional EDM values respectively. Further, various combinations of optimal values of MRR and SR and their corresponding input parameters setting have been shown in pareto table created by multi-objective optimization GA technique available in MATLAB. Finally, field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) analysis of MWCNT mixed rotary EDM and EDM surfaces is carried out which revealsthat MWCNT mixed rotary EDM shows better surface topography as compared to EDM process

267-276Wire electrical discharge turning set-up has been developed by modifying the conventional five axes CNC WEDM machine. The main objective of this setup is to achieve cylindrical forms on hard to cut materials. This work focuses on the study of effect of input process parameters like pulse on-time, pulse off time, gap voltage, spindle rotational speed on output responses like surface roughness, material removal rate and wire wear ratio. A mathematical model of responses has been developed using response surface methodology and the optimal value of process parameters has been obtained by desirability function. Surface morphology studies of the machined surface and the worn-out wire has also been elaborated by FE-SEM images. The results show that with an increase in machining parameters value except pulse-on time, all the desired machining outcome decreases. Surface roughness, material removal rate and wire wear ratio have been found in the range of 1.99 µm – 1.37 µm, 7.55 – 13.66 mm3/min and 0.05–0.08, respectively. The formation of thick recast layer over the machined surface has also been discussed. The reduction in wire dimension has been calculated by optical microscopy and its morphology has been discussed by FE-SEM images
