Looking at old and new isometries between pc-sets in the Planet-4D Model

International audienceThe Model introduced by (Baroin 2011b) is richer than the standard cyclic model (Kremer cycle). Beyond the usual T/I group of symmetries, some extra isometries appeared in actual visualizations of musical pieces. The present document elucidates how these isometries are in fact wellknown symmetries which do not preserve shape in most previous models

Experimental Measurement of Human Oocyte Mechanical Properties on a Micro and Nanoforce Sensing Platform Based on Magnetic Springs.

International audienceThis article presents a new micro and nanoforce sensor used to perform a mechanical characterisation of human oocytes. This device is based on the use of low-sti_ness magnetic springs. The oocytes to be characterised are placed on a force-sensitive platform. A manipulator equipped with a standard micropipette is used to mechanically compress the oocyte. Some complete \force-compression length" curves associated with mechanical load-unload cycles are given. These curves show the linear, the non-linear and also the plastic mechanical behaviour of the oocytes. These characterisations must be considered as a preliminary result which illustrates that the mechanical variability and the mechanical evolution of human oocytes during their maturation process can be observed with a force sensor based on magnetic springs

Frame and Flow in Words and Music by Samuel Beckett and Morton Feldman

A product of the close collaboration between a literary critic and a music theorist, this essay explores the ways in which Samuel Beckett’s radio play, Words and Music (1962), combines a static and formalised compositional frame and a process of flow. It then analyses the solutions contrived by Morton Feldman, the musician of flow, to accommodate to the Beckettian frame, thus solving what the playwright calls the “formidable and perhaps insurmountable problems” set by the piece. It eventually foregrounds the profound unity that characterises the Wordman’s and the Noteman’s scores in the 1987 version of the play.Fruit de la coopération entre une critique littéraire et un spécialiste d’analyse musicale, cette étude à quatre mains explore la manière dont Words and Music, pièce radiophonique écrite par Samuel Beckett en 1962, conjugue un cadre compositionnel extrêmement statique et formalisé et un processus de flux. Elle s’intéresse ensuite à la manière dont Morton Feldman, le musicien du flux, s’accommode du cadre Beckettien et relève les défis techniques et esthétiques posés aux compositeurs. Elle met enfin en lumière l’unité profonde qui lie les Mots de Beckett et la Musique de Feldman dans la partition de 1987 de la pièce
