    Get PDF
Growth and mortality rate of Cyprinus carpio (Linnaeus) under five different dietary conditions were studied in fifteen floating net cages in ponds of the Bangladesh Agricultural University Campus, Mymensingh. Growth rate was found to vary under different dietary conditions. The feed with mixture of 25% rice bran, 5% wheat bran, 30% linseed oil cake and 40% water hyacinth leaf meal exhibited the highest growth rate. The gain of log of body weight per unit increase of log of total length was significant. Significant survivals of the fishes were found

A new technique of PWM boost inverter for solar home application

    Get PDF
This paper analyzes the procedural approach and benefits of applying optimization techniques to the design of a boost dc-ac converter with solar cell as an input. The analysis is performed based on the particular 12V DC to 220 V AC conversion for home applications. A traditional design methodology is the use of buck inverter. One of the characteristics of the most classical inverter is that it produces an AC output instantaneous voltage always lower than the DC input voltage. Thus, if an output voltage higher than the input one is needed, a boost dc-dc converter must be used between the DC source and the inverter. This paper describes a new P.W.M. strategy for a voltage source inverter. This modulation strategy reduces the energy losses and harmonics in the P.W.M. voltage source inverter. This technique allows the P.W.M. voltage source inverter to become a new feasible solution for solar home application

EFFECT OF VITAMIN E SUPPLEMENTATION TOWARDS DEVELOPMENT OF THE ANAEROBIC POWER AND PHOSPHATE MEDIATED RECOVERY OF SPRINTERS

Objective: Anaerobic exercise has been considered as short duration high-intensity exercise requires anaerobic conversion of available biological phosphates to its active phosphorylated form by the enzymatic action of creatine kinase. Several research studies have been pointed out the role of vitamin supplementation and amelioration from exercise-induced oxidative stress. Vitamin E is a potential lipid soluble antioxidant has profound roles in amelioration of free radicals generated during endurance exercise. In this study, our attempt is to observe the effect of vitamin E towards development of anaerobic power and recovery by restoration of biological phosphates. Methods: In this study, we have taken 30 male subjects from 100m and 200m sprinters of which half of them were given vitamin E supplement. The serum creatine and creatine kinase activity were measured in 100m and 200m sprinters after their exercise. Rapid Anaerobic based Sprint test and phosphate recovery test were applied to test the sprinting ability and recovery. Results: It was observed that in both 100 and 200m sprinters subjects with vitamin E supplementation have better sprinting ability as confirmed from RAST test and quicker recovery than subjects whom vitamin E supplementation was not given; which are correlated with serum creatine kinase and creatine level suggesting that the vitamin E can improve in anaerobic performance. Conclusion: From this study, it can be concluded that vitamin E supplementation develops the anaerobic power and phosphate mediated recovery of hundred meters (100m) and two hundred meters (200m) sprinters. The Study of Genetic Divergence in Rice (Oryza Sativa L.) Genotypes with Grain Yield and Different Morpho-Physiological Traits using Mahalanobis’ D2 Analysis

The current study attempted to study genetic divergence in rice (Oryza sativa L.) genotypes with grain yield and different morpho-physiological traits among 18 rice varieties using Mahalanobis' D2 analysis. Keeping this in mind, the performance of the studied genotypes, as well as the association between various morpho-physiological and yield contributing traits among the genotypes, were evaluated in the field. The experiments were conducted from July to December 2018 at the Agronomy Field, Department of Agronomy and Agricultural Extension, Faculty of Agriculture, Rajshahi University. In terms of grain yield and other morpho-physiological traits, the genotypes differed significantly. The genotypes were classified into five clusters using Mahalonobis' D2 statistics and Tocher's method (Table 3). Cluster IV was the smallest of the clusters. Cluster l is the largest, with six genotypes. Clusters II and lV each contained three and two genotypes. The pattern of genotype distribution among various clusters reflected the significant genetic variability present in the genotypes, which may be due to adaptation of these genotypes to specific environmental conditions. Genotypes from different clusters are expected (inter-cluster). The intra (bold) and inter-cluster distances from D2 analysis (Table 4). Cluster I has the greatest intra cluster distance (0.956), while Cluster IV has the smallest (0.3583). The greatest inter-cluster distance is observed between cluster IV and (8.190), while the smallest inter-cluster distance is observed between cluster II and IV (2.924). In both vectors, the average inter-cluster distances were greater than the average intra-cluster distances, indicating the presence of greater genetic diversity among genotypes from different clusters than those from the same cluster. These findings indicated that these five traits contributed the most to the divergence among the eighteen rice genotypes. The results revealed that the clusters were remarkably distinct for the majority of the traits, indicating proper clustering. The most effective tiller, grain panicle, effective grain panicle, and days to maturity were found in Cluster V. The intra-cluster mean for grain yield was the lowest in this cluster. Cluster III had the lowest grain yield per acre. This was the cluster with the lowest initial grain yield. The intra-cluster mean for effective tiller and days to maturity was highest in this cluster. Cluster II had the smallest grain yield and the second smallest thousand grain weight. Cluster V had the shortest panicle length intra-cluster. View Article DOI: 10.47856/ijaast.2022.v09i10.00

    Defund Culture

The spread of the Omicron variant this winter was met with renewed calls for the UK Government to fund the arts and culture through the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic and beyond. ‘We are in crisis mode’, Nicolas Hytner, former artistic director of the National Theatre, told the BBC’s Newsnight programme. ‘We need to see short-term finance, we need to see loans, we need to see VAT looked at again, we need to see business rates looked at again’. Meanwhile, both the BBC and Guardian have been running major series, titled Rethink and Reconstruction After Covid respectively, to explore how society should change in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. In the first part of 'Defund Culture' I cast a fresh eye on how the ‘culture wars’ can help to explain the lack of enthusiasm on the part of the current Conservative administration when it comes to supporting the arts. In part 2 I then argue that, if we really want to rethink the future of society post-pandemic with a view to building back better with a new antiracist, anticlassist, antiheteropatriarchal normal, rather than defending existing models of state funding of the arts, the way in which we should respond to the crisis in the creative industries is actually by defunding culture and many of its major institutions

This paper depicts about a power conversion circuit of a Pulse-width modulated (PMW) voltage source inverter known as a Solar-based boost differential single phase inverter. The total harmonic distortion of 67.12% found in an open loop Solar-based boost differential inverter is reduced down to 22.37% in closed loop system with the aid of Proportional –integral-Differential (PID) voltage controller. The transient stage of the proposed system takes conical shape before it reaches its steady state.   The core characteristics of this type of inverter are:  it engenders an ac output voltage that is greater than the dc voltage which is not obtained in conventional inverter, it trims down the many stages of power conversions found in other boost converters to one stage, it mitigates the ripple contents of the input voltage and current concurrently and finally, it is portable. This research also shows the disparity between the simulated results of open loop and closed loop of boost differential inverter systems. The dc power source is photovoltaic cell. The maximum power point tracker is in-cooperated in capturing the maximum power from the sun. The proposed topic has its applications in homes, offices and more in industries
