KEPEMIMPINAN KEPALA DESA KALUKU KABUPATEN JENEPONTO DALAM MEMBERDAYAKAN MASYARAKAT DESA PERSPEKTIF SIYASAH SYARβIYYAH
Pemerintah desa merupakan badan kekuasaan terendah dengan kewenangan mengatur rumah tangganya sendiri serta sebagai pelaksana kewenangan dokensetrasi dari pemerintahan di atasnya. Pemerintah desa dipimpin oleh seorang kepala desa dengan pelbagai tugas, fungsi dan kewenangan yang melekat pada jabatannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola kepemimpinan Kepala Desa Kaluku dalam memberdayakan masyarakat Desa Kaluku Kabupaten Jeneponto. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kepala Desa Kaluku telah melakukan pelbagai program pemberdayaan, baik yang bersifat fisik seperti pelibatan masyarakat dalam pembangunan irigasi, jalan serta fasilitas umum dan fasilitas sosial, maupun pelibatan dalam program nonfisik, seperti penyediaan pupuk dan pakan ternak, pelibatan tim penggerak PPK dalam mengelola progam simpan pinjam serta beberapa kegiatan yang mengarah pada upaya perlingungan terhadap generasi muda, seperti sosialisasi bahaya Narkotika, ADIS dan kenakalan remaja. Adapun faktor-faktor yang menghambat upaya pemberdayaan masyarakat adalah kondisi penduduk Desa Kaluku yang heterogen, partisipasi masyarakat yang masih rendah serta ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana penunjang yang masih terbatas.Kata Kunci: Kepemimpinan; Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Desa; Siyasah Syarβiyya
What am I not seeing? An Interactive Approach to Social Content Discovery in Microblogs
In this paper, we focus on the informational and user experience benefits of user-driven topic exploration in microblog communities, such as Twitter, in an inspectable, controllable and personalized manner. To this end, we introduce ``HopTopics'' -- a novel interactive tool for exploring content that is popular just beyond a user's typical information horizon in a microblog, as defined by the network of individuals that they are connected to. We present results of a user study (N=122) to evaluate HopTopics with varying complexity against a typical microblog feed in both personalized and non-personalized conditions. Results show that the HopTopics system, leveraging content from both the direct and extended network of a user, succeeds in giving users a better sense of control and transparency. Moreover, participants had a poor mental model for the degree of novel content discovered when presented with non-personalized data in the Inspectable interface
Self-recognition in corals facilitates deep-sea habitat engineering
The ability of coral reefs to engineer complex three-dimensional habitats is central to their success and the rich biodiversity they support. In tropical reefs, encrusting coralline algae bind together substrates and dead coral framework to make continuous reef structures, but beyond the photic zone, the cold-water coral Lophelia pertusa also forms large biogenic reefs, facilitated by skeletal fusion. Skeletal fusion in tropical corals can occur in closely related or juvenile individuals as a result of non-aggressive skeletal overgrowth or allogeneic tissue fusion, but contact reactions in many species result in mortality if there is no βself-recognitionβ on a broad species level. This study reveals areas of βflawlessβ skeletal fusion in Lophelia pertusa, potentially facilitated by allogeneic tissue fusion, are identified as having small aragonitic crystals or low levels of crystal organisation, and strong molecular bonding. Regardless of the mechanism, the recognition of βselfβ between adjacent L. pertusa colonies leads to no observable mortality, facilitates ecosystem engineering and reduces aggression-related energetic expenditure in an environment where energy conservation is crucial. The potential for self-recognition at a species level, and subsequent skeletal fusion in framework-forming cold-water corals is an important first step in understanding their significance as ecological engineers in deep-seas worldwide
Characterization of shape and dimensional accuracy of incrementally formed titanium sheet parts with intermediate curvatures between two feature types
Single point incremental forming (SPIF) is a relatively new manufacturing process that has been recently used to form medical grade titanium sheets for implant devices. However, one limitation of the SPIF process may be characterized by dimensional inaccuracies of the final part as compared with the original designed part model. Elimination of these inaccuracies is critical to forming medical implants to meet required tolerances. Prior work on accuracy characterization has shown that feature behavior is important in predicting accuracy. In this study, a set of basic geometric shapes consisting of ruled and freeform features were formed using SPIF to characterize the dimensional inaccuracies of grade 1 titanium sheet parts. Response surface functions using multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) are then generated to model the deviations at individual vertices of the STL model of the part as a function of geometric shape parameters such as curvature, depth, distance to feature borders, wall angle, etc. The generated response functions are further used to predict dimensional deviations in a specific clinical implant case where the curvatures in the part lie between that of ruled features and freeform features. It is shown that a mixed-MARS response surface model using a weighted average of the ruled and freeform surface models can be used for such a case to improve the mean prediction accuracy within Β±0.5 mm. The predicted deviations show a reasonable match with the actual formed shape for the implant case and are used to generate optimized tool paths for minimized shape and dimensional inaccuracy. Further, an implant part is then made using the accuracy characterization functions for improved accuracy. The results show an improvement in shape and dimensional accuracy of incrementally formed titanium medical implants
The Universal One-Loop Effective Action
We present the universal one-loop effective action for all operators of
dimension up to six obtained by integrating out massive, non-degenerate
multiplets. Our general expression may be applied to loops of heavy fermions or
bosons, and has been checked against partial results available in the
literature. The broad applicability of this approach simplifies one-loop
matching from an ultraviolet model to a lower-energy effective field theory
(EFT), a procedure which is now reduced to the evaluation of a combination of
matrices in our universal expression, without any loop integrals to evaluate.
We illustrate the relationship of our results to the Standard Model (SM) EFT,
using as an example the supersymmetric stop and sbottom squark Lagrangian and
extracting from our universal expression the Wilson coefficients of

Controlling the Outcome of the Toll-Like Receptor Signaling Pathways
The Toll-Like Receptors (TLRs) are proteins involved in the immune system that increase cytokine levels when triggered. While cytokines coordinate the response to infection, they appear to be detrimental to the host when reaching too high levels. Several studies have shown that the deletion of specific TLRs was beneficial for the host, as cytokine levels were decreased consequently. It is not clear, however, how targeting other components of the TLR pathways can improve the responses to infections. We applied the concept of Minimal Cut Sets (MCS) to the ihsTLR v1.0 model of the TLR pathways to determine sets of reactions whose knockouts disrupt these pathways. We decomposed the TLR network into 34 modules and determined signatures for each MCS, i.e. the list of targeted modules. We uncovered 2,669 MCS organized in 68 signatures. Very few MCS targeted directly the TLRs, indicating that they may not be efficient targets for controlling these pathways. We mapped the species of the TLR network to genes in human and mouse, and determined more than 10,000 Essential Gene Sets (EGS). Preferential Localization of Human Origins of DNA Replication at the 5β²-Ends of Expressed Genes and at Evolutionarily Conserved DNA Sequences
Replication of mammalian genomes requires the activation of thousands of
origins which are both spatially and temporally regulated by as yet unknown
mechanisms. At the most fundamental level, our knowledge about the
distribution pattern of origins in each of the chromosomes, among different
cell types, and whether the physiological state of the cells alters this
distribution is at present very limited.We have used standard Ξ»-exonuclease resistant nascent DNA preparations in
the size range of 0.7β1.5 kb obtained from the breast cancer cell line
MCFβ7 hybridized to a custom tiling array containing 50β60 nt
probes evenly distributed among genic and non-genic regions covering about
1% of the human genome. A similar DNA preparation was used for
high-throughput DNA sequencing. Array experiments were also performed with
DNA obtained from BT-474 and H520 cell lines. By determining the sites
showing nascent DNA enrichment, we have localized several thousand origins
of DNA replication. Our major findings are: (a) both array and DNA
sequencing assay methods produced essentially the same origin distribution
profile; (b) origin distribution is largely conserved (>70%) in
all cell lines tested; (c) origins are enriched at the 5β²ends of
expressed genes and at evolutionarily conserved intergenic sequences; and
(d) ChIP on chip experiments in MCF-7 showed an enrichment of H3K4Me3 and
RNA Polymerase II chromatin binding sites at origins of DNA replication.Our results suggest that the program for origin activation is largely
conserved among different cell types. Also, our work supports recent studies
connecting transcription initiation with replication, and in addition
suggests that evolutionarily conserved intergenic sequences have the
potential to participate in origin selection. Overall, our observations
suggest that replication origin selection is a stochastic process
significantly dependent upon local accessibility to replication factors
The Risk of Stroke after Percutaneous Vertebroplasty for Osteoporosis: A Population-Based Cohort Study
PURPOSE: To investigate the incidence and risk of stroke after percutaneous vertebroplasty in patients with osteoporosis. METHODS: A group of 334 patients with osteoporosis, and who underwent percutaneous vertebroplasty during the study period, was compared to 1,655 age-, sex- and propensity score-matched patients who did not undergo vertebroplasty. All demographic covariates and co-morbidities were deliberately matched between the two groups to avoid selection bias. Every subject was followed-up for up to five years for stroke. Adjustments using a Cox regression model and Kaplan-Meier analyses were conducted. RESULTS: A total of 1,989 osteoporotic patients were followed up for 3,760.13 person-years. Overall, the incidence rates of any stroke, hemorrhagic stroke and ischemic stroke were 22.6, 4.2 and 19.6 per 1,000 person-years, respectively. Patients who underwent vertebroplasty were not more likely to have any stroke (crude hazard ratioβ=β1.13, pβ=β0.693), hemorrhagic stroke (HRβ=β2.21, pβ=β0.170), or ischemic stroke (HRβ=β0.96, pβ=β0.90). After adjusting for demographics, co-morbidities and medications, the vertebroplasty group had no significant difference with the comparison group in terms of any, hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes (adjusted HRβ=β1.22, 3.17, and 0.96, pβ=β0.518, 0.055, and 0.91, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Osteoporotic patients who undergo percutaneous vertebroplasty are not at higher risk of any stroke in the next five years after the procedure
