Overdamped Deterministic Ratchets Driven By Multifrequency Forces

We investigate a dissipative, deterministic ratchet model in the overdamped regime driven by a {\it rectangular force}. Extensive numerical calculations are presented in a diagram depicting the drift velocity as a function of a wide range of the driving parameter values. We also present some theoretical considerations which explain some features of the mentioned diagram. In particular, we proof the existence of regions in the driving parameter space with bounded particle motion possessing zero current. Moreover, we present an explicit analytical expression for the drift velocity in the adiabatic limit.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure

Dynamics of singular complex analytic vector fields with essential singularities II

The singular complex analytic vector fields $X$ on the Riemann sphere $\widehat{\mathbb C}_z$ belonging to the family ${\mathscr E}(r,d)=\left\{ X(z)=\frac{1}{P(z)} e^{E(z)}\frac{\partial }{\partial z}\ \Big\vert \ P, E\in\mathbb{C}[z]\right\}$, where $P$ is monic, $deg(P)=r$, $deg(E)=d$, $r+d\geq 1$, have a finite number of poles on the complex plane and an isolated essential singularity at infinity (for $d\geq 1$). Our aim is to describe geometrically $X$, particularly the singularity at infinity. We use the natural one to one correspondence between $X$, a global singular analytic distinguished parameter $\Psi_X(z)=\int^z P(\zeta) e^{-E(\zeta)}d\zeta$, and the Riemann surface ${\mathcal R}_X$ of this distinguished parameter. We introduce $(r,d)$-configuration trees which are weighted directed rooted trees. An $(r,d)$-configuration tree completely encodes the Riemann surface ${\mathcal R}_X$ and the singular flat metric associated on ${\mathcal R}_X$. The $(r,d)$-configuration trees provide "parameters" for the complex manifold ${\mathscr E}(r,d)$, which give explicit geometrical and dynamical information; a valuable tool for the analytic description of $X\in{\mathscr E}(r,d)$. Furthermore, given $X$, the phase portrait of the associated real vector field $Re(X)$ on the Riemann sphere is decomposed into $Re(X)$-invariant components: half planes and finite height strips. The germ of $X$ at infinity is described as a combinatorial word (consisting of hyperbolic, elliptic, parabolic and entire angular sectors having the point at infinity of $\widehat{\mathbb C}_z$ as center). The structural stability, under perturbation in ${\mathscr E}(r,d)$, of the phase portrait of $Re(X)$ is characterized by using the $(r,d)$-configuration trees. We provide explicit conditions, in terms of $r$ and $d$, as to when the number of topologically equivalent phase portraits of $Re(X)$ is unbounded.Comment: 82 pages, 25 figure

Urban transport and mobility, towards a sustainable and competitive urban dynamic

El presente artículo pretende aportar algunas ideas sobre este tema en función de la interdependencia que existe entre los usos del suelo y el transporte, considerando al primero como sinónimo de actividades urbanas y al segundo como el medio de intercambio físico entre ellas. El discurso propone un análisis de la dinámica urbana con base en tres dimensiones: la formal, la funcional y la moral, procurando asociarlas a los paradigmas de la sustentabilidad y la competitividad urbanas, tratando de relacionarlas con los procesos de globalización para satisfacer las necesidades de movilidad en la ciudad posmoderna. Finalmente, se mencionan las características que los servicios de transporte público urbano de pasajeros deberían observar para contribuir a los objetivos funcionales y ambientales en los procesos de administración de la ciudad.A lo largo de la historia el hombre ha buscado formas diversas de transporte para realizar sus desplazamientos de manera más eficiente y confortable; en tal sentido, la evolución de los medios de transporte y la infraestructura física sobre la que discurren juegan un papel fundamental en la eficiencia y la eficacia de la movilidad de la población y sus bienes. El transporte urbano es un componente de la dimensión funcional de la ciudad y, junto con los usos del suelo, condiciona la manera en que se llevan cabo las actividades urbanas. En su conjunto, este fenómeno es conocido como “dinámica urbana”

El presente trabajo de Seminario de Graduación, pretende analizar el internet como una estrategia para aumentar las oportunidades de crecimiento en una empresa, empleando las técnicas de investigación documental y basado en las normas APA. El marketing digital es un concepto muy amplio, ya que engloba todas aquellas acciones y estrategias publicitarias que se ejecutan en los medios y canales de internet: webs, blogs, redes sociales, lo que llamamos las técnicas SEO que actualmente se ejecutan en las empresas y que ayudan a posicionar una empresa en la WEB, tal como se aprecia en el Libro el SEO PRACTICO de Fleischner. De igual manera en el libro El día que David venció a Goliat de David Gómez, se observa como una pequeña empresa puede competir con una gran empresa apalancándose en las herramientas de la WEB logrando potencializar sus oportunidades de crecimiento. A día de hoy, a la hora de contratar los servicios de cualquier empresa, los potenciales clientes utilizan internet con el objetivo de estudiar las opiniones de otros usuarios que ya hayan tenido contacto con la empresa para tomar una decisión acertada, motivo por el cual es importante tener una buena imagen en la web y conocer las ventajas y desventajas que existen usando las mismas para la empresa

Involvement, consistency and adaptability in the new style of relations (ner). The experience of ner Group in the Basque Country

[ES] Este artículo analiza la percepción que tienen las personas de las organizaciones de ner Group ubicadas en el País Vasco, de las características culturales del nuevo estilo de relaciones (ner), desarrollado por Koldo Saratxaga durante su exitosa dirección en Irizar Group. El ner, una innovación en cultura y gestión organizacional, una respuesta a los retos planteados por las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación y la sociedad del conocimiento, se basa en las personas, pilares básicos de las organizaciones, quienes trabajan en equipos autogestionados con responsabilidad, confianza y libertad para alcanzar la satisfacción del cliente. El compromiso de las personas con sus organizaciones se potencia mediante la solidaridad interna, expresada en la reducción de las diferencias salariales, el reparto de resultados, y la seguridad en el empleo ante situaciones de crisis, garantizada por las reubicaciones entre organizaciones del grupo. El estudio empírico desarrollado, para el que se ha diseñado un cuestionario específico, permite concluir que la gran mayoría de las personas manifiesta un alto grado de Implicación, considera que el ner facilita orientar la actividad hacia la satisfacción del cliente, perciben la Consistencia existente, facilitadora de relaciones de igualdad en un entorno de confianza mutua, y otorgan altas puntuaciones a la Adaptabilidad, interna (compromiso con la solidaridad interna) y externa (compromiso con el entorno social).[EN] This paper analyses the perception the people working at the organizations of ner Group in the Basque Country have of the cultural features of the new style of relationships (ner), created by Koldo Saratxaga during his successful running of Irizar Group. The ner, an innovation in culture and management, an answer to the challenges placed by the Technologies of Information and Communication and the Knowledge Society, is based on persons, basic pillars of the organizations; persons who work in self-managed teams with responsibility, confidence and freedom to reach customers satisfaction. The commitment and integration of persons with the organization they work for are strengthened by implementing internal solidarity based on the reduction of the wage differences, the profit sharing and the employment security in case of crisis, using then the relocations between organizations of ner Group. The developed empirical research, once designed an specific questionnaire, allows us to conclude that the majority of the people declare a high level of Involvement, consider the ner an organizational and management tool which makes directing activity to reach customer satisfaction feasible, they perceive the existing Consistency and voice that this makes possible relationships based on mutual trust and they judge positively the existing Adaptability, portrayed by commitment to the internal solidarity and to society and community

Communicative Language Testing: Implications for Computer Based Language Testing in French for Specific Purposes

[EN] Current evolutions of language testing have led to integrating computers in FSP assessments both in oral and written communicative tasks. This paper deals with two main issues: learners expectations about the types of questions in FSP computer based assessments and the relation with their own experience. This paper describes the experience of 23 freshmen French students enrolled in the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia who took a computer based version of a FSP test. Their attitudes were observed and annotated. The learners expressed their difficulties in taking a FSP computer delivered test. The paper suggests that the dramatic change between general French and French for Specific Purposes may imply significant differences in the students to the new computer context due to the changes in vocabulary, register and language use as well as computer ergonomics. The paper concludes: firstly, that basic notions of certain specialized forms and vocabulary should be introduced in high school; secondly, that FSP should tend to be more communicative and that FSP teaching should be more reflective and communicative than it may be in colleges at the moment; thirdly, that if computer based tests may be a valuable tool in FSP testing (Garcia Laborda et al, 2010), item choice and prompts should be carefully considered. Eating with the enemy? Mimic complex between a stingless bee and assassin bugs

In this study, we record for the first time the genus Notocyrtus (Heteroptera, Reduviidae) from Argentina based on three species: Notocyrtus dorsalis (Gray), Notocyrtus dispersus Carvalho & Costa, and Notocyrtus foveatus Stal. We also describe and illustrate a mimetic complex comprising the three Notocyrtus species and Tetragona clavipes (Fabricius) (Apidae, Meliponini), that were collected on Bahuinia forficata Link (Leguminosae: Caesalpinioideae). Una nueva especie de Plebeia Schwarz (Hymenoptera: Apidae) de las Yungas Argentinas

A new species of Plebeia Schwarz (Hymenoptera: Apidae) from Argentina is described and illustrated. Plebeia mansita Alvarez & Rasmussen sp. nov. occurs in the extreme northwest of the country and is restricted to the biogeographic province of the Yungas, where it is found at altitudes above 1,000 m. Observations on behavior, biology and nesting substrates of the new species are presented.Se describe e ilustra una nueva especie de Plebeia Schwarz (Hymenoptera: Apidae) en Argentina. Plebeia mansita Alvarez & Rasmussen sp. nov. ocurre en el extremo noroeste del país y se halla restringida a la provincia biogeográfica de las yungas, donde es encontrada a altitudes mayores a 1.000 m.
