Herpesvirus bovino-1.1: respuesta inmune, transmisión y pérdidas reproductivas post-infección

La primera etapa del presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo estudiar las posibles causas por las que no se generó respuesta humoral detectable en un toro Limousin del cuál se aisló una cepa de Herpesvirus bovino tipo1 subtipo 1 (BoHV-1.1). La infección latente con BoHV-1 fue confirmada mediante inmunodepresión con corticoides. La inmunogenicidad de esta cepa fue comprobada mediante la infección experimental de terneros. Cinco años post-aislamiento se detectaron anticuerpos antiBoHV-1 en el toro Limousin y se confirmó la super infección natural con dos subtipos diferentes de BoHV-1. El objetivo de la segunda etapa fue estudiar la dinámica de la respuesta inmune, la transmisión y el efecto sobre la tasa de preñez (TP), en vacas de carne servidas por monta natural, con toros en diferentes condiciones con respecto a la infección con BoHV-1.1. Se utilizaron 87 vacas y 3 toros distribuidos al azar en 3 grupos. La utilización de un toro seropositivo latentemente infectado no afectó la TP y el virus no fue trasmitido a las vacas servidas. El uso de un toro en el periodo agudo de infección ocasionó al comienzo del servicio una diferencia en la TP de 53 % con el grupo control (p=0.0001) y el 70 % de las vacas expuestas fueron infectadas. La dinámica de la respuesta humoral fue estudiada durante 338 días, observándose que el 53 % de las vacas infectadas se hicieron seronegativas 2 a 5 meses postinfección. La presencia de bovinos latentemente infectados con BoHV-1 que no poseen niveles de anticuerpos detectables por las técnicas serológicas utilizadas, fue asociada en primera instancia a un problema individual. Los resultados obtenidos, plantean la posibilidad de que esta condición pueda ser encontrada frecuentemente a nivel de campo, lo que constituye un importante riesgo epidemiológico para el control de la enfermedad

Diseño de un sistema de bombeo fotovoltaico para el cultivo de esparrago en el fundo Bobadilla - Ferreñafe

Se diseñó un sistema de bombeo fotovoltaico que permita satisfacer la demanda del recurso hídrico requerido por los cultivos de esparrago del fundo Bobadilla provincia de Ferreñafe – Departamento de Lambayeque. Se determinó la necesidad de este estudio para satisfacer la demanda de recurso hídrico requerido, ya que este tendrá un impacto positivo en la población en el uso agrícola. Esto se logró diseñando un sistema de riego tecnificado por goteo con bombas activadas por celdas fotovoltaicas aprovechando la radiación solar para poder generar energía eléctrica. A continuación se desarrolló los cálculos requeridos para el sistema de bombeo en la transmisión de agua en riego tecnificado por goteo y selección de bombas, asimismo la radiación solar para la carga de baterías fue por medio de los paneles solares con una capacidad de carga de 142Ah/día con una corriente de 25.06A. Se concluyó que el sistema de irrigación del cultivo de espárragos por medio de una energía renovable si es una buena alternativa en el fundo Bobadilla en la provincia de Ferreñafe

The impact of socioeconomic and phenotypic traits on self-perception of ethnicity in Latin America

Self-perception of ethnicity is a complex social trait shaped by both, biological and non-biological factors. We developed a comprehensive analysis of ethnic self-perception (ESP) on a large sample of Latin American mestizos from five countries, differing in age, socio-economic and education context, external phenotypic attributes and genetic background. We measured the correlation of ESP against genomic ancestry, and the influence of physical appearance, socio-economic context, and education on the distortion observed between both. Here we show that genomic ancestry is correlated to aspects of physical appearance, which in turn affect the individual ethnic self-perceived ancestry. Also, we observe that, besides the significant correlation among genomic ancestry and ESP, specific physical or socio-economic attributes have a strong impact on self-perception. In addition, the distortion among ESP and genomic ancestry differs across age ranks/countries, probably suggesting the underlying effect of past public policies regarding identity. Our results indicate that individuals’ own ideas about its origins should be taken with caution, especially in aspects of modern life, including access to work, social policies, and public health key decisions such as drug administration, therapy design, and clinical trials, among others

Inhibitor of DNA Binding 3 Limits Development of Murine Slam-Associated Adaptor Protein-Dependent “Innate” γδ T cells

Id3 is a dominant antagonist of E protein transcription factor activity that is induced by signals emanating from the alphabeta and gammadelta T cell receptor (TCR). Mice lacking Id3 were previously shown to have subtle defects in positive and negative selection of TCRalphabeta+ T lymphocytes. More recently, Id3(-/-) mice on a C57BL/6 background were shown to have a dramatic expansion of gammadelta T cells.Here we report that mice lacking Id3 have reduced thymocyte numbers but increased production of gammadelta T cells that express a Vgamma1.1+Vdelta6.3+ receptor with restricted junctional diversity. These Vgamma1.1+Vdelta6.3+ T cells have multiple characteristics associated with "innate" lymphocytes such as natural killer T (NKT) cells including an activated phenotype, expression of the transcription factor PLZF, and rapid production of IFNg and interleukin-4. Moreover, like other "innate" lymphocyte populations, development of Id3(-/-) Vgamma1.1+Vdelta6.3+ T cells requires the signaling adapter protein SAP.Our data provide novel insight into the requirements for development of Vgamma1.1+Vdelta6.3+ T cells and indicate a role for Id3 in repressing the response of "innate" gammadelta T cells to SAP-mediated expansion or survival

Obeticholic acid for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis: interim analysis from a multicentre, randomised, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial

Background Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a common type of chronic liver disease that can lead to cirrhosis. Obeticholic acid, a farnesoid X receptor agonist, has been shown to improve the histological features of NASH. Here we report results from a planned interim analysis of an ongoing, phase 3 study of obeticholic acid for NASH. Methods In this multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, adult patients with definite NASH,non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) activity score of at least 4, and fibrosis stages F2–F3, or F1 with at least oneaccompanying comorbidity, were randomly assigned using an interactive web response system in a 1:1:1 ratio to receive oral placebo, obeticholic acid 10 mg, or obeticholic acid 25 mg daily. Patients were excluded if cirrhosis, other chronic liver disease, elevated alcohol consumption, or confounding conditions were present. The primary endpointsfor the month-18 interim analysis were fibrosis improvement (≥1 stage) with no worsening of NASH, or NASH resolution with no worsening of fibrosis, with the study considered successful if either primary endpoint was met. Primary analyses were done by intention to treat, in patients with fibrosis stage F2–F3 who received at least one dose of treatment and reached, or would have reached, the month 18 visit by the prespecified interim analysis cutoff date. The study also evaluated other histological and biochemical markers of NASH and fibrosis, and safety. This study is ongoing, and registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT02548351, and EudraCT, 20150-025601-6. Findings Between Dec 9, 2015, and Oct 26, 2018, 1968 patients with stage F1–F3 fibrosis were enrolled and received at least one dose of study treatment; 931 patients with stage F2–F3 fibrosis were included in the primary analysis (311 in the placebo group, 312 in the obeticholic acid 10 mg group, and 308 in the obeticholic acid 25 mg group). The fibrosis improvement endpoint was achieved by 37 (12%) patients in the placebo group, 55 (18%) in the obeticholic acid 10 mg group (p=0·045), and 71 (23%) in the obeticholic acid 25 mg group (p=0·0002). The NASH resolution endpoint was not met (25 [8%] patients in the placebo group, 35 [11%] in the obeticholic acid 10 mg group [p=0·18], and 36 [12%] in the obeticholic acid 25 mg group [p=0·13]). In the safety population (1968 patients with fibrosis stages F1–F3), the most common adverse event was pruritus (123 [19%] in the placebo group, 183 [28%] in the obeticholic acid 10 mg group, and 336 [51%] in the obeticholic acid 25 mg group); incidence was generally mild to moderate in severity. The overall safety profile was similar to that in previous studies, and incidence of serious adverse events was similar across treatment groups (75 [11%] patients in the placebo group, 72 [11%] in the obeticholic acid 10 mg group, and 93 [14%] in the obeticholic acid 25 mg group). Interpretation Obeticholic acid 25 mg significantly improved fibrosis and key components of NASH disease activity among patients with NASH. The results from this planned interim analysis show clinically significant histological improvement that is reasonably likely to predict clinical benefit. En la presente investigación, abordaremos el estudio analítico, critico, objetivo y sistemático de lo referente a la eficaz ejecución de las sentencias definitivas dictadas por los órganos jurisdiccionales particularmente por los jueces de primera instancia en materia civil, quienes son finalmente los encargados de llevar a cabo dicha ejecución; sin embargo y si nos remitimos a ver la actualidad y sobre todo en la praxis jurídica es muy común encontrarnos con las muy conocidas sentencias blancas, es decir resoluciones definitivas judiciales que aun y cuando dan la razón legal a alguna de las partes integrantes del proceso civil, suele acontecer que muchas veces es difícil por no decir casi imposible lograr la debida ejecución de la sentencia en todas sus partes, por un lado cuando la obligación implique alguna prestación de hacer, de dar o no hacer, dependiendo del negocio planteado, el condenado, sino se encuentra insolvente, bien puede colocarse ante una situación que dificulte la debida ejecución, sea esto conseguido por alguna ventaja maliciosa por el propio vencido
