In this study the needs presented by people with cerebral palsy (CP) in the aging process are collected. A total of 260 people with CP from different communities filled in a semistructured interview that collects information about how people with CP perceive their own aging, what their needs are and how those are met. Regarding the concerns raised, the most chosen responses, of a total of 640, were concerns about the existence of barriers, mainly architectural barriers, access to transportation and social barriers. Accessibility becomes an indispensable factor on the equality of opportunity. This analysis allows designing proposals to address these needs in the aging population with PC, since accessibility is a prerequisite for the participation in the society and the economy. Design for everybody is an obligation that derives from the right to universal accessibility. In order to that public awareness about the importance of making an accessible world able to include the great human diversity is required
Optimization and Validation of HS-GC/MS Method for the Controlled Release Study of Microencapsulated Specific Bioattractants for Target-Plaguicide Production
Insect plagues are a problem often hard to solve due to the harmful effects caused by the pesticides used to combat them. Consequently, the pesticide market is increasingly trying to develop new technologies to prevent the unwanted effects that common plague treatments usually bring with them. In this work, four specific bioattractants of Musca domestica, extracted from fungi (β-ocimene, phenol, p-cresol, and indole) were microencapsulated with β-cyclodextrin in order to produce an economically and environmentally sustainable bait containing biocides in the near future. Cyclodextrins will retain these volatile compounds until their use by the consumer when the product comes into contact with water. Then, the bioattractants will be released in the medium in a controlled manner. An analytical methodology based on headspace extraction coupled to gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (HS-GC/MS) has been developed and validated following Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and European Commission Directorate General for Health and Food Safety guidelines for the bioattractants controlled release study from the microencapsulated product. The analytical method has been shown to be accurate and precise and has the sensitivity required for controlled release studies of the four bioattractants analyzed. The release of the bioattractants from microencapsulated products achieved the “plateau” after 3 h in all cases. This research was funded by University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) (project GIU19/068)
Energetic metabolism in fasting sheep: regularization of metabolic profile by treatment with oral glucose, with prior handling of gastric groove
The objective of this research was to evaluate a possible corrective measure against negative metabolic states, as occurs in the advanced stage of gestation in ewes, and that sometimes produces a disease called pregnancy toxaemia. In the present research, we found that the joint administration of i.v. lysine-vasopressin (0.08 IU/kg body weight, BW) and an oral glucose solution (50 g) produces an increase in blood glucose, which persists for some time (up to 6 h); therefore, it could be used in the treatment of pregnancy toxaemia. This therapy is based on the fact that lysine-vasopressin induces gastric groove closure in adult ruminants, enabling orally administered glucose to reach the abomasum directly, from where it rapidly passes into the intestine and is immediately absorbed. We can say that the tested treatment causes a significant increase in blood glucose in ewes affected by toxaemia caused by fasting, which, although less marked than conventional therapy with intravenous drip glucose, remains longer, regularizing other parameters indicative of energy metabolism in fasting ewes
Wikileaks y el nuevo ecosistema informativo : Wikileaks and the new informative ecosystem
rodea.nternet has become a quick and usef
ul tool to spread news of great
global importance, such as recent politi
cal events in Tunisia and Egypt. This
immediacy and the lack of information
borders show a change in political
journalism, because it loses sight of the information professional, whose role of
intermediary between actual reality and th
e public is assumed by the own surfer,
who participates in construction and development of contents.
In order to describe this change, it takes
a case study of website Wikileaks, founded
in 2006 by the Australian hacker Julian
Assange, devoted to disclose filtered
reports and confidential datas about the
modus operandi of
various Governments
around the world.
The proposed work starts from a documentary bibliographical study on Wikileaks,
particularly the publication of more than 250.000 confidential cables, that were
sent by American embassies around the wo
rld to the Secretary of State, which has
created a true 'cablegate', a political scandal comparable to that once marked the
Watergate.
In the analytical part we chose a qualitative not experimental method, focusing on
the content published in online newspape
rs about the Wikileaks case. So you can
say that Assange and his web make a chan
ge in the informative ecosystem. A new
way of doing journalism rises in which qu
ality journalistic work appears to be
pushed to sift out and put in context.
The current challenge opened to political
journalism is to articulate a new mission within the informative landscape with the
three elements that bring added value: to
witness, to decipher and to interpret the
reality around us
Pluralism in crisis: Transformations of the spanish DTT market in the context of the recession
[Abstract]: This article discusses the most significant aspects of DTT’s evolution in Spain since the analogue switch-off in April 2010. It underscores the severe cutbacks affecting public-service television broadcasters and their impact, as well as a return to government control over the Spanish Broadcasting Corporation (RTVE) in particular. It also emphasises the major tendency towards concentration in the national private DTT market and the inviability of most regional and local broadcasters. All of these issues are analysed from the perspective of their worrying impact on pluralism.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación; CSO2010-1789
Citizens and Web 2.0: new forms of participation bet for the transparency in the management
administraciones, contribuyendo a la creación de una democracia participativaPlatforms online find in the use of the Web 2.0’s tools a revolutionary intention: to help to
stimulate the good practices and to raise the standards of performance of the different

online allows to form a new scene in which actions are organized, debates develop and ideas
are shared. Along this communication we analyze in which manner the platforms online
monnitor the public power and how there make possible many initiatives to promote the
transparency in the management of the different administrations, contributing to the creation
of a participative democracy
Synthetic and Mechanistic Studies on the Solvent-Dependent Copper-Catalyzed Formation of Indolizines and Chalcones
Copper nanoparticles supported on activated carbon have been found to catalyze the multicomponent synthesis of indolizines from pyridine-2-carbaldehyde derivatives, secondary amines, and terminal alkynes in dichloromethane; in the absence of solvent, however, heterocyclic chalcones are formed. We provide compelling evidence that both processes take place through aldehyde–amine–alkyne coupling intermediates. In contrast to other well-known mechanisms for chalcone formation from aldehydes and alkynes, a new reaction pathway involving propargyl amines as intermediates that do not undergo rearrangement is presented. The formation of indolizines or chalcones is driven by inductive and solvent effects, with a wide array of both being reported. In both reactions, the nanoparticulate catalyst has been shown to be superior to some commercially available copper catalysts, and it could be recycled in the case of the chalcone synthesis. This work was generously supported by the Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (MINECO; CTQ2011-24151).
