Knowledge management : critical perspectives on e-business activities

This article is both a review and an agenda-setting piece. It argues that knowledge management suffers from conceptual and definitional ambiguity, oversimplification of its development processes, and methodological limitations. Nevertheless, there is a consensus in business and academia that knowledge is a key component of success and allows firms to achieve and sustains competitive advantages. In a digital era, these advantages arise from the potential of data and information that can be gathered, processed, shared, and used to improve e-business activities. Thus, this research bridges the gap in the assessment of knowledge management and e-business relationship, by applying an SEM to a large database sample of KM activities performed by European firms.N/

The military dictatorship revisited on the Brazilian contemporary cinema

Este artigo apresenta e analisa um inventário com vinte e cinco filmes contemporâneos que fazem representações sobre a ditadura militar no Brasil. Entre o documental e o ficcional, distintos olhares sobre o período autoritário evidenciam questões polemicas e relevantes, que precisam ser mais profundamente debatidas pela sociedade. A análise geográfica dos filmes em foco contribuem para esta discussão.El artículo presenta y analiza un inventario con veinticinco películas brasileñas contemporáneas que hacen representaciones acerca de dictadura militar en Brasil. O artigo apresenta e analisa um inventário com vinte e cinco filmes brasileiros contemporâneos que fazem representações sobre a mulher. As elaborações ficcionais sobre a mulher no cinema evidenciam que o seu papel na sociedade tem se modificado. Se em outros tempos do cinema brasileiro o feminino já foi tratado como o sexo frágil, associado à idéia de 181 mulher objeto, submissa ao homem, nos filmes atuais a mulher tem assumido um papel de protagonista nas relações de gênero.El artículo presenta e analiza un inventario con veinticinco películas brasileñas contemporáneos que hacen representaciones acerca de la mujer. Technical report of Raspberry Pi prototype for lectures in public universities

This paper presents a low-cost prototype for lectures in public universities based on Raspberry Pi. It is described how to connect and configure the prototype using an infrared remote control. Technologies applied in education are widely explored in recent researches and can be held to lower the cost. The proposed prototype is 86\% cheaper on average (compared to ordinary computer) and can be used for automation of the classrooms besides lectures. For example, the prototype can be additionally used to access control, environment monitoring, and management of the environment utilization by the users

LiDAR para regiões de interesse

In this document is presented the work developed in the master thesis on "Region of Interest LiDAR". The goal is to develop a LiDAR capable of characterizing a region of interest with high precision. Taking into account the high error in a triangulation LiDAR for great distances, an ROI LiDAR could be able to complement a triangulation LiDAR, making it possible to distinguish different spots at great distances. This LiDAR is validated using a simulation tool developed in Matlab throughout the thesis, based on a system consisting of a mirror, a lens and a sensor, where all defined parameters, from lens diameter, the focal length of the lens, the distance between mirror and lens and sensor size influence the results. These values were defined through different tests so that, with the defined values, it was possible to achieve the objectives of this thesis. This work theoretically shows that a LiDAR ROI is doable and feasible, being an option to consider for the automotive industry, completing a triangular LiDAR.Neste documento é apresentado o trabalho desenvolvido na tese de mestrado sobre "LIDAR para regiões de interesse". O objetivo é desenvolver um LiDAR capaz de caracterizar uma região de interesse com elevada precisão. Tendo em conta o erro elevado num LiDAR por triangulação, para grandes distâncias, um LiDAR para regiões de interesse conseguiria complementar um LiDAR por triangulação fazendo, com que seja possível distinguir diferentes pontos a grandes distâncias. Este LiDAR é validado usando uma ferramenta de simulação desenvolvida em Matlab ao longo da dissertação, baseada num sistema constituido por um espelho, uma lente e um sensor, onde todos os parâmetros definidos, desde o diametro da lente, a distância focal da lente, a distância entre espelho e lente e tamanho do sensor influenciam os resultados, estes valores foram definidos através de diferentes testes de modo a que com os valores definidos fosse possível atingir os objetivos desta tese. Store-and-forward CDC packet transmission in digital systems

Data transmission across clock domains is a major point of interest by ASIC designers as a limited bandwidth can be responsible for a processing power bottleneck that affects the entire system. Clock domain crossing is inherently expensive in terms of area and latency as it requires overcoming issues related to the physical nature of integrated circuit latches, in particular metastability. These issues are dangerous as they do not manifest in RTL simulation. Due to this, designers often opt for generic data synchronisation solutions that are not fully suited to the nature of the data being transferred.This dissertation presents a clock domain crossing mechanism that allows two clock domains to share a common memory to transfer packet-based data. The mechanism consists in a memory controller that coordinates commands from a push (write) domain and a pop (read) domain.The main objective of the memory controller project consists in the implementation of efficient synchronisation methods in order to eliminate the need for separate synchronisation and storage memories. In essence, the controller is an extension of an asynchronous FIFO controller with added functionality, supporting multiple virtual FIFOs and variable length data packets
