    Effet du compost et de Trichoderma harzianum sur la suppression de la verticilliose de la tomate

    Objectifs : L’utilisation des moyens de lutte biologique contre les agents phytopathogĂšnes a connue un essor considĂ©rable durant les deux derniĂšres dĂ©cades. L’objectif du prĂ©sent travail est d’étudier l’effet d’un compost de dĂ©chets urbains solides, de ses extraits aqueux et de diverses souches de Trichoderma harzianum sur la suppression de la verticilliose de la tomate causĂ©e par verticillium dahliae.MatĂ©riel et mĂ©thodes : Des plantules de tomates inoculĂ©es par des souches de T. Harzianum, traitĂ©es avec le compost ou encore avec l’extrait de compost sont inoculĂ©es avec l’isolat p3 de v. Dahliae.RĂ©sultats : Nos rĂ©sultats ont montrĂ© que l’amendement du sol avec le compost Ă  un taux de 20% a assurĂ© la meilleure suppression de la verticilliose avec 92,38% de rĂ©duction de l’indice de rabougrissement (ir) et 92,41% de rĂ©duction de l’indice d’altĂ©ration foliaire (iaf). Suivi par la fertigation des plantes par les extraits de compost ou leur inoculation par la souche tcomp de T. Harzianum, isolĂ©e Ă  partir du compost, qui ont induit des pourcentages similaires de rĂ©duction de l’ir et de l’iaf. Alors que les deux autres souches de T. Harzianum ont induit des pourcentages de rĂ©duction qui n’ont pas dĂ©passĂ© 81% et 75% pour l’ir et l’iaf, respectivement.La suppression de la verticilliose semble due Ă  la stimulation de la croissance vĂ©gĂ©tale des plantes et aussi Ă  l’inhibition de la pĂ©nĂ©tration et de la migration du pathogĂšne Ă  travers les tissus vasculaires de la plante. En effet, le traitement des plantes avec le compost, l’extrait ou encore leur inoculation avec la souche tcomp a permis de confiner le pathogĂšne au niveau des racines de 50 Ă  60% des plantes, alors que les autres traitements ont permis son ascension jusqu’à l’hypocotyle de 70% des plantes inoculĂ©es. Les plantes tĂ©moins inoculĂ©es par le pathogĂšne l’ont hĂ©bergĂ© jusqu’à l’épicotyle de 100% des plantes.Conclusion et application de la recherche : le compost Ă©tudiĂ© constitue un bon amendement en tant que biopesticide contre la verticilliose de la tomate. Cette aptitude suppressive est liĂ©e, en partie, Ă  sa population de T.     Multiple myeloma presenting with external ear canal mass

    The manifestations of multiple myeloma are protean and related to bony osteolytic lesions, and to medullar and renal insufficiency. We report a patient who presented with otalgia as the inaugural symptom of multiple myeloma. Local irradiation combined with systemic chemotherapy led to the disappearance of the temporal bone mass and the accompanying symptoms. To date, 24 months after the diagnosis, the patient is still in remission. The literature on otological involvement in multiple myeloma is reviewed.     CD146, a novel target of CD44-signaling, suppresses breast tumor cell invasion.

    We have previously validated three novel CD44-downstream positively regulated transcriptional targets, including Cortactin, Survivin and TGF-ÎČ2, and further characterized the players underlying their separate signaling pathways. In the present study, we identified CD146 as a potential novel target, negatively regulated by CD44. While the exact function of CD146 in breast cancer (BC) is not completely understood, substantial evidence from our work and others support the hypothesis that CD146 is a suppressor of breast tumor progression. Therefore, using molecular and pharmacological approaches both in vitro and in breast tissues of human samples, the present study validated CD146 as a novel target of CD44-signaling suppressed during BC progression. Our results revealed that CD44 activation could cause a substantial decrease of CD146 expression with an equally notable converse effect upon CD44-siRNA inhibition. More interestingly, activation of CD44 decreased cellular CD146 and increased soluble CD146 through CD44-dependent activation of MMP. Here, we provide a possible mechanism by which CD146 suppresses BC progression as a target of CD44-downstream signaling, regulating neovascularization and cancer cell motility

    Assessing indicators of runoff and erosion by rain simulation in the Ben Ahmed watershed (Central Morocco)

    The objective of this study was to investigate the risks of runoff and erosion of soils in the Ben Ahmed watershed, it's located in the region of casa-settat, 70 km south-east of Casablanca, and characterized by a semi-arid climate. The study consists of measuring on 1 m2 plot, the volumes of runoff and sediments, under the influence of rainfall generation (60mm/30 min). Soil samples were collected from each plot to determine texture, organic matter and humidity. Results obtained show that the detachability varies between 19 and 34 g/l, infiltrability oscillate between 15 and 37 mm.h-. Pearson correlation test shows that infiltration was negatively correlated with runoff and soil detachability (R=-0.99, R=-0.87 respectively). It‘s significantly correlated with the proportions of sand(R=0.69), silt (R= -0.98) an clay (R= 0.92), however, is weakly correlated with organic matter (R=-0.32). Infiltration and detachability were significantly correlated with humidity (R = -0.99, R = -0.63respectively)

    Neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy for locally advanced gastric cancer: a phase I-II study

    Background: To study in a phase I-II trial the maximum tolerated dose, the toxicity, and the tolerance of adding radiotherapy to systemic chemotherapy administered preoperatively in patients with locoregionally advanced gastric adenocarcinoma. Patients and methods: Patients with adenocarcinoma of the stomach (T3-4Nany or TanyN+), performance status ≀1, normal hematological, hepatic and renal functions received two cycles of cisplatin 100 mg/m2 on day 1, 5-FU 800 mg/m2 on days 1 to 4 and leucovorin 60 mg b.i.d. on days 1 to 4 q3w, concomitantly with radiation therapy escalated in three dose tiers (31.2, 38.4 and 45.6 Gy). Results: Nineteen patients were accrued and 18 completed neoadjuvant therapy. Major toxicity consisted of grade 3/4 leucopenia and mucositis in 89% and 36% of the patients, respectively. Only one episode of febrile neutropenia was recorded. Dose level number 2 (38.4 Gy) with the chemotherapy given q4w is the recommended dose level. All patients were subsequently operated and no fatalities occurred. Pathological assessment showed one complete and eight partial responses. Two- and 3-year relapse-free survival rates were 57% and 50%, respectively. Only one patient relapsed locally. The peritoneum was the most frequent site of relapse. Conclusions: This neoadjuvant therapeutic program is relatively well tolerated, does not seem to increase the operative risk, and might increase the locoregional control of the disease.     Modelization of flow electrification in a polymer melt

    Flow electrification of polymer melts is an important side effect of polymer processing. The studies dealing with this phenomenon are seldom and most of the scientific work has been focused on flow electrification of aqueous and insulating Newtonian liquids. From that prior art it is well established that the flow electrification in Newtonian liquids is a consequence of the formation of an ionic double layer. Convection of this layer induces the electrification of the liquid at the outlet of the pipe. In those models, the key parameters governing the flow electrification are thus the intrinsic electrical properties of the polymer and the flow characteristics. In this work, we reconsider the assumptions made previously and we propose a new approach to modelise the flow electrification in the particular case of non-Newtonian polymer materials in laminar flow conditions. We establish that, a key parameter for the electrification quantification in the polymer melt is the shape of the velocity profile. Additionally, in some cases, we show that a slip velocity at the polymer/die wall interface must be considered to describe accurately the electrification. As a consequence, we deduce that the slip velocity at the interface can be calculated by measuring the electrification: this work gives an alternative manner to measure the slip velocity during polymer flow

    Ethnobotany Study of Medicinal Plants Used in the Treatment of Respiratory Diseases in the Middle Region of Oum Rbai

    The ethnobotanical study carried out in the region of Oum Rbia (Morocco) made it possible to identify the medicinal plants used by the local population and to collect the maximum information on this use. A survey of 1360 people from the region's population noted that 170 people use medicinal plants against respiratory diseases. Women accounted for 55.3% of the workforce versus 44.7% for men; Married people 70% against 28% for singles. The illiteracy rate is high (34.1%). The leaves are the most widely used part of the plant. Infusion and decoction are the most commonly used methods for preparing traditional remedies. The most widely used species in the treatment of respiratory diseases are: Origanun glandulosum, Eucalyptus globulus, Nigella sativa, Mentha pulegium, Lavandula stoechas, Zingiber officinale, Ammodaucus leucotrichus, Ficus carica. In addition, some species have toxicity either because of the ignorance of the necessary dose or because the people treated are affected by other diseases. Thus, the survey made it possible to inventory 66 medicinal species which are divided into 36 plant families; Lamiaceae (21.2%), Myrtaceae (10.6%), Apiaceae (8.8%), Amaryllydaceae (7.7%) and Zingiberaceae (7.1%). These results resulted in a catalog of medicinal plants used in the study area to treat respiratory diseases. It is a local know-how that must be considered as a heritage to be preserved and developed

    Husbandry practices in aquaculture production may lead to stress processes and oxidative stress damages on fish tissues. Functional ingredients have profiled as suitable candidates for reinforcing the fish antioxidant response and stress tolerance. In addition, selective breeding strategies have also demonstrated a correlation between fish growth and stress reactiveness, which may be a key component in species domestication. The present study evaluates the potential of three different functional additives for gill endogenous antioxidant capacity and stress relief in a growth selected genotype of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) juveniles fed low-FM/FO diets. For this purpose, after 72 days of a feeding trial, all fish were subjected to an oxidative stress challenge consisting of a 1 h bath exposure to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2 ) at a total concentration of 50 ppm. The functional additives induced a better recovery from the stress process, with a higher reduction in fish circulating plasma cortisol 24 h after oxidative stress.     Genotype x nutrition interactions in European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax): effects on gut health and intestinal microbiota

    One of the main objectives of the present study was an effective replacement of dietary fishmeal/fish oil (FM/FO) by new raw materials without negatively affecting European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) performance and health status within a selection breeding context. The genomic selection of this species is still in its infancy if compared to salmonids and in particular, the role of D.labrax genome in shaping the gut microbiome, has been scarcely investigated. Wildtype (WT) and selected (GS) sea bass were fed with two diets: a control (20% FM/ 5–9% FO), and a “future” (F) diet, in which FM was decreased to 10% being replaced by poultry meal, whereas FO was completely replaced by a blend of rapeseed, poultry, and algae oils. The morphological evaluation of the intestine revealed a well-organized folding pattern and a conserved gut epithelial barrier for all fish groups. Despite a basal level of inflammation in the proximal intestine of WT fish, no differences were observed neither in the morphometric characteristics of goblet cells nor in the expression of GALT-related genes in response to fish genotype or diet. At distal intestine, WT fish showed a higher inflammatory status and larger goblet cells than GS fish and within the same genotype, fish fed the F diet had in general larger goblet cells. In distal intestine, a significant effect was found on the expression of 3 out of 7 target GALT genes. In particular, the expression of cytokines il-1ÎČ, tnf-α, and il-10 was different, showing an interaction effect diet x genotype. Diet had a lower influence upon gut bacterial composition than genotype. Indeed, regardless of the diet, WT fish showed higher species richness than GS genotype and this could be a direct consequence of selective breeding for multiple traits selection including growth, external morphology for lower abdominal fat deposition and adaptation to multiple and successive feed sources and composition across generations of selection. Furthermore, the gut microbiota of GS fish shared a reduced individual variability, indicating an enhanced capacity to cope with changes in diet composition. The less changes of GS sea bass at the level of gut bacterial composition in cumulating data collected with the feeds, demonstrate a capacity to reshape their microbiota thus better adapting to the diet, but with no negative impact on their growth performances, and even a better growth. A significant genotype effect was found for specific bacterial taxa, such as Paracoccus genus and other genera belonging to Moraxellaceae family, which were enriched in WT fish, regardless of the diet. Interestingly, the relative abundance of Paracoccus genus was positively correlated with higher proinflammatory cytokine il-1ÎČ expression found in distal intestine of wildtype sea bass
