Il genere biografico degli umanisti e la ricezione nella Penisola Iberica nel Quattrocento : appunti per una revisione

The recovery of the biographical genre in the framework of the Greek and Latin authors was a phenomenon during the Italian Quattrocento of great literary and cultural reach whose expansive wave reached the Iberian Peninsula in the same period. Some chapters of this reception are to be connected directly to the resurgence of Plutarch and the Quattrocento Latin translations of the Vite parallele. A large number of these versions were published for the first time around 1470 and a 1478 reprint was later fully translated into Spanish; this resurgence involved a considerable increase of biographical booklets in Hispanic territory, not always taken with due consideration

Alfonso de Palencia y la traducción de las Vidas de Plutarco (nuevos datos en torno al texto de partida)

This paper is about the Castilian version of Plutarch’s Lives (Sevilla; Cuatro compañeros alemanes, 1491), by Alfonso de Palencia (1423-1492), based on the Latin translation done by Bruni, Guarino, Tudertino, Barbaro, Filelfo, Giustinian, Acciaiuoli and other Italian humanists from the beginning of the fifteenth century. All these versions were put together and printed in 1470 (Rome) and reissued, with some varations, in 1478 (Venice). It aims to shed light on the reasons that induced Fernández de Palencia to translate this work and to provide a thorough analysis of his relationship to Italian humanism and its representatives, such as Vespasiano da Bisticci or Donato Acciaiuoli. It examines the differences between the indexes of both Italian editions in order to establish which one was used by Palencia as his main working text, also considering evidence from other sources.El presente artículo estudia la versión castellana de las Vidas paralelas de Plutarco (Sevilla; Cuatro compañeros alemanes, 1491), realizada por Alfonso de Palencia (1423-1492) a partir de la traducción latina de Bruni, Guarino, Tudertino, Barbaro, Filelfo, Giustinian, Acciaiuoli y otros humanistas italianos que, desde principios del Cuatrocientos, habían llevado a cabo, y cuyos textos fueron reunidos e impresos en 1470 (Roma) para editarse nuevamente, con variaciones, en 1478 (Venecia). Se pretende arrojar luz sobre los motivos que impulsaron a Fernández de Palencia a traducir esta obra y profundizar en la relación que mantuvo con el humanismo italiano y con sus representantes, como Vespasiano da Bisticci o Donato Acciaiuoli. Así mismo se analizan las diferencias existentes en el índice de los dos incunables italianos para establecer con precisión cuál fue el texto base del que se sirvió Palencia, apuntando también a otras posibles fuentes de información

Sobre la complejidad de los datos en Humanidades, o cómo traducir las ideas a datos

Este artículo explora el concepto de datos informáticos aplicados a las Humanidades a través de tres perspectivas diferentes: en primer lugar, se analiza el significado del término desde un punto de vista histórico y se sitúa en el contexto de las Humanidades Digitales prestando atención a su acepción más técnica. A continuación, se discute sobre la naturaleza, las tipologías y se abordan algunos debates de los últimos años, como es el de su aparente objetividad. Por último, y en conexión con la producción, gestión y análisis de los datos, se toma en consideración el fenómeno big data y los desafíos de su aplicación en el terreno de las Humanidades. Se pretende, en definitiva, poner de relieve el papel central de los datos en el quehacer humanístico y cómo, para el humanista actual, existen competencias digitales básicas ineludibles

Implicaciones intelectuales y metodológicas en la selección de los autores y la terminología traductora castellana del siglo XV

Translations were a crucial channel for the reception of Italian Humanism in the Iberian Peninsula. This intellectual activity not only led to the recuperation of a significant part of the classical Greco-Roman legacy, but also fomented engagement with the works and ideas of contemporary Italian authors. On the one hand, this article underscores the critical role of translation in cultural transfers between both peninsulas and shows the change in authors selected to translate over the course of fifteenth century. On the other hand, it analyzes the implications of these author selections, arguing that they reveal at once an ideological transformation, a change in the conception of the very act of translation, and the adoption of new terminology.Las traducciones constituyeron uno de los canales prioritarios en la recepción del humanismo italiano en la Península Ibérica. A través de esta actividad intelectual, no sólo se recuperó una parte considerable del legado clásico grecolatino, sino que propició un acercamiento a la obra y a las ideas de los autores italianos contemporáneos. Por un lado, el presente trabajo insiste en el papel central de la traducción en el marco de la transferencia cultural entre ambas penínsulas y evidencia el cambio en la selección de los autores traducidos a lo largo del siglo XV; por otro lado, se analizan las implicaciones de dichas elecciones que, además de constituir una transformación a nivel ideológico, supusieron un cambio en la concepción de la actividad de la traducción y en la adopción de una nueva terminología
