    Architectural Considerations for a Self-Configuring Routing Scheme for Spontaneous Networks

    Decoupling the permanent identifier of a node from the node's topology-dependent address is a promising approach toward completely scalable self-organizing networks. A group of proposals that have adopted such an approach use the same structure to: address nodes, perform routing, and implement location service. In this way, the consistency of the routing protocol relies on the coherent sharing of the addressing space among all nodes in the network. Such proposals use a logical tree-like structure where routes in this space correspond to routes in the physical level. The advantage of tree-like spaces is that it allows for simple address assignment and management. Nevertheless, it has low route selection flexibility, which results in low routing performance and poor resilience to failures. In this paper, we propose to increase the number of paths using incomplete hypercubes. The design of more complex structures, like multi-dimensional Cartesian spaces, improves the resilience and routing performance due to the flexibility in route selection. We present a framework for using hypercubes to implement indirect routing. This framework allows to give a solution adapted to the dynamics of the network, providing a proactive and reactive routing protocols, our major contributions. We show that, contrary to traditional approaches, our proposal supports more dynamic networks and is more robust to node failures

    Innate Sensing of the Gut Microbiota: Modulation of Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases

    The mammalian gastrointestinal tract harbors a diverse microbial community with which dynamic interactions have been established over millennia of coevolution. Commensal bacteria and their products are sensed by innate receptors expressed in gut epithelia and in gut-associated immune cells, thereby promoting the proper development of mucosal immune system and host homeostasis. Many studies have demonstrated that host-microbiota interactions play a key role during local and systemic immunity. Therefore, this review will focus on how innate sensing of the gut microbiota and their metabolites through inflammasome and toll-like receptors impact the modulation of a distinct set of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.     Characterization and Agronomic Evaluation of Chia Germplasm in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina

    Trabajo presentado a IV Conference Ia ValSe-Food CYTED and VII Symposium Chia-Link, La Plata y Jujuy, Argentina, 14–18 noviembre de 2022Chia (Salvia hispanica L.), an ancestral crop currently revalued for its nutritional properties, is one of the main sources of omega-3 fatty acids. It is a short-day plant and sensitive to frost. The objective of this study was to assess the possibility of growing chia in La Plata (Buenos Aires, Argentina) (34°54′29″ S, 58°2′25″ W) by analyzing interpopulation variability between four accessions of this species. Chia was sown on February 11 in a randomized complete block design (three replicates). Ten uniform and representative plants per plot were labeled and monitored throughout the crop cycle. Phenological stages and morphological characteristics (plant height, width of the main stem, number of pairs of folded leaves and number of pairs of side shoots, and length of central inflorescence) were recorded from seedling emergence to harvest. The emergence and the first pair of unfolded leaves were recorded 3 and 10 days after sowing, respectively. The beginning of verticillaster emergence was detected after 50 days and the beginning of flowering after 66 days of sowing. The highest growth rates were achieved in CMP and EMP. After 77 days of sowing, CMP presented the highest values for the width of the main stem (10.4 mm) and height (90.89 cm), which were statistically different from EMP. The lowest variability between populations was found for the number of pairs of unfolded leaves and side shoots. The observed variability is promising for plant breeding to obtain cultivars capable of completing their cycle at this latitude.EEA SaltaFil: Rodríguez, María Emilia.     Programming of the merger process for small foundries

    Frente a vários desafios no âmbito de competitividade mundial, a indústria de fundição de metais ferrosos busca medidas de redução de custos de seus processos internos. Neste trabalho, através do estudo de um modelo matemático relacionado à otimização de processos produtivos, busca-se auxiliar as empresas nas tomadas de decisão tático-operacional e, consequentemente, obter redução de custos de produção. Este estudo visa a minimização da função custo através da minimização das penalidades – entendidas como variáveis – envolvidas no processo, para melhor atendimento da carteira de pedidos. Estas variáveis são referentes a atrasos e antecipações de fusões de ligas, bem como preparação do forno. O modelo desenvolvido para empresas de pequeno porte é um modelo de programação linear estruturada multiperíodo inteira mista, resolvida através de programação em MatLab. Nas condições apresentadas, o modelo se mostrou satisfatório quanto a possibilidade de redução de custos em função de uma melhor programação das fusões, chegando a obter até 91% de redução de custo total na programação em um dos cenários estudados, o que não podia ser verificado anteriormente através de uma programação manual.Faced with several challenges in the context of global competitiveness, the ferrous metal smelting industry seeks measures to reduce the costs of its internal processes. In this work, through the study of a mathematical model related to the optimization of productive processes, it is sought to help the companies in tactical-operational decision making and, consequently, to obtain reduction of production costs. This study aims at minimizing the cost function by minimizing the penalties involved in the process, to better serve the order book. These penalties refer to delays and anticipations of alloy mergers as well as penalties for furnace preparation. The model developed for small businesses is a multiperiod structured linear programming mixed, solved through programming in MatLab. The model proved to be satisfactory in terms of meeting the proposed objectives, reducing the total cost of the programming (this cost refers to the predefined value for the conditions of: keeping items in stock, delaying items in manufacturing, switching between different alloys in sequential loads). According to the simulations of conditions, up to 91% of the total cost reduction was obtained, which could not be verified previously through manual programming.Fil: Faria, Larissa.     NucleusJ: an ImageJ plugin for quantifying 3D images of inter- phase nuclei

    ABSTRACT Summary: NucleusJ is a simple and user-friendly ImageJ plugin dedicated to the characterization of nuclear morphology and chromatin organization in 3D. Starting from image stacks, the nuclear boundary is delimited by combining the Otsu segmentation method with optimization of nuclear sphericity. Chromatin domains are segmented by partitioning the nucleus using a 3D watershed algorithm and by thresholding a contrast measure over the resulting regions. As output, NucleusJ quantifies 15 parameters including shape and size of nuclei as well as intra-nuclear objects and their position within the nucleus. A step-by-step documentation is available for selftraining, together with data sets of nuclei with different nuclear organization.     Caracterización de núculas de chía (salvia hispanica l.) mediante la aplicación de técnicas convencionales y no convencionales para el desarrollo de protocolos de conservación

    El deterioro de semillas en bancos de germoplasma se evalúa por pruebas de viabilidad, germinación, vigor e integridad. Sin embargo, su estudio puede abordarse por técnicas como calorimetría diferencial de barrido (DSC) y espectroscopía infrarroja por transformada de Fourier (FTIR). Las semillas con alto tenor lipídico, como las de chía (~35%) pueden presentar dificultades para su conservación debido a la degradación de los lípidos que afecta su viabilidad. El objetivo fue estudiar características fisiológicas y biofísicas en núculas de genotipos de chía por técnicas convencionales y no convencionales (DSC y FTIR) para su utilización en protocolos de conservación. Se evaluó 1 accesión de núculas blancas (B) y 2 de núculas mezcla (M y V) (H°: 7,5-8,5% base seca, bs; 33,0-33,8 % lípidos bs; 81,1-82,8% ácidos grasos poliinsaturados). Los % de germinación a las 96 h (25°C, 12h luz, 4 repeticiones de 50 núculas) fueron 100, 90 y 59% y los de viabilidad (prueba de tetrazolio) 100, 96 y 77 % para B, M y V respectivamente. Los valores de conductividad eléctrica (CE) a las 6 y 24h de imbibición variaron entre 323,49-559,97µs.g-1.cm-1 (6h); 523,95-704,82 µs.g-1.cm-1 (24h), mostrando diferencias según % germinación y correlacionándose con las entalpías fusión (347,8-407,4 J.g-1) determinadas por DSC. Estos resultados son promisorios para la aplicación de técnicas no convencionales en el análisis de accesiones en forma rápida y con menor cantidad de muestra.Fil: Rodríguez, María Emilia.     Sialochemical analysis in polytraumatized patients in intensive care units

    The profiles of polytraumatized patients in intensive care units were characterized. Serum and salivary markers were compared with normality between Classes I and II of APACHE II and between periods of hospitalization; these results were correlated. This was a prospective study on saliva charts and collection (n = 70). Profile: male, 27 years old, blunt traumas and collisions. Serum parameters with normality: decrease in pH, creatinine at admission to Class I, and at 48 and 72 hours in both classes; K+ at 48 h in Class II; Ca+ on admission in both classes and at 72 h in Class I. Increase in urea at 72 h in Class II, glucose at all times and in all classes, and Ca+ at 48 h in both classes. Class II had high Na+ at 48 and 72 h compared to Class I. In Class I, creatinine reduction occurred in 48 h and 72 h compared to admission and an increase of Ca+ at 48 h with admission. In Class II, pH and Na+ increased at 48 h and 72 h compared to admission. K+ decreased from admission to 48 h and increased from 48 h to 72 h. Urea increased from 48 to 72 hours. Creatinine decreased from admission to 48 and 72 hours. Ca+ increased from admission to 48 hours and decreased from 48 to 72 hours. There was an increase in the saliva levels in both classes and times in relation to normality. There was an increase in urea at admission, glucose at 72 h, and Ca+ at 48 h in Class II compared with Class I. Class I urea increased from admission to 48 h and Ca+ decreased from admission to 48 h. Class II urea decreased from 48 h to 72 h. Strong or very strong positive correlation was identified between blood and creatinine saliva at all times and regular and negative Ca+ at 72 h. This study provides evidence that salivary and serum biomarkers can be used together to monitor the evolution of the clinical symptoms of ICU patients.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    A Educação em Ciências e Saúde e o enfrentamento à desinfodemia: um relato de experiências críticas no ensino online

     Os desafios e as dificuldades impostas pelo novo coronavírus, demanda a reflexão sobre os seus impactos na prática de ensino, principalmente pelo fato das atividades de ensino/aprendizagem dividirem as mesmas telas destinadas às atividades de entretenimento, formação e trabalho, onde também circula a desinformação. O surto de Covid-19 e a resposta a ele vêm sendo acompanhada pelo excesso de informações, algumas precisas e outras não, conhecida como infodemia. Neste cenário, o objetivo deste trabalho foi relatar a experiência, no campo da Educação em Saúde, nas práticas adotadas em duas atividades de ensino remoto, com o uso de diferentes Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC), considerando elementos das reflexões sobre educação de Paulo Freire. A primeira foi o curso de extensão “Fake News faz mal à saúde? Reflexões sobre o consumo de informações em tempos de pandemia”, oferecido pelo Instituto Nutes/UFRJ. Posteriormente, relata-se a experiência com a disciplina “Planejamento Curricular e de Ensino na Área de Saúde” do Programa de Pós-Graduação Educação em Ciências e Saúde (PPGECS/Nutes), oferecida de forma obrigatória para discentes de Mestrado de Doutorado da Faculdade de Medicina da UFRJ. Na conclusão, são tratadas algumas questões que essas experiências suscitaram, como a importância do desenvolvimento de abordagem crítica que considere a interação entre sujeitos que se situam no mundo e atuam como profissionais da saúde e da educação em busca do envolvimento dos discentes, visando o enfrentamento do desafio que representa a desinformação.
