Analysis of rock mass and anchor support elements deformations during the long-term maintenance of mine workings

    No full text
The results of instrumental and visual assessment of near-rock massif and anchor support elements state in the conditions of long-term maintenance of mine workings has been presented. Particular attention is paid to underground mines in a flooded state. The result of various profiles fixing bolts strength tests of in the roof and sides of the workings has been presented. It has been established that the probability distribution of the anchoring bolts force in the holes in roof of the workings obeys the normal distribution tendency. The result of a radar survey of roof rocks using the Georadar OKO-2 has been analyzed. It was revealed that the height of the stratification of rocks in the mine workings roof varies from 0.2 m to 2.25 m, a comparison is made with the theoretical height of the collapse arch. The propensity of the near rock massif to water saturation has been estimated, the height of the water saturation of the roof rocks has been established. It has been established that the height of moisture depends on the arch of rock stability formed during the survey period. It has been found that water saturation of the rocks leads to a decrease in the specific cohesion of the resin capsules bonding composition with the walls of the hole by 55-67% in roof and by 72% in walls of mine workings

Anthropogenic impact on the local ecosystems: the main factors

    No full text
The represented study aims to assess the technogenic impact on the human-transformed landscape on the example of one of the Russian Federation regions. The hydrocarbon fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions in the local area are proposed to use as the main indicators of anthropogenic impact on the ecosystem. The research accents the neсessity of taking into account the motor vehicles’ negative impacts on the natural environment. The integrated application of suggested criteria allows assessing the actual state of the environment, to trace the correspondences between fuel consumption and the environmental pollution, and to formulate recommendations on the reduction of ecological and economic damage to the ecosystems

Supplementary code for paper "Translating from Na+ to Ca2+: Na/Ca-exchanger exerts Na+-dependent control over astrocytic Ca2+ oscillations"

    No full text
<p>Recently accumulated evidence suggest that astrocyte signaling is linked to extracellular volume regulation and interstitial fluid drainage from the brain. Classical understanding of astrocyte activity is based on IP3-dependent calcium exchange with intracellular stores. Recent evidence shifts focus to calcium entry from extracellular space via multiple mechanisms and widens it to taking other ions into account.</p> <p>It has been hypothesized that Na/Ca-exchanger can translate activity-dependent Na+ transients into modulation of Ca2+ dynamics. We combine a model of IP3 based  Ca2+  dynamics with a model of Ca2+ flow through Na/Ca-exchanger to provide theoretical insights into the possible effects of such modulation. We find that the exchanger can provide for bidirectional Na+-dependent modulation of the sensitivity to extracellular glutamate, oscillation amplitude and frequency modulation, as well as extending the available set of dynamical regimes. The extent of the emergent Na+ sensitivity is predicted to be scaled by a morphology-dependent balance between the maximal flow through the exchanger and the rate of entry from intracellular stores.</p> <p>This is the accompanying code used for the paper. How to run:<br> 1. Install Anaconda https://www.anaconda.com/products/individual<br> 2. Go to the folder with the code<br> 3. In anaconda prompt, create environment with dependencies: `conda env create -f astro-ncx-env.yaml`<br> 4. Unpack pre-computed model behavior characteristics: `tar zxf data.tgz`<br> 5. Activate the created environment: `conda activate astro-ncx`<br> 6. In anaconda prompt, use Jupyter lab server to run the attached notebook: `jupyter lab NCX+Ullah_model.ipynb`</p&gt

Content of heavy metals in Haplic Chernozem under conditions of agrogenesis

    No full text
The paper presents the results of a long-term study on the content and distribution of heavy metals in Haplic Chernozem of agrocenoses in southern zone of Rostov Region. The impact of various agricultural technologies traditional (using moldboard ploughing) and resource-saving (minimum and No-till) on accumulation and mobility of Pb, Zn, Cu in Haplic Chernozem in winter wheat cultivation is considered. The total content of Pb, Zn, Cu in the winter wheat areas corresponds to the background level and does not exceed permissible concentrations. Low mobility of elements (Pb 2.0-3.0%; Zn and Cu up to 1.0% as a percentage of their total forms) is a regional soil feature. In addition, the low availability of Zn and Cu in soils is due to their removal with the crops in the absence of micronutrient fertilizer replenishment. The significant role of soil organic matter in the accumulation of both total and mobile forms of heavy metals in soil has been confirmed. The intensity of the cultivation methods used has a significant effect on the total content of Zn, Cu and on the mobility of Pb, Zn, Cu in Haplic Chernozem

Smartphone Based Fluorescence Imaging for Online Control of Cattle Fodder Preparation

    No full text
A simple and cost-effective technique has been suggested for online monitoring of grist concentration in fodder. The technique is based on fluorescence imaging with grow light lamp excitation and a consumer CMOS camera (DSLR or smartphone) for photo capturing. A prototype instrument has been developed and tested in the laboratory for quantitative express determination of rapeseed grist concentration in fodder. In situ measurement of grist concentration during cattle food preparation has been demonstrated, and the perspectives were discussed. The developed instrument has the potential to ensure more accurate preparation of individual cattle diets compared to currently available methods, which will improve the efficiency of the cattle food production
