    O artigo visa apresentar a experiência de implementação da metodologia “Lean” para o atendimento aos pacientes do Sistema Único de Saúde de Belo Horizonte (SUS-BH”) a fim de  melhorar o tempo-resposta, a qualidade e a eficiência dos atendimentos em urgência e emergência, por meio de pactuação de fluxos internos.  Trata-se de uma propsta que está na carta de projetos estratégicos da Secretaria Municipal de Saúde (SMSA). A melhoria da qualidade da assistência nas UPA’s está diretamente associada à aplicação de ferramentas de gestão de processos, com foco na eliminação dos desperdícios, por meio de um trabalho padronizado, treinamento contínuo e intervenção corretiva imediata frente às não conformidades encontradas.Tratando-se de pacientes em situações de urgência, o tempo é um dos principais recursos que deve ser mensurado cotidianamente, com o objetivo de oferecer ao doente uma intervenção médica ou assistencial, o mais breve possível. Apresentaremos nesse artigo, os resultados e experiências com a implantação do projeto “Menos espera, mais saúde” em algumas UPA’s de Belo Horizonte, com o uso de ferramentas Lean nos processos que tangem o atendimento ao usuário e o que identificamos como possibilidades de melhoria contínua, por meio da gestão à vista e intervenção frente aos indicadores de desempenho operacional. O projeto inovador e transformador “Menos espera, mais saúde” faz interface da gerência de urgência com outros setores da Secretaria municipal de saúde, no objetivo de atender a demanda do usuário, com qualidade, resolutilidade e segurança na espera pelo atendimento, otimizando a permanência desse usuário nas UPA’s de Belo Horizonte

    Phenolic profile by HPLC-MS, biological potential, and nutritional value of a promising food: Monofloral bee pollen

    The objective of this study was to determine physicochemical and phenolic profiles as well the antioxidant and antimicrobial capacities of monofloral bee pollen samples from Brazil. Traditional methods were used. The phenolic profile was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS). The protein (10.6–33.9 g/100g), lipids (3.2–8.3 g/ 100g), ashes (2.6–3.8 g/100g), total phenolic (5.6–29.7 mg GAE/g), and total flavonoid (0.3– 19.0 mg QE/g) values were variable, even between products with the same botanical origin. The minerals analyzed were found in amounts varying between 10 mg/kg and 9.1 g/kg. Each product presented specific color parameters. Myrcia bee pollen presented the greater antioxidant capacity, and Mimosa scabrella bee pollen from Santa Catarina state was the most efficient in inhibiting bacteria and yeasts. Among the compounds identified by HPLC-MS, flavonoid 3-O-glycosides predominated. The physicochemical and phenolic profiles of each sample were distinct, and there was no pattern between monofloral products of the same pollen type.The authors are grateful to beekeepers who provided samples.     Effect of processing conditions on characteristics of dehydrated bee-pollen and correlation between quality parameters

    The aim of the present study was to compare the physical, chemical and biological parameters and the microbiological quality of bee-pollen samples treated with different dehydration processes and to correlate the results. The samples came mainly from Eucalyptus (Myrtaceae) and Eupatorium (Asteraceae) plants. The dehydration conditions of the samples influenced the L*a*b* colour parameters and the biological value. Unlike the protein and lipid content, the glucose and fructose content were unaffected. The vitamin E content (27.2 ± 0.3 μg/g, 27.5 ± 0.4 μg/g) in oven-dehydrated samples with forced air circulation was significantly lower (P < 0.05) compared with lyophilized samples (37.5 ± 0.2 g/100 g, 53.7 ± 3.9 g/100 g). Overall, the results were inconclusive for vitamin B complex, minerals and microbiological indicators. There was a positive correlation between the colour parameters L* and b* and the total phenolic content, as well as between phenolic content and the antioxidant and antimicrobial capacity.     Magnetic Behavior of a Mixed Ising Ferrimagnetic Model in an Oscillating Magnetic Field

    The magnetic behavior of a mixed Ising ferrimagnetic system on a square lattice, in which the two interpenetrating square sublattices have spins +- 1/2 and spins +-1,0, in the presence of an oscillating magnetic field has been studied with Monte Carlo techniques. The model includes nearest and next-nearest neighbor interactions, a crystal field and the oscillating external field. By studying the hysteretic response of this model to an oscillating field we found that it qualitatively reproduces the increasing of the coercive field at the compensation temperature observed in real ferrimagnets, a crucial feature for magneto-optical applications. This behavior is basically independent of the frequency of the field and the size of the system. The magnetic response of the system is related to a dynamical transition from a paramagnetic to a ferromagnetic phase and to the different temperature dependence of the relaxation times of both sublattices.Comment: 10 figures.     Expression of recombinant Araraquara Hantavirus nucleoprotein in insect cells and its use as an antigen for immunodetection compared to the same antigen expressed in Escherichia coli

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Antigens for Hantavirus serological tests have been produced using DNA recombinant technology for more than twenty years. Several different strategies have been used for that purpose. All of them avoid the risks and difficulties involved in multiplying Hantavirus in the laboratory. In Brazil, the Araraquara virus is one of the main causes of Hantavirus Cardio-Pulmonary Syndrome (HCPS).</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>In this investigation, we report the expression of the N protein of the Araraquara Hantavirus in a Baculovirus Expression System, the use of this protein in IgM and IgG ELISA and comparison with the same antigen generated in <it>E. coli</it>.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The protein obtained, and purified in a nickel column, was effectively recognized by antibodies from confirmed HCPS patients. Comparison of the baculovirus generated antigen with the N protein produced in <it>E. coli </it>showed that both were equally effective in terms of sensitivity and specificity.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Our results therefore indicate that either of these proteins can be used in serological tests in Brazil.</p

    Petroleomics by ion mobility mass spectrometry: resolution and characterization of contaminants and additives in crude oils and petrofuels

Whereas direct analysis of a crude oil sample contaminated with demulsifiers by the classical ESI(+/-)-FTICR-MS petroleomic approach was unsatisfactory since it responds only with abundance and m/z, and ionization is impaired due to suppression of polar compounds of crude oil by additives likely used in petroleum industry, IM-MS enables mobility separation of ions, particularly of double bond equivalent (DBE) series for a giving CnX class providing separated spectra which are typical obtained either for the crude oil or the contaminants, even suffering of ion suppression or low ionization efficiency. The combination of improved IM resolution and high mass resolving power (40,000@400) of the QTOF instrument provides useful information on class (N, NO, NS, etc.), carbon number (C-n), and unsaturation (DBE) levels for crude oils, allowing one to infer geochemical properties from DBE trends that can be compared with IM-MS data.     Acute Effects of the New Method Sarcoplasma Stimulating Training Versus Traditional Resistance Training on Total Training Volume, Lactate and Muscle Thickness

    Background: Trained subjects have difficulty in achieving continued results following years of training, and the manipulation of training variables through advanced resistance training (RT) methods is widely recommended to break through plateaus.Objective: The purpose of the present study was to compare the acute effects of traditional RT (TRT) versus two types of sarcoplasma stimulating training (SST) methods on total training volume (TTV), lactate, and muscle thickness (MT).Methods: Twelve trained males (20.75 ± 2.3 years; 1.76 ± 0.14 meters; body mass = 79.41 ± 4.6 kg; RT experience = 4.1 ± 1.8 years) completed three RT protocols in a randomly sequenced order: TRT, SST contraction type (SST-CT), or SST rest interval variable (SST-RIV) with 7 days between trials in arm curl (elbow flexors) and triceps pulley extension (elbow extensors) performed on the same day.Results: The SST groups displayed greater acute biceps and triceps brachii (TB) MT versus the TRT session, with no difference in lactate levels between them. The SST-CT resulted in greater biceps and TB MT versus the SST-RIV session. The TTV was greater for the TRT session versus the SST sessions, except in the case of the elbow flexors (no difference was observed between TRT and SST-CT), and higher for the SST-CT versus the SST-RIV.Conclusion: Trained subjects may benefit from using the SST method as this method may offer a superior MT stimulus and reduced training time, even with a lower TTV
