An Aminopyrrolidinyl Phosphonates—A New Class of Antibiotics: Facile Synthesis and Predicted Biological Activity

    Get PDF
A novel class of aminopyrrolidinyl phosphonates was synthesized in 74% - 80% isolated yield by the addition of three-fold excess of primary amines to diethyl 4-chloro-1-butynylphosphonates. The reaction was carried out at room temperature and in the absence of solvent or catalyst to give solely compounds which showed predicted biological activity based on PASS program. Some of the synthesized derivatives of antibiotics exhibit properties for the treatment of stroke, the treatment of acute neurological disorders, and can also be acetyl esterase inhibitors

Polyaniline coated conducting fabrics : chemical and electrochemical characterization

    Get PDF
Polyaniline coated conducting fabrics have been obtained by chemical oxidation of aniline by potassium peroxydisulfate on polyester fabrics. Two different acids have been employed to carry out the synthesis (HCl and H2SO4), obtaining the best results of conductivity with the latter one. The conducting fabrics have been characterized chemically by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy with attenuated total reflection (FTIR-ATR), energy dispersive X-Ray (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The morphology of the coatings has been observed by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The conducting properties of the fabrics have been measured by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The electrochemical characterization has been carried out by means of cyclic voltammetry (CV) and scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM). The conducting fabrics have also shown electrochromic properties, changing its color from green yellowish at −1 V to dark green at +2 V. The durability of the coating has been evaluated by means of washing and rubbing fastness tests.Authors thank to the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovacion and European Union Funds (FEDER) (contract CTM2010-18842-C02-02) and Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (Primeros Proyectos de Investigacion (PAID-06-10)) for the financial support. Activism and Legitimation in Israel's Jurisprudence of Occupation

Colonial law need not exclude the colonized in order to subordinate them, and ‘activist’ courts can advance the effect of subordination no less than ‘passive’ courts. As a case study, this article examines the jurisprudential legacy of the Israeli Supreme Court in the context of the prolonged Israeli occupation of Palestine. Applying insights from legal realist, law and society, and critical legal studies scholarship, the article questions the utility of using the activist and passive labels. It illustrates how the Israeli activist court, through multiple legal and discursive moves, has advanced and legitimated the colonization of Palestine; that the court is aware of its role; and that arguments that focus on the court’s informal role do not mitigate this legitimating effect. Unlike other scholars, the article shows that the Israeli court’s role—by extending the power of judicial review to the military’s actions in the occupied areas—is neither novel nor unique or benevolent, as the British colonization of India and the US colonization of Puerto Rico show

The Effect of Using Active Learning Strategy (POSSEAR/Tanal Al-Qamar) on Linguistic Intelligence among Tenth Grade Students

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the effect of the use of active learning strategy (POSSEAR/Tanal Al-Qamar) on linguistic intelligence among the basic tenth grade students. To achieve this, the researchers prepared one objective test. Its validity and reliability were verified, to measure the students’ performance in linguistic intelligence. The sample consisted of (60) male and female students from the tenth grade of Mushairefa and Salem secondary schools. They were divided into 2 groups in the first semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. One group was randomly selected as experimental group, this group had (30) students who studied using POSSEAR strategy, and (30) students in the control group who studied the course using traditional method. The results of the study showed a statistically significant difference in linguistic intelligence between the performances of the members of the study group, in favor of the performance of the members of the experimental group. The study recommended the adoption of this strategy in teaching Arabic language in general, and linguistic intelligence in particular.
