    The perceptions of supervising teachers on the prospective-teacher training: A phenomenographic research

    The main purpose of this research is to identify the perceptions of supervising teachers on prospective- teacher training through phenomenographic method. Phenomenography is a method which determines how the people perceive the events and issues around them and how they explain them by conceptualizing. The working group of the research includes Subject and Classroom teachers working in the central provinces of Siirt and Batman chosen by random sampling. As data collection tool, questions that teachers' personal information take place and a semi-structured interview form including three open-ended questions trying to state the perceptions about  prospective- teacher training are prepared and in order to determine the validity of the questionnaire it was submitted to two experts. In accordance with the expert opinions, the interview form has been made ready to apply with necessary corrections. The first question in the interview form is “To me, the prospective- teacher training means…… ” the second one is “The positive sides of prospective- teacher training are……………………. Because……..”, and the third one is “The negative sides of the prospective-teacher training are ……….....Because……”.  A period of 20-25 minutes is given to specify the perceptions of teachers on the prospective- teacher training. Teachers’ answers to these questions / opinions have been adopted as the main source of research data. These concepts and statements have been transferred to the computer and as a result of eliminations made in the computer, the remaining concepts and statements are divided into certain categories.     TRANSITION TO CIVIL RULE PROGRAMMES IN NIGERIA 1966-1999: HOW SINCERE AND COMMITTED WERE THE MILITARY RULERS?

    Within the period of thirty-nine years, 1960-1999, the Nigerian military ruled the country for twenty nine years in a series of coups and counter coup. These coups brought one military government to replace another. These replacements did not convince anyone that the military was sincere to hand over power to the civilians, even when some military governments promised or began the process of transition. Ironsi government promised but was not even allowed to draw up a transition programme before it was overthrown. Another military, Gowon, promised to hand over government but later postponed indefinitely the transition programme. This shows lack of commitment and insincerity. Mohammed learnt a big lesson from Gowon's failure. He overthrew Gowon and started in earnest the process of transition, but again the Nigerian military over threw him and punctuated the transition. Obasanjo derived so many lessons from all of these occurrences and pursued with vigour his transition programme and handed over to a civil rule even though he was not sincere about transition. Again the military over threw the Shagari government. Buhari did not commit himself to hand over power before Babangida over threw him. Babangida tried to transform into civilian president. His attempt failed. But Abacha was not wise enough. After pushing out Shonekan, his attempt to transform into a civilian President was brought to an end by death. Abdulsalami like Obasanjo got the lesson and in a show of determination to prevent another coup, quickly proceeded with transition which brought into power Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as a civilian President under PDP. Thus, circumstances and not sincerity compelled Obasanjo and Abdulsalami to hand over power in 1979 and 1999 respectively.  Article visualizations

    Effect of Layered Curriculum in Problem Solving Skills of Students in Science and Technology Course

    This study mainly aims to determine the effect of layered curriculum on problem solving skills of students  in science and technology course. The study group of the research is the 6th grade students of an elementary school in the center of Malatya. The mixed method, which includes quantitative and qualitative research patterns, was used.  In the quantitative dimension of the study; in order to find the answers for the1st, 2nd and 3th sub problems, the study group consists of 60 students, 30 in the experimental group and 30 in the control group. In the quantitative dimension, “The Problem Solving Skills Test” which is developed by the researcher has been used.  In the study, the qualitative data have been collected during the application by quoting from the students’ diaries and researchers’ diaries and after the application by using semi structured interview forms and examining documents. To analyze the quantitative data t-test was used and to analyze the qualitative data, descriptive analysis and content analysis were used. The study, while significant differentiation has not been observed between point average of control group students in pre-test problem solving skills and post-test point average; there has been a significant differentiation in favor of the post-test between point average of experimental students pre-test and post-test problem solving skills. Experimental group students encountered problems particularly in B and A layers during the period they performed Layered Curriculum activities. Also, there has been a significant differentiation in favor of the experimental group between experimental group students who were subjected to the Layered Curriculum activities and control group students who continued the existing curriculum. It was concluded that, experimental group students took responsibility in Layered Curriculum activities both individually and within a group, and used their problem solving skills when they face a problem. &nbsp

    Araştırmanın temel amacı, İngilizce dersinde basamaklı öğretim programının 8.sınıf öğrencilerinin biliş ötesi farkındalığına etkisini belirlemektir. Araştırmada nicel ve nitel araştırma desenlerinin birlikte ele alındığı karma yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel boyutunda, basamaklı öğretim yönteminin uygulamasının, öğrencilerin biliş ötesi farkındalığına etkisini belirlemek amacıyla, yarı deneysel desenlerden, öntest-sontest eşleştirilmiş kontrol gruplu desen%253B araştırmanın nitel boyutunda ise, veri çeşitliliğini sağlamak ve nicel bulguları daha anlaşılır kılmak amacıyla, nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Siirt merkezde bulunan Mehmet Akif Ersoy Ortaokulu 8. sınıf öğrencilerinden 30u deney, 30u kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplam 60 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak, Yurdakul (2004) tarafından geliştirilen Biliş ötesi Farkındalık Ölçeği ve araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Sonuçta, basamaklı öğretim programı etkinliklerinin öğrenci merkezli, daha önceki İngilizce dersi etkinliklerinin ise öğretmen merkezli olduğu, öğrencilerin eğlenceli ve yapabilecekleri etkinlikleri seçtiği, etkinlikleri yaparken bilgileri nasıl düzenleyeceklerini ve materyalle ilgili bilgileri nerede bulacaklarını bilmediği görülmüştür.     Ocorrências de Diarréia de bezerro e os Fatores de Risco Associados na Costa do Marfim (2015-2017)

    Diarrhea is the most important disease of neonatal calves, and it results in the greatest economic losses. A longitudinal observational study was conducted from September 2015 to October 2017. This study proposes to investigate the incidence of diarrhea in calves and their mortality rate so as to identify potential risk factors related to the occurrence of calf diarrhea on 372 farms in the regions of Abidjan, Bouake, Bondoukou, and Korhogo in Ivory Coast. Information on potential risk factors was collected based on personal observations from regular visits to the farms and from a survey conducted during the period of the study. A total of 2020 calves under the age of three months were selected. Only 347 (17.17%) of the 2020 calves showed signs of diarrhea. The overall mortality rate was 0.39%. Based on the survey, colostrum feeding, the calf’s age and sex, calf housing, seasonal variation, the calving period, environment conditions, the ignorance of herdsmen, and management systems were found to be the major risk factors for gastroenteritis in calves. Calves reared in an extensive system were less susceptible to neonatal diarrhea. The calf health and management issues found in this study can be resolved by creating awareness among farm owners and implementing better calf management practices and cattle vaccination programs.O presente estudo tenta investigar a incidência de diarréia na taxa de mortalidade de bezerros, determinando potenciais fatores de risco associados à ocorrência de diarréia em 372 fazendas das regiões de Abidjan, Bouake, Bondoukou e Korhogo na Costa do Marfim. As informações sobre os possíveis fatores de risco foram coletadas por observação pessoal durante a visita regular às fazendas e a partir de questionário realizado durante o período do estudo. Foram selecionados um total de 2020 bezerros com até três meses de idade. Dos 2020 bezerros pesquisados, apenas 347 (17,17%) apresentaram sinais de diarréia. A taxa de mortalidade geral foi de 0,39%. Com base na pesquisa do questionário, a alimentação com colostro, idade e sexo do bezerro, alojamento do bezerro, estações, período de parto, ambiente, ignorância dos pequenos proprietários e sistema de gestão também foram os principais fatores de risco considerados significativos para promover a gastroenterite do bezerro. Os bezerros criados em um sistema extenso eram menos suscetíveis à diarréia neonatal. Os problemas de saúde e manejo de bezerros encontrados neste estudo podem ser resolvidos com a conscientização dos proprietários das fazendas e a implementação de práticas aprimoradas de manejo de bezerros e vacinação de vacas
