The design and implementation of a SCADA system were conducted, for the automatic control of the guillotine gates and monitoring of the weighing system of balanced animal feed in the poultry farm La Morenita. In this work was investigated about the communication to be applied; topology and configuration for sending and receiving data between the PLC with the weight indicator with the communication module CM 1241 RS-232, on SCADA systems; by using a KTP700 DP HMI and the LabVIEW software. Once the subnet has been created with the devices, it is proceed to program each on of the devices that make up the weighing and control process of the guillotine doors with push buttons, LEDs, sensors, cylinders and the LEXUS weight indicator with the TIA PORTAL V13 software. After the configuration and programming in the PLC, the processes were designed with its respective controls and indicators to visualize in the HMI, granting a simple interface to the user. Furthermore, the link to LabVIEW was carried out through a server, making the design of the system in this software. At the end of the implementation of the SCADA, the operation tests of both the data transfer and the control of the process gates were performed, obtaining a correct control and acquisition of system data in real time, both in the HMI screen and in the LabVIEW. For the proper handling and optimal performance of the processes and devices, an operation and maintenance manual with safety rules is established, in order to maintain a good operation of the equipment and to avoid mishandling. Operators must have knowledge in the management of HMI and LabVIEW, or to receive training by the owner or person in charge of the production process, for the correct management of start-up and stoppage of the plant equipment

Design of a 7m Davies-Cotton Cherenkov telescope mount for the high energy section of the Cherenkov Telescope Array

The Cherenkov Telescope Array is the next generation ground-based observatory for the study of very-high-energy gamma-rays. It will provide an order of magnitude more sensitivity and greater angular resolution than present systems as well as an increased energy range (20 GeV to 300 TeV). For the high energy portion of this range, a relatively large area has to be covered by the array. For this, the construction of ~7 m diameter Cherenkov telescopes is an option under study. We have proposed an innovative design of a Davies-Cotton mount for such a telescope, within Cherenkov Telescope Array specifications, and evaluated its mechanical and optical performance. The mount is a reticulated-type structure with steel tubes and tensioned wires, designed in three main parts to be assembled on site. In this work we show the structural characteristics of the mount and the optical aberrations at the focal plane for three options of mirror facet size caused by mount deformations due to wind and gravity.Facultad de Ingenierí

A surrogate-assisted measurement correction method for accurate and low-cost monitoring of particulate matter pollutants

    Get PDF
Air pollution involves multiple health and economic challenges. Its accurate and low-cost monitoring is important for developing services dedicated to reduce the exposure of living beings to the pollution. Particulate matter (PM) measurement sensors belong to the key components that support operation of these systems. In this work, a modular, mobile Internet of Things sensor for PM measurements has been proposed. Due to a limited accuracy of the PM detector, the measurement data are refined using a two-stage procedure that involves elimination of the non-physical signal spikes followed by a non-linear correction of the responses using a multiplicative surrogate model. The correction layer is derived from the sparse and non-uniform calibration data, i.e., a combination of the measurements from the PM monitoring station and the sensor obtained in the same location over a specified (relatively short) interval. The device and the method have been both demonstrated based on the data obtained during three measurement campaigns. The proposed correction scheme improves the fidelity of PM measurements by around two orders of magnitude w.r.t. the responses for which the post-processing has not been considered. Performance of the proposed surrogate-assisted technique has been favorably compared against the benchmark approaches from the literature

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the potential antioxidant and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibition (ACEI) activity of edible insect flours fermented with Lactococcus lactis strains. For the fermentation, mealworm and grasshoppers flours were dissolved (0.5% w/v) in buffer solution (pH 7.0) and individually inoculated (3%) with Lactococcus lactis strains (NRRL B-50571, NRRL B-50572). The samples were incubated for 72 h at 30 ◦C, and the pH was recorded. The degree of hydrolysis (DH) and protein content were determined. The total polyphenol compounds, antioxidant activity (ABTS, DPPH, ORAC, and FRAP), and ACEI of the \u3c3 kDa fractions were ana- lyzed. The pH of the fermented samples decreased to 3.5–3.9 (p \u3c 0.05). The fermented grasshopper flour showed an increased DH (0.42%) and overall higher total polyphenol content (8.23 mg Gallic Acid Equivalent/mL). In general, the highest antioxidant activity was for the grasshopper fractions fermented for 24 h by Lactococcus lactis NRRL B-50572, which also showed 23.47% ACEI inhibition with an IC50 of 0.97 mg/mL. The peptide profile obtained increased after fermentation, being higher for the mealworm flour fermented sample. This study presents, for the first time, the use of specific strains of Lactococus lactis for fermenting edible insect-derived products in the production of bioactive compounds with potential antioxidant and antihypertensive activity

An integrative approach unveils FOSL1 as an oncogene vulnerability in KRAS-driven lung and pancreatic cancer

KRAS mutated tumours represent a large fraction of human cancers, but the vast majority remains refractory to current clinical therapies. Thus, a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms triggered by KRAS oncogene may yield alternative therapeutic strategies. Here we report the identification of a common transcriptional signature across mutant KRAS cancers of distinct tissue origin that includes the transcription factor FOSL1. High FOSL1 expression identifies mutant KRAS lung and pancreatic cancer patients with the worst survival outcome. Furthermore, FOSL1 genetic inhibition is detrimental to both KRAS-driven tumour types. Mechanistically, FOSL1 links the KRAS oncogene to components of the mitotic machinery, a pathway previously postulated to function orthogonally to oncogenic KRAS. FOSL1 targets include AURKA, whose inhibition impairs viability of mutant KRAS cells. Lastly, combination of AURKA and MEK inhibitors induces a deleterious effect on mutant KRAS cells. Our findings unveil KRAS downstream effectors that provide opportunities to treat KRAS-driven cancers

In vitro gas production (GP) technique was used to investigate effect of exogenous enzymes cellulase (CEL) or xylanase (XYL) at different doses on in vitro fermentation characteristics of corn stover. Enzymes were supplemented at 0 (control), 10, 20, 40 and 80 μg/g DM. Gas production was determined at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24, 36, 48 and 72 h of incubation. After 72 h, the incubation was stopped and supernatant pH was determined, and filtered to determine dry matter (DMD), neutral detergent fiber (NDFD) and acid detergent fiber (ADFD) degradabilities. Interaction effects occurred for enzyme type and dose for all measured gas parameters with exception of the lag time, DMD, organic matter degradability (OMD), NDFD, metabolizable energy (ME), short chain fatty acids (SCFA) and microbial crude protein (MCP) production. Cellulase and XYL increased GP (P<0.05) at different incubation hours with better results at the dose of 40 μg/g DM. The dose 80 μg XYL/g DM had the lowest GP compared to other doses. In addition, CEL and XYL decreased pH with increasing OMD, ME, SCFA and MCP production at 40 μg/ g DM of corn stover. The present results suggested that the level of CEL and XYL at 40 μg/g DM have higher GP than other levels of enzymes, imply this level can be more effectively to improve rumen fermentation; however, the difference of XYL between treatments and control was less than that of CEL

Currently, in the academic field, the different currents in psychology are often opposed without deepening their points of agreement. As a result of this, the present investigation makes a comparison of the unconscious concept according to: Sigmund Freud father of Psychoanalysis; Milton Erickson influencing the Systemic model; And Manuel Froufe compiler and impeller of the unconscious within the Cognitive model. The methodology was documentary, for which we used texts extracted from specific search engines such as: Google Academic, Redalyc, Scielo, Proquest, and books of authors relevant to the topic. It was concluded that there is a difference in the area in which the term was developed, being clinical in Erickson and Freud and academic-experimental in Froufe. It is also important to note that the popularity of the unconscious is remarkable in Freud, in Erickson's case it is comparatively minor, but not so with the cognitive unconscious, because its formulation is of recent appearance and does not yet have clinical developments.
