    This paper presents PARADISE (PARAdigm for DIalogue System Evaluation), a general framework for evaluating spoken dialogue agents.     The Basque - Cantabrian Pyrenees: report of data analysis

    This contribution presents the analysis of a data set that was put together in the PhD thesis of Jordi Miró which is part of the OROGEN Project. The Basque - Cantabrian Pyrenees, that are the focus of this report, have been extensively studied over the last years. Several open debates in the Earth Science community aroused from this realm regarding the formation and reactivation of rift domains and formation of fold and thrust belts. This report summarizes the main tectonic models proposed to explain both the extension and reactivation history over this area and compile a series of data to consider for further discussions and interpretations. This report includes a thematic map of the Basque - Cantabrian Pyrenees showing an analysis of the tectono-stratigraphic evolution of the area. The map covers an area of more than 33 000 km2 and is a graphic representation of the geology of the region based on a large geodatabase including previous published maps and field observations. A composite reflection seismic line crossing the entire Basque - Cantabrian Pyrenees from the Ebro foreland basin to the offshore Landes High is also presented. This section enables to present a continuous dataset along the entire area with the projection of few drill holes, which are presented with the stratigraphic logs following the same tectono-stratigraphic legend obtained from the previous analysis. The main goal of this data report is to provide a coherent and complete dataset to the community, which enables to propose, discuss and test some of the new concepts related to the formation and reactivation of rifted margins. This data report is complementary to the contributions of Lescoutre and Manatschal (2020) and Cadenas et al. (in prep) that are part of the same special volume. Cette contribution présente l'analyse d'une compilation de données acquises par Jordi Miró lors de sa thèse de doctorat qui s'inscrit dans le projet OROGEN. Les Pyrénées Basco-Cantabriques, qui sont l'objet de ce rapport, ont été largement étudiées au cours de ces dernières années. Cette chaîne orogénique a alimenté de nombreuses discussions concernant la formation et la réactivation des domaines de rift ainsi que la formation des chaînes d'avant-pays (« fold-and-thrust belt »). Ce rapport résume les principaux modèles proposés dans la zone d'étude pour expliquer l'évolution tectonique de l'extension à la réactivation, et compile une série de données à prendre en considération pour les discussions et interprétations futures. Il comprend notamment une carte thématique des Pyrénées Basco-Cantabriques montrant les différentes unités tectono-stratigraphiques de la zone. La carte, qui couvre une superficie de plus de 33 000 km2, est une représentation graphique de la géologie régionale s'appuyant sur une large quantité de données comprenant des cartes publiées précédemment ainsi que de nouvelles observations de terrain. Un profile de réflexion sismique composite traversant la totalité des Pyrénées Basco-Cantabriques (du bassin d'avant-pays de l'Ebre au Haut des Landes) est également présentée. Cette section permet de présenter un ensemble de données continu sur toute la zone via notamment la projection des informations extraites des puits de forage tels que les logs stratigraphiques. L'objectif principal de ce rapport est de fournir à la communauté scientifique un ensemble de données cohérent et complet permettant de proposer, discuter et tester certains des nouveaux concepts liés à la formation et à la réactivation des marges hyper-étirées.     The exceptionally high diversity of small carnivorans from the Late Miocene hominid locality of Hammerschmiede (Bavaria, Germany)

    The present study deals with new material of carnivorans (Mustelidae, Mephitidae, Ailuridae, Potamotheriinae and Viverridae) from the basal Tortonian (Late Miocene, late Astaracian) hominid-bearing locality of Hammerschmiede (Bavaria, Germany). The small carnivoran fauna includes 20 species belonging to nine different subfamilies (Guloninae, Lutrinae, Mellivorinae, Potamotheriinae, Leptarctinae, Mephitinae, Simocyoninae, Genettinae and Viverrinae). The identified forms include: “Martes” sansaniensis, “Martes” cf. munki, “Martes” sp., Circamustela hartmanni n. sp., Laphyctis mustelinus, Guloninae indet., Eomellivora moralesi, Vishnuonyx neptuni, Paralutra jaegeri, Lartetictis cf. dubia, Trocharion albanense, Palaeomeles pachecoi, Proputorius sansaniensis, Proputorius pusillus, Alopecocyon goeriachensis, Simocyoninae indet., Potamotherium sp., Semigenetta sansaniensis, Semigenetta grandis and Viverrictis modica. The new species Circamustela hartmanni n. sp. is differentiated from the other members of the genus by its small size and the morphology of its dental cusps in the upper and lower carnassials. This is one of the highest reported taxonomic diversities for fossil small carnivorans in the Miocene of Europe, including also first and last occurrences for several genera and species. Additionally, the assemblage comprises some rare taxa such as Palaeomeles pachecoi and Eomellivora moralesi. An ecomorphological comparison of the discovered taxa reveals possible cases of competition and niche partitioning. © 2022 Kargopoulos et al.     La válvula ATS 3f Enable® (Medtronic) es una prótesis biológica de pericardio, diseñada como una válvula tubular para optimizar sus características hemodinámicas y disminuir el estrés.ObjetivosDescripción de las posibles indicaciones de la válvula aórtica 3f Enable® sin sutura seg?estra experiencia.Material y métodosDesde mayo de 2010 se han implantado 10 válvulas 3f Enable®, eligiendo pacientes con anillo aórtico pequeño (< 21mm) e índice de masa corporal (IMC) igual o superior a 30 o con estenosis protésica de 19mm. El tamaño de los implantes fue: 19mm: 5, 21mm: 4, y 23mm: 1. Perfil clínico de los pacientes: edad media: 72 años. Estenosis aórtica protésica: 2 pacientes. EuroSCORE medio: 6,3. El IMC medio de los pacientes con estenosis nativa: 32. En tres pacientes se realizaron injertos concomitantes.ResultadosTodos los implantes se realizaron con éxito. En dos pacientes fue necesaria la recolocación de la prótesis por insuficiencia antes de descontinuar la circulación extracorpórea. El tiempo medio de isquemia fue de 61 min, con un rango de 22–81 min. Los gradientes pico obtenidos fueron 21±6mmHg y los gradientes medios de 11±3mmHg. Un paciente requirió reintervención por insuficiencia grave debido a inframedición de la prótesis.ConclusionesLa prótesis 3f Enable® presenta un excelente comportamiento hemodinámico en pacientes con anillo aórtico pequeño y con un IMC igual o superior a 30 y consiguiente riesgo de mismatch. La estenosis protésica de 19mm también se podría considerar como indicación de implante de esta válvula

    The role of the Bay of Biscai Mesozoic extensional estructure in the configuration of the Pyrenean orogen: Constraints from the MARCONI deep seismic reflection survey

    Seismic interpretation of the MARCONI deepseismic survey enables recognition of the upper crustalstructure of the eastern part of the Bay of Biscay andthe main features of its Alpine geodynamic evolution.The new data denotes that two domains with differentPyrenean and north foreland structures exist in the Bayof Biscay. In the eastern or Basque‐Parentis Domain,the North Pyrenean front is located close to the Spanishcoast, and the northern foreland of the Pyrenees is con-stituted by a continental crust thinned by a north dip-ping fault that induced the formation of the EarlyCretaceous Parentis Basin. In the western or Cantab-rian Domain, the North Pyrenean front is shifted tothe north and deforms a narrower and deeper forelandbasin which lies on the top of a transitional crustformed from the exhumation of lithospheric mantlealong a south dipping extensional low‐angle faultduring the Early Cretaceous. The transition betweenthese two domains corresponds to a soft transfer zonelinking the shifted North Pyrenean fronts and a north‐to WNW‐directed thrust that places the continentalcrust of the Landes Plateau over the transitional crustof the Bay of Biscay abyssal plain. Comparisonbetween this structure and regional data enables char-acterization of the extensional rift system developedbetween Iberia and Eurasia during the Late Jurassicand Cretaceous and recognizes that this rift systemcontrolled not only the location and features of thePyrenean thrust sheets but also the overall structureof this oroge

    The MARCONI-3 deep seismic reflection profile: structure of the north Pyrenean foreland at the eastern part of the Bay of Biscay

    The MARCONI-3 profile denotes that the structure of the North Pyrenean foreland at the western part of the Parentis Basin consists of a wedge of uppermost Cretaceous to Cenozoic synorogenic sediments lying on the top of a thinned continental crust with a major Mesozoic Basin to the north, the Parentis Basin, and a coeval structural high to the south, the Landes High. The Parentis Basin appears bounded southwards by a major normal fault. It is filled by a thick carbonate succession affected by a salt ridge and diapirs formed during the Albian-Late Cretaceous and squeezed during the late Eocene-middle Miocene. The Landes High includes a thin pre-Upper Cretaceous cover which, together with the synorogenic sediments, is deformed by a thrust wedge that constitutes the north-Pyrenean front. This overall structure evidences that the Mesozoic extension played an important role both in the location and features of the north-Pyrenean contractional deformation. Specially, the Alpine structure in the Parentis Basin denotes that the Landes High acted as a buffer for the north propagation of the Pyrenean deformation until early Miocene and vanished afterwards during the last stages of Pyrenean development when some basement faults reactivated in the Parentis Basin

    Association Between Early Hyperoxia Exposure After Resuscitation From Cardiac Arrest and Neurological Disability: Prospective Multicenter Protocol-Directed Cohort Study

    BACKGROUND: Studies examining the association between hyperoxia exposure after resuscitation from cardiac arrest and clinical outcomes have reported conflicting results. Our objective was to test the hypothesis that early postresuscitation hyperoxia is associated with poor neurological outcome. METHODS: This was a multicenter prospective cohort study. We included adult patients with cardiac arrest who were mechanically ventilated and received targeted temperature management after return of spontaneous circulation. We excluded patients with cardiac arrest caused by trauma or sepsis. Per protocol, partial pressure of arterial oxygen (Pao2) was measured at 1 and 6 hours after return of spontaneous circulation. Hyperoxia was defined as a Pao2 >300 mm Hg during the initial 6 hours after return of spontaneous circulation. The primary outcome was poor neurological function at hospital discharge, defined as a modified Rankin Scale score >3. Multivariable generalized linear regression with a log link was used to test the association between Pao2 and poor neurological outcome. To assess whether there was an association between other supranormal Pao2 levels and poor neurological outcome, we used other Pao2 cut points to define hyperoxia (ie, 100, 150, 200, 250, 350, 400 mm Hg). RESULTS: Of the 280 patients included, 105 (38%) had exposure to hyperoxia. Poor neurological function at hospital discharge occurred in 70% of patients in the entire cohort and in 77% versus 65% among patients with versus without exposure to hyperoxia respectively (absolute risk difference, 12%; 95% confidence interval, 1-23). Hyperoxia was independently associated with poor neurological function (relative risk, 1.23; 95% confidence interval, 1.11-1.35). On multivariable analysis, a 1-hour-longer duration of hyperoxia exposure was associated with a 3% increase in risk of poor neurological outcome (relative risk, 1.03; 95% confidence interval, 1.02-1.05). We found that the association with poor neurological outcome began at ≥300 mm Hg. CONCLUSIONS: Early hyperoxia exposure after resuscitation from cardiac arrest was independently associated with poor neurological function at hospital discharge

    CleanET: enabling timing validation for complex automotive systems

    Timing validation for automotive systems occurs in late integration stages when it is hard to control how the instances of software tasks overlap in time. To make things worse, in complex software systems, like those for autonomous driving, tasks schedule has a strong event-driven nature, which further complicates relating those task-overlapping scenarios (TOS) captured during the software timing budgeting and those observed during validation phases. This paper proposes CleanET, an approach to derive the dilation factor r caused due to the simultaneous execution of multiple tasks. To that end, CleanET builds on the captured TOS during testing and predicts how tasks execution time react under untested TOS (e.g. full overlap), hence acting as a mean of robust testing. CleanET also provides additional evidence for certification about the derived timing budgets for every task. We apply CleanET to a commercial autonomous driving framework, Apollo, where task measurements can only be reasonably collected under 'arbitrary' TOS.     Species diversity, taxonomy and distribution of Chondrichthyes in the Mediterranean and Black Sea

    Species diversity assessments are an important step to evaluate the conservation status of a community, both in marine and terrestrial ecosystems. These assessments are pivotal if related to both, the constant increase of human pressure on ecosystems and the anthropogenic climate change occurring nowadays. Sharks and rays are globally threatened, and the situation is particularly alarming in the Mediterranean Sea where more than 50% of species are listed at risk of extinction by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). In this paper, we revise and discuss the chondrichthyan species richness of the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Through an accurate review of published taxonomic studies, historical data on species occurrence, analyses of scientific survey data and biodiversity databases and other scientific papers, we produced a revised list of species whose presence in the Mediterranean Sea is confirmed or highly probable and discussed on current taxonomic and occurrence disputes on the species that are instead rarer or claimed to be locally extinct. We listed a total of 88 species, representing 30 families and 48 genera that are currently present in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. This number includes 48 shark species, 38 batoids, and 2 chimaeras. The review represents a reference for future conservation assessments of cartilaginous fish in the region and a guide for decision-makers when promoting the sustainable exploitation of fisheries resource within an ecosystem-based framework. This paper can help to set a baseline of the Mediterranean species and thus resolve some uncertainties regarding their conservation status, explaining the reasons for their prolonged absence in the reports. Indeed, failure to record over time may not be due to grubbing up, but because after careful review this species was not really part of the Mediterranean fauna
