Development of symbolic algorithms for certain algebraic processes

    Get PDF
This study investigates the problem of computing the exact greatest common divisor of two polynomials relative to an orthogonal basis, defined over the rational number field. The main objective of the study is to design and implement an effective and efficient symbolic algorithm for the general class of dense polynomials, given the rational number defining terms of their basis. From a general algorithm using the comrade matrix approach, the nonmodular and modular techniques are prescribed. If the coefficients of the generalized polynomials are multiprecision integers, multiprecision arithmetic will be required in the construction of the comrade matrix and the corresponding systems coefficient matrix. In addition, the application of the nonmodular elimination technique on this coefficient matrix extensively applies multiprecision rational number operations. The modular technique is employed to minimize the complexity involved in such computations. A divisor test algorithm that enables the detection of an unlucky reduction is a crucial device for an effective implementation of the modular technique. With the bound of the true solution not known a priori, the test is devised and carefully incorporated into the modular algorithm. The results illustrate that the modular algorithm illustrate its best performance for the class of relatively prime polynomials. The empirical computing time results show that the modular algorithm is markedly superior to the nonmodular algorithms in the case of sufficiently dense Legendre basis polynomials with a small GCD solution. In the case of dense Legendre basis polynomials with a big GCD solution, the modular algorithm is significantly superior to the nonmodular algorithms in higher degree polynomials. For more definitive conclusions, the computing time functions of the algorithms that are presented in this report have been worked out. Further investigations have also been suggested

Consonants recognition and noise reduction for Arabic phonemes based Malay speakers / Ali Abd Almisreb

    Get PDF
Arabic phonemes can be categorised into 28 consonants. The variations in each phoneme and vowel cause difficulties for the non-native Arabic speakers, particularly the Malay speakers, to pronounce these letters correctly. Hence, in this thesis, noise reduction and consonants recognition are conducted among the Malay speakers. The Malay race has been chosen due to the high usage of the Arabic language for reciting Al-Quran. Generally, the study is divided into two parts, namely, the study of noise reduction and consonant recognition. First, two noise removal methods were developed. The first method is based on combining Negative function with Gamma correction function. The second noise reduction method is addressed by utilising 2D Gabor filter. Furthermore, the consonant study was conducted based on Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system concept. The ASR composes of feature extraction stage followed by speech recognition. On the other hand, the feature extraction was implemented by investigating three different methods, namely, Mel-Frequency Cepstrum Coefficients (MFCC), Linear Prediction Coefficients (LPC) and Perceptual Linear Prediction (PLP). Finally, the speech recognition process was conducted by utilising three methods: Dynamic Time Warping (DTW), Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Deep Neural Network (DNN). Experimental analysis and results showed that the proposed noise reduction methods have advantages over the traditional methods in terms of the consonant waveforms enhancement quality and the computational time as well. The MFCC has shown better performance compare to LPC and PLP as a feature extraction technique. Additionally, the comparison between DTW and ANN has proven that the ANN more suitable for Arabic consonant recognition. On the other hand, the joining of ANN and DTW has worked optimally as well. Lastly, the DNN are the most suitable methods for recognition process of Arabic consonants based on Malay speakers' usage

This study investigates the impact of HRM practices on organizational performance which include practices such as "human resource planning, staffing processes, training and development, reward and compensation systems, employee and labor relations", and are treated as independent variables. The study is concentrating on study on Sudan National Oil Company (SNOC). Total responses are 100 from 153 population of Sudan National Oil Company (SNOC) are collected and analyzed objectively; it was examined if HRM practices have significant association on organizational performance. The aim is to get real picture on the influence of HRM practices on organizational performance. The finding indicates that, there is positive relationship between HRM practices and organizational performance. This study is important for several reasons. Firstly, recognizing a positive relationship between, HRM and organizational performance; secondly, to clarify the problem and barriers encountered in the application of human resource programs in the Sudanese companies in the context to the case included in this study thirdly, to participate in and contribute to research, resulting in Knowledge increase, and lastly, to assist scholars and other researchers in the HRM field

This is a preliminary study on stock overreaction behavior of syariah compliant stock in Bursa Malaysia over the period between January 1988 and December 2009. Results show that syariah compliant stock in Bursa Malaysia, like their conventional counterparts overreact. The overreactions are more pronounced during the sub-period prior to 1997 Asian Financial Crisis and Global 2008 Crisis. After the crisis the overreaction behavior seems to diminish

A Contrastive Analysis of Haplology Patterns in Modern Standard English and Modern Standard Arabic

    Get PDF
Phonologically speaking, each word in a language consists of one or more syllables. In both modern standard English (henceforth MSE) and modern standard Arabic (henceforth MSA), a syllable may be followed by an identical one. In this case, one of such syllables is eliminated. This phonological process is referred to as haplology. The present study aims at finding out similarities and differences of haplology patterns between MSE and MSA. Accordingly, a comparison of haplology patterns between such two languages has been conducted. This phonological phenomenon results in the fact that differences are more than similarities of such patterns between both languages. Additionally, it appears that all eliminated syllables in MSE consist of onset and centre without coda and that they occur only in a medial position. As far as MSA is concerned, all elided syllables consist of onset and centre except the syllables [?it] and [zil] which consist of onset, centre and coda, and the syllables [un],[an] and [in] which consist of a centre and coda without onset. Some of such syllables can occur initially, others medially and that most of them occur finally. Such results lead to the conclusions that haplology patterns are mentioned to make pronunciation easy and that elision of some syllables in certain contexts investigates musical rhythm

New Fluorescence Quenching Approach for Determination of Valsartan in Certain Tablets and Spiked Biological Fluids

    Get PDF
A new, simple, selective, sensitive, fast, economical, and reliable fluorescence quenching method for the quantitation of valsartan was investigated using basic fuchsin act as a fluorometric dye. The method was depended on the detection quenching influence of valsartan on the fluorescence intensity of basic fuchsin and the reaction between valsartan and basic fuchsin in a McIlvaine buffer medium at pH = 6 to yield a new basic fuchsin–valsartan non-fluorescent complex. The excitation and emission of basic fuchsin fluorescence signal were identified at 535 and 728 nm, respectively. A fluorescence quenching value (ΔF) displayed a very good linear relationship (R2 = 0.9992) with valsartan concentration ranging from 0.003 to 3 μg/mL, a detection limit as low as 0.0009 μg/mL with a high precision and accuracy (RSD% <3). Significantly, no interference effect was found due to the presence of other ingredients commonly found in medical formulations. The acquired data were statistically compared with those acquired from reported chromatographic method and were observed to be in excellent agreement at a 95% confidence level; the planned fluorescence quenching procedure was subsequently utilized to detected the concentration of valsartan in spiked biological fluids and commercial medical tablets
