A note on N=4 supersymmetric mechanics on K\"ahler manifolds
The geometric models of N=4 supersymmetric mechanics with
(2d.2d)_{\DC}-dimensional phase space are proposed, which can be viewed as
one-dimensional counterparts of two-dimensional N=2 supersymmetric sigma-models
by Alvarez-Gaum\'e and Freedman. The related construction of supersymmetric
mechanics whose phase space is a K\"ahler supermanifold is considered. Also,
its relation with antisymplectic geometry is discussed.Comment: 4 pages, revte
Hamiltonian BRST-anti-BRST Theory
The hamiltonian BRST-anti-BRST theory is developed in the general case of
arbitrary reducible first class systems. This is done by extending the methods
of homological perturbation theory, originally based on the use of a single
resolution, to the case of a biresolution. The BRST and the anti-BRST
generators are shown to exist. The respective links with the ordinary BRST

Superfield T-duality rules
A geometric treatment of T-duality as an operation which acts on differential
forms in superspace allows us to derive the complete set of T-duality
transformation rules which relate the superfield potentials of D=10 type IIA
supergravity with those of type IIB supergravity including Ramond-Ramond
superfield potentials and fermionic supervielbeins. We show that these rules

Field dependent nilpotent symmetry for gauge theories
We construct the field dependent mixed BRST (combination of BRST and
anti-BRST) transformations for pure gauge theories. These are shown to be an
exact nilpotent symmetry of both the effective action as well as the generating
functional for certain choices of the field dependent parameters. We show that
the Jacobian contributions for path integral measure in the definition of
generating functional arising from BRST and anti-BRST part compensate each
other. The field dependent mixed BRST transformations are also considered in
field/antifield formulation to show that the solutions of quantum master
equation remain invariant under these. Our results are supported by several

Detection potential to point-like neutrino sources with the NEMO-km3 telescope
The NEMO Collaboration is conducting an R&D activity towards the construction
of a Mediterranean km3 neutrino telescope. In this work, we present the results
of Monte Carlo simulation studies on the capability of the proposed NEMO
telescope to detect and identify point-like sources of high energy muon

Inclusive pion double charge exchange on Oxygen(16) at 0.6-1.1 GeV
The inclusive pion double charge exchange (DCX) on oxygen nuclei has been
measured in the region where additional pion production is kinematically
forbidden. The experiment was performed at ITEP PS at incident pi- kinetic
energies T_0= 0.59, 0.75 and 1.1 GeV. The integrated forward differential cross
section was found to decrease with energy slowly. At 1.1 GeV it exceeds the
theoretical prediction within the conventional sequential single charge
exchange mechanism with a neutral pion in the intermediate state (Glauber
elastic rescattering) by about half an order of magnitude. The sequential
mechanism with two pions in the intermediate state (Glauber inelastic
rescatterings), which was proposed recently, seems to be able to explain the
observed slow energy dependence and allows to predict the DCX cross section for

Cryptanalysis of an image encryption scheme based on the Hill cipher
This paper studies the security of an image encryption scheme based on the
Hill cipher and reports its following problems: 1) there is a simple necessary
and sufficient condition that makes a number of secret keys invalid; 2) it is
insensitive to the change of the secret key; 3) it is insensitive to the change
of the plain-image; 4) it can be broken with only one known/chosen-plaintext;

A Massive Renormalizable Abelian Gauge Theory in 2+1 Dimensions
The standard formulation of a massive Abelian vector field in
dimensions involves a Maxwell kinetic term plus a Chern-Simons mass term; in
its place we consider a Chern-Simons kinetic term plus a Stuekelberg mass term.
In this latter model, we still have a massive vector field, but now the
interaction with a charged spinor field is renormalizable (as opposed to super
renormalizable). By choosing an appropriate gauge fixing term, the Stuekelberg
auxiliary scalar field decouples from the vector field. The one-loop spinor
self energy is computed using operator regularization, a technique which
respects the three dimensional character of the antisymmetric tensor
. This method is used to evaluate the vector self
energy to two-loop order; it is found to vanish showing that the beta function
is zero to two-loop order. The canonical structure of the model is examined

Evidence for a mixed mass composition at the `ankle' in the cosmic-ray spectrum
We report a first measurement for ultra-high energy cosmic rays of the
correlation between the depth of shower maximum and the signal in the water
Cherenkov stations of air-showers registered simultaneously by the fluorescence
and the surface detectors of the Pierre Auger Observatory. Such a correlation
measurement is a unique feature of a hybrid air-shower observatory with
sensitivity to both the electromagnetic and muonic components. It allows an
accurate determination of the spread of primary masses in the cosmic-ray flux.
Up till now, constraints on the spread of primary masses have been dominated by
systematic uncertainties. The present correlation measurement is not affected
by systematics in the measurement of the depth of shower maximum or the signal
in the water Cherenkov stations. The analysis relies on general characteristics
of air showers and is thus robust also with respect to uncertainties in
hadronic event generators. The observed correlation in the energy range around
the `ankle' at differs significantly from
expectations for pure primary cosmic-ray compositions. A light composition made
up of proton and helium only is equally inconsistent with observations. The
data are explained well by a mixed composition including nuclei with mass . Scenarios such as the proton dip model, with almost pure compositions, are
thus disfavoured as the sole explanation of the ultrahigh-energy cosmic-ray
