The belief that smoking reduces stress, which causes stressed smokers to increase their intensity of smoking, also influences the maintenance of smoking behaviour. This study aimed to determine indoor smoking behavior and ARI symptoms in Cambodia, Timor Leste, and the Philippines. This research uses secondary data, especially DHS data from 2015–2020, in Cambodia, Timor Leste, and the Philippines. This study uses household data with the variables of women's smoking behavior in the home and ARI symptoms in toddlers. The number of times a person smokes per day, week, or month will be given to urban and rural households and recorded.  The researcher will compare the number of times a mother smoked in the home with the number of times a child under five had symptoms of ARI.  Data analysis was conducted using JAPS software version 16 by conducting frequency distribution and percentage on each variable. Daily smoking at home is highest in Timor Leste (47.5%) compared to daily smoking behavior in the Philippines (47.5%) in urban households. Weekly smoking at home was highest in Timor Leste (11.2%) compared to weekly indoor smoking behavior in the Philippines (7%) in urban households. mothers who smoked in the home had a higher number of children under five with ARI symptoms (Philippines 2.2%, Cambodia 10%) than mothers who did not smoke had a higher number of children under five with ARI symptoms (Philippines 1.5%, Cambodia 5.4%).Mothers' daily smoking behavior in the home is still high in Cambodia, Timor Leste, and the Philippines, especially in rural areas compared to urban areas. Households with mothers who smoke in the home are likelier to have toddlers who experience ARI symptoms than households without mothers who smoke. Cambodia is a country that has a high number of mothers who smoke at home and toddlers who experience ARI symptoms. Keyword:   ARI Symptoms, Home,  Households, Smoking Behaviou

Introduction: For a long time, the literature has established that HPV may be associated to pharynx cancer. Objective: To verify the number of publications in three different databases on the prevalence of oral, esophageal, penile, and cervical-vaginal cancer associated with HPV. Material and methods: The publications were verified in Pubmed, Lilacs, and Bireme databases; the keywords “mouth cancer”, “esophageal cancer”, “penile cancer”, and “cervical vaginal cancer”were associated with HPV. Data were tabulated in absolute numbers. Results: In all databases, the number of cervical carcinoma was much larger than that of other cancers. Conclusion: The number of cervical cancer was the most found associated with HPV because of the histological and specific functional conditions of this site.Introduction: For a long time, the literature has established that HPV may be associated to pharynx cancer. BACKGROUND: neoangiogenesis and the immune response are important mechanisms in metastasis development. AIM: to evaluate lymph node reactivity and microvessel density in neck metastasis of occult primary squamous cell carcinoma considering their histological and clinical variables. STUDY DESIGN: retrospesctive case-series. METHOD: 19 patients with neck metastasis of occult primary squamous cell carcinoma who underwent neck dissection between 1983 and 2000 were selected. The lymph nodes were reevaluated on the type of reactivity in both the cortical and paracortical areas, and the metastasis were assessed as to grade, desmoplasia, necrosis and microvessel density (CD34). The relationship between histological and clinical variables was evaluated. RESULTS: the median microvessel density was 91 vessels/mm2, varying from 28 to 145. Paracortical hyperplasia was more common in patients below 55 years of age (90% x 44%, p= 0.05), but there was no relationship between reactivity patterns and microvessel density with prognosis. The disease-free survival was 52% in 3 years, being similar in both groups, with higher or lower microvessel densities. CONCLUSION: microvessel density in neck metastasis of occult primary squamous cell carcinoma had a great individual variability. It wasn t possible to establish the relationship between microvessel density and the clinical or histological variables studied.INTRODUÇÃO: A neoangiogênese e a resposta imunológica são mecanismos importantes no desenvolvimento das metástases.

Improving the Health of African Americans in the USA: An Overdue Opportunity for Social Justice

Using a modified social ecological model, we conducted a review of the literature and nationwide statistics on African American health. We discuss the main social determinants of health and main health disparities, risk factors, the leading causes of morbidity and mortality, and access to health services for blacks in the USA. The mechanisms through which social determinants, including racism, exert their deleterious effects on black health are discussed at the macro and individual levels. Incarceration and mental health care issues are highlighted as priorities to be addressed. African Americans remain the least healthy ethnic group in the USA, a somber legacy of years of racial and social injustice and a formidable challenge to equitable health care for all. Systemic causes of suboptimal black health require equally systemic solutions; positive trends in black health indicators seem to be driven by social development programs, economic investment in education, participation of African Americans in policy, and decision-making and expansion of access to health care

Fermonic anyons: entanglement and quantum computation from a resource-theoretic perspective

Often quantum computational models can be understood via the lens of resource theories, where a computational advantage is achieved by consuming specific forms of quantum resources and, conversely, resource-free computations are classically simulable. For example, circuits of nearest-neighbor matchgates can be mapped to free-fermion dynamics, which can be simulated classically. Supplementing these circuits with nonmatchgate operations or non-gaussian fermionic states, respectively, makes them quantum universal. Can we similarly identify quantum computational resources in the setting of more general quasi-particle statistics, such as that of fermionic anyons? In this work, we develop a resource-theoretic framework to define and investigate the separability of fermionic anyons. We build the notion of separability through a fractional Jordan-Wigner transformation, leading to a Schmidt decomposition for fermionic-anyon states. We show that this notion of fermionic-anyon separability, and the unitary operations that preserve it, can be mapped to the free resources of matchgate circuits. We also identify how entanglement between two qubits encoded in a dual-rail manner, as standard for matchgate circuits, corresponds to the notion of entanglement between fermionic anyons. Though this does not coincide with the usual definition of qubit entanglement, it provides new insight into the limited capabilities of matchgate circuits.Comment: 7+19 pages, 3 figure
