Self-dependence of economics students at Tomsk State University, Russia

The household finance course is an important part of economics student curriculum because it takes the students attention to questions about their own finance and improve their financial literacy. Within the household finance course we conducted the survey of students. As a result of the questionnaire we received the information of (1) household types, (2) types of accommodation, (3) expenses, (4) incomes, (5) rests of the money, reserves, debts, real assets, (6) medium term financial plans and (7) financial experience of students. Results indicated that self-dependence of Russian students is considerably based on reciprocal interrelation within expanded household. The recip-rocal character of relation within Russian expanded households exhibits itself by parental alimony payments to young adults and confidence in possibility to use parental funds in case of necessity

Positives, Potential, and Preparation: Pre-service Special Educators’ Knowledge About Teaching Reading to Children with Down Syndrome

In this era of reading as a priority, research has indicated that children with Down syndrome (DS) can indeed learn to read, attaining functional levels of literacy and beyond. Families of children with DS are also increasingly advocating for reading instruction for their children. However, few studies have examined what beginning educators know about reading and DS. This study explored the knowledge and perceptions of pre-service special educators about the reading needs and abilities of children with DS. Participants were 225 university students, enrolled in special education teaching credential programs in two southern California universities, who completed a survey designed to assess their knowledge of teaching reading to children with DS, as well as to describe their approach to reading instruction with these students. Results showed promising knowledge on the part of these future teachers, but also highlight the importance of adequate teacher preparation in teaching reading to children with DS

Choice of antihypertensive therapy in hypertensive patients with critical coronary artery stenosis

Sixty patients with stages II-III AH were studied. ABPM was performed in all the patients. DBPP was assessed by the degree of nocturnal BP lowering. Patients were randomized into groups receiving perindopril or losartan potassium. Perindopril was prescribed at a dose of 4 mg/day with subsequent rising up to 8 mg/day during 7 days. The initial dose of losartan potassium was 25 mg with subsequent rising up to 50 mg 2 times a day. The duration of observation was 8 weeks. CaCu2(SeO3)2Cl2: spin-1/2 Heisenberg chain compound with complex frustrated interchain couplings

We report the crystal structure, magnetization measurements, and band-structure calculations for the spin-1/2 quantum magnet CaCu2(SeO3)2Cl2. The magnetic behavior of this compound is well reproduced by a uniform spin-1/2 chain model with the nearest-neighbor exchange of about 133 K. Due to the peculiar crystal structure, spin chains run in the direction almost perpendicular to the structural chains. We find an exotic regime of frustrated interchain couplings owing to two inequivalent exchanges of 10 K each. Peculiar superexchange paths grant an opportunity to investigate bond-randomness effects under partial Cl-Br substitution.Comment: Extended version: 9 pages, 7 figures, 4 table
