Production of high temperature-resistant strains of Agaricus bitorquis
In this study, the culture mushroom Agaricus bitorquis (Quel.) Sacc. was examined for growth of mycelia and fructifications under high temperature. The spores taken from the mushrooms that were collected from nature were grouped as A, B, C, D and E. These spores were inoculated into malt extract agar and incubated at 30ºC and primer mycelium was produced. The mycelium discus taken from primer mycelium in 8 mm diameter were inoculated into the center of malt extract agar and incubated at 30ºC, 32ºC, 34ºC, 36ºC, and 38ºC, separately. During the incubation period the growth of the mycelia were measured. The best mycelia growth for all groups was seen at 30ºC. At 36ºC, the E group mycelia and at 38ºC other group’s mycelia did not grow. These temperatures were determined as thermal lethal point for the groups. From all the mycelia produced spawn was prepared and inoculated into compost and incubated at 30ºC and 32ºC. The harvested mushrooms were inspected morphologically.Key words: Agaricus bitorquis, mycelial growth, high temperature

(Un)Sustainability and Organization Studies: Towards a Radical Engagement
In this essay, we trace the evolution of the field of sustainability in management and organization studies and narrate its epistemological twists and turns. Concerned by the current trajectory that tends to diminish a focus on political concerns, we propose a new research agenda, ecological case for business, that transforms our paradigmatic orientation in four shifts: 1) altering our epistemological lenses from managerial to critical perspectives, 2) altering our ontological lenses from realist to relational view, 3) changing the way we design and conduct research from discipline-focused to interdisciplinary knowledge, and 4) transforming our scholarly stance from value-neutral to engaged scholarship. We argue that these shifts have capacities to overcome the conceptual limitations of the business case, and more fundamentally, help us question our scholarly positioning to the ongoing socio-ecological crises

Integrated usage of geophysical prospection techniques in Höyük (tepe, tell)-type archaeological settlements
The integrated use of geophysical methods has developed rapidly in the last fifteen years in archaeological prospection (Brizzolari et al., 1992; Gaffney et al., 2004; Drahor, 2006; Casana et al., 2008). The combined application of different geophysical techniques supplies useful information about buried archaeological contexts, particularly höyük(tell, tepe)-type archaeological settlements. The aim of such studies is to help archaeologists conduct fast, effective and economical excavations b..
Anthropocene and "development" : intertwined trajectories since the beginning of the Great Acceleration = Antropoceno e "desenvolvimento" : trajetórias entrelaçadas desde o começo da Grande Aceleração
Objectives: We aim to propose the thesis that the trajectories of the Anthropocene and the current mainstream understandings of development are intertwined from the beginning. It means that the Anthropocene and the “development” are coetaneous: the implementation of development policies for the so-considered underdeveloped regions started to happen at the same time of what is known as The Great Acceleration of production, consumption and environmental degradation in a global level. Method: In this conceptual paper, we adopt a decolonial critique as an analytical lens and argue that different geopolitical positions may be necessary for approaching the issue of the Anthropocene from epistemological reflections that can include the cultural and political context of the production and reproduction of local knowledge. Results: Our theoretical argumentation sheds light on the role of Global North and South relations in shaping the environmental crisis. Latin America (LA) exemplifies the modus operandi of the intertwinement of the practical effects of development policies and the environmental consequences underlying the Anthropocene, in which natural resources are over-explored to satisfy export-oriented trade, from the South toward the North. LA is not only a propitious context to show the validity of our thesis, but also the source of alternatives to such developmental model. Conclusion: The emphasis on development as a cause of the Anthropocene supports The Great Acceleration thesis. The proposition of the name Developmentocene comes from the thesis that development and Anthropocene are coetaneous, the intertwinement of both resulting in the very definition of the new epoch.
Nuclear anomalies in the buccal cells of calcite factory workers
The micronucleus (MN) assay on exfoliated buccal cells is a useful and minimally invasive method for monitoring genetic damage in humans. To determine the genotoxic effects of calcite dust that forms during processing, MN assay was carried out in exfoliated buccal cells of 50 (25 smokers and 25 non-smokers) calcite factory workers and 50 (25 smokers and 25 non-smokers) age- and sex-matched control subjects. Frequencies of nuclear abnormalities (NA) other than micronuclei, such as binucleates, karyorrhexis, karyolysis and ‘broken eggs', were also evaluated. Micronuclei and the other aforementioned anomalies were analysed by two way analysis of covariance. The linear correlations between the types of micronucleus and nuclear abnormalities were determined by Spearman's Rho. There was a positive correlation between micronuclei and other types of nuclear abnormalities in accordance with the Spearman's Rho test. Results showed statistically significant difference between calcite fabric workers and control groups. MN and NA frequencies in calcite fabric workers were significantly higher than those in control groups (p < 0.05). The results of this study indicate that calcite fabric workers are under risk of significant cytogenetic damage
Assessment of the genotoxic impact of pesticides on farming communities in the countryside of Santa Catarina State, Brazil
The aim of this study was to assess the use of pesticides on farms located in the Lambedor River watershed in Guatambu, State of Santa Catarina, as well as to determine, by micronucleus testing, the risk of genotoxic impact. Samples from locally collected Cyprinus carpio, Hypostomus punctatus, Rhamdia quelen and Oreochromis niloticus gave evidence of a mean increase in micronuclei frequency from 6.21 to 13.78 in 1,000 erythrocytes, a clear indication of the genotoxic potenciality of pesticide residues in regional dams, and their significant contribution to local environmental contamination

Theoretical perspectives on organizations and organizing in a post-growth era
The fundamental assumption we base this Special Issue on is that narrow concepts of growth have become the ruling ideas of this age, entrenched both in everyday life and to a considerable extent in the theoretical thinking and traditions of research conducted by organization and management studies scholars. We explain how tacit (or overt) endorsement of unbridled economic growth (the growth imperative) has pernicious practical effects and how it tends to restrict the intellectual base of the field. We argue that notions of degrowth present scholars with challenges as well as opportunities to reframe core assumptions and develop new directions in theory and research. Envisioning a post-COVID 19 world where societies and organizations can flourish without growth is one of the most difficult tasks facing theorists. We approach this challenge first by discussing the hegemonic properties of growth ideology and second by sketching an alternative political economy as a context for reimagining social and economic relations within planetary capacities in a post-growth era. Drawing on degrowth literature in ecological economics, sociology and political ecology, we identify key principles relevant to processes of organizing for a more just and environmentally sustainable future: frugal abundance, conviviality, care, and open relocalization. We conclude by introducing the three articles we feature in this issue along with some thoughts about theorizing policy and regulatory changes needed to generate transformational change and a future research agenda
