Chapter 7 The development of political systems in post-communist countries
This book focuses on social transformations as one of the central topics in the social sciences. The study of European social transformations is very valuable in the context of universal discussions within social sciences: explaining invariable, universal attributes of societies and examining changing attributes. The book consists of 20 chapters on European social transformations, written from the perspectives of distinguished scholars from such disciplines as economics, political science, educational science, geography, media and communication studies, public management and administration, social psychology and sociology. The temporal and spatial range of the book is wide, including such global changes as time-space compression, focusing particularly on change processes in Europe during the last two decades. The book consists of four main parts, beginning with an overview of the theoretical and methodological approaches, and then focusing separately on post-communist transformations, institutional drivers of social transformations in the European Union, and European transformations in the context of global processes. The book presents current theoretical, empirical and methodological approaches that complement the scientific literature on social transformations. This book is both an invaluable resource for scholars and an indispensable teaching tool for use in the classroom and will be of interest to students, academics, and policy-makers studying how this diverse region has changed over recent years
Assessing Institutional Determinants of MP Behaviour: Survey Data from the Baltic States
To what extent do electoral & legislative institutions affect the behaviour of parliamentarians in new democracies? This article examines this question on the basis of a wide-ranging survey of MPs in the Baltic states from January 2000. Given substantial differences in the types of institutions existing in the three states, the research tests whether these differences are reflected in MPs' responses to key questions about their relationship to & interaction with (1) parliamentary work, (2) their party & faction, (3) individual voters, (4) the interests of their district or constituency, & (5) interest groups. The results corroborate a number of existing theoretical postulates, while leaving unconfirmed others
The Significance of Recognising Domestic Violence, in Light of Estonian Legal Experts’ Opinion and the Prospects for Systematising the Relevant Legislation
Domestic violence has been under public scrutiny for some time both internationally and in Estonia. A highly negative social phenomenon, it causes considerable harm to individuals` basic rights and thereby poses an acute legal problem. Accordingly, the objective with the article is to address the attitudes of Estonia’s practising legal experts towards domestic violence from the perspective of recognising it and to support the idea of exploring options for further systematising the relevant legislation. World judicial practice uses two fundamental types of regulation to address domestic violence: reconciling and punitive. According to a survey carried out among Estonia’s practising lawyers in 2014, legal professionals may favour either kind of regulation. The authors of the article hold the view that Estonia needs fairly separate regulation for preventing and combating domestic violence yet regulation that is integrated well into the system at large. Obviously, laws cannot solve all problems related to domestic violence on their own; however, the potential of laws should not be underestimated
Granulatsiooni tehnoloogiast inspireeritud ehtekomplekt
Janis Pettai lõputöö „Granulatsiooni tehnoloogiast inspireeritud ehtekomplekt“ annab ülevaate granulatsiooni ajaloost ehtekunstis. Praktilises osas valmistatakse sama tehnoloogiat kasutades ehtekomplekt paarile. Ehtekomplekt „Paar“ lähtub kolmnurgast kui mehe ja naise sümbolist ning müstilisest lõpmatusest.
Komplekt koosneb neljast ehtest, mis on kujundatud ühtses vormikeeles moodustades terviku. Eheteks on kaks ripatsitega kaelaketti ja kaks käeketti. Ehted on justkui sarnased, kuid samas erinevad nüansside poolest.
Ehtekomplekti loomeloos seostatakse ehteketid suletud ringiga, millel pole algust ega lõppu. Autor uurib müstilise lõpmatuse juuri, leides need Vana-Egiptuse animistlikust usundist.
Kirjalikus osas antakse ülevaade ka ehete valmistamise tehnilisest poolest. Detailselt on kirjeldatud kogu praktilise osa tegemiseks kasutatud töövõtteid ning lisatud autori analüüs töö käigusthttps://www.ester.ee/record=b5437880*es

Automated weighing chamber for grain
Rakenduskõrghariduse lõputöö
Biotehniliste süsteemide õppekavalTöö teema valisin, kuna ettevõttes kus ma praktikal olin on vana ja ebatäpne mehaaniline
kaalukoda. Töö eesmärgiks on projekteerida uus kaalukoda mis on täielikult
automatiseeritud ja kindlaks teha, kas see on ettevõttele majanduslikult tasuv. Projekteerisin
kaalukoja hoone ja valisin sinna sisse kõige sobivama tehnika ja tarkvara kombinatsiooni.
Arvutasin välja projekti maksumuse. Tulemuseks sain valmis kaalukoja projekti mis on
reaalselt võimalik valmis teha suurema ettevõtte poolt.I chose this topic because of the company where I was an intern, had a old and inacurate
wighing chamber for grain. In my work I designed a building which holds the necessary
equipment for a completely automated weighing system. I calculated the cost the project to
see if it would be financially viable option. I came to a conclusion that for a larg company it
is possible to build such a project and still be profitable
