    Vibrational Behavior of Metal Nanowires under Tensile Stress

    We have investigated the vibrational density of states (VDOS) of a thin Cu nanowire with axial orientation and considered the effect of axial strain. The VDOS are calculated using a real space Green's function approach with the force constant matrices extracted from interaction potential based on the embedded atom method. Results for the vibrational density of states of a strain-free nanowire show quite distinctive characteristics compared to that of a bulk atom, the most striking feature of which is the existence of high frequency modes above the top of the bulk spectrum. We further predict that the low frequency characteristics of the VDOS reveal the quasi-1 dimensional (Q1D) behavior only when the wire is extremely thin. Through decomposition of VDOS into local atoms we also exhibit that while the anomalous increase in low frequency density of states is mainly due to the corner atoms, the enhancement in high frequency modes is primarily moderated by core atoms. We, additionally, find that while the high frequency band above the top of the bulk phonon shifts to higher frequencies, the characteristics at low frequencies remains almost the same upon stretching the nanowire along the axial direction

This periodicity allow us to manipulate light in ways that have not been possible before. As a result, photonic crystal waveguide components play a significant role in integrated optical circuit design because waveguides allow only certain electromagnetic wave modes to propagate inside the structure. There are many corresponding applications that rely on total internal reflection. However, with total internal reflection, there is a problem in guiding light through sharp corners, large optical losses occur around tight curves with a small bending radius. A simple explanation for these losses is that the angle of the incident light too low for total internal reflection when wave turns through a sharp corner. Thus, an unacceptable fraction of the electromagnetic energy is radiated out of the waveguide. To overcome this difficulty, in this thesis, we demonstrate a novel method for guiding light through sharp corners, using a 1 photonic crystal slab waveguide for the straight sections, and assisted by 2D Line Defect Waveguide at the corners.Plane Wave Method and Supercell Method are used to Figure out parameters and obtain the guided mode for our proposed structure. Then, numerical simulations (FDTD) reveal nearly perfect transmission at certain frequency ranges. Also, in this thesis different corner elements are used to show highly efficient transmission of light through sharp corners.     In this study, we pay attention to a functional differential equation (FDE) of first order including N-variable delays. We construct new sufficient conditions in relation to the Hyers-Ulam stability (HUS) and the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability (GHURS ) of the FDE of first order including N-variable delays. By using Banach contraction principle (BCP), Picard operator and Gronwall lemma, we confirm two new theorems in relation to the HUS and the GHURS. The results of this study are new and extend, improve some earlier results of the HUS and the GHURS

    Asset Price Channel: Evidence from Turkey

To conclude, stock prices have a predictable effect on the investment expenditures, and stock prices may be a good indicator of economic activities

    06.03.2018 tarihli ve 30352 sayılı Resmi Gazetede yayımlanan “Yükseköğretim Kanunu İle Bazı Kanun Ve Kanun Hükmünde Kararnamelerde Değişiklik Yapılması Hakkında Kanun” ile 18.06.2018 tarihli “Lisansüstü Tezlerin Elektronik Ortamda Toplanması, Düzenlenmesi ve Erişime Açılmasına İlişkin Yönerge” gereğince tam metin erişime açılmıştır.Edebî bir şahsiyet olarak tanınan ve Türk tarihinde ?Millî Şair? unvanıyla anılanMehmet Akif, hayatının her safhasında Kur'ân-ı Kerîm'e ilgi duymuş, onu anlamayave anlatmaya çalışmıştır. Bir sosyolog gözüyle toplumdaki aksaklıkları ve ahlakîyozlaşmaları tespit etmiş, bu noktada Kur'ânî çözümler üretmiştir. Akif,Müslümanların geri kalmalarını, Kur'ân'dan uzaklaşmalarına bağlamaktadır. Çözümolarak da ilk dönem Müslümanlarının yaşadığı duru ve öz İslâm'a dönmeyiönermektedir.Akif, klasik anlamda bir müfessir olmamakla beraber, Arapçaya ve Kur'ân ilimlerineolan vukufiyeti, onu tefsir sahasında da söz söylemeye itmiştir. Kur'ân'dan yapmışolduğu âyet ve sûre tefsirleri, meşhur eseri Safahat'taki Kur'ân'dan ilhamlı şiirleri,yazmış olduğu Kur'ân tercümesi ile bazı yazarlardan tercüme ettiği tefsir ve âyetmeâlleri göz önüne alındığında, Akif'in Kur'ân ilimleri alanındaki üretkenliğiazımsanamayacak bir hacme ulaşmaktadır. Bütün bu verileri dikkate aldığımızda,Akif'in tefsircilik yönünün de bulunduğunu ve onun tefsirciliğinin araştırmaya değerolduğunu düşündük.Biz bu çalışmamızda, Akif'in tefsir makalelerinin ve Kur'ân'dan ilhamlı şiirlerinin,?İctimâî Tefsir? metodunun kriterleriyle örtüştüğünü müşahede ederek, Akif'in tefsiryazılarını bu kapsamda değerlendirmeyi uygun gördük. Çalışmamızın birincibölümünü Akif'in hayatı, eserleri, edebî ve ilmî şahsiyeti, tefsire olan ilgisi, Kur'ân'abakışı gibi konulara ayırdık. İkinci bölümde Akif'in tefsir yazılarının genelözelliklerini, tefsirin yazılma gayesini ve tefsir metodunu çalışmamızın ana konusunuteşkil eden ?Akif'in Tefsirciliği? kapsamında izah etmeye çalıştık. Çalışmamızınüçüncü bölümünü ise sadece Akif'in Kur'ân'dan ilham alarak yazdığı şiirlerinehasrettik. Âyetlerin tefsirleri mahiyetinde olan bu şiirleri, âyetler ile olan uygunluk,âyetlerden çıkan prensipler ve şiirlerdeki Kur'ânî kavramlar bakımından incelemeyegayret ettik.Netice olarak Akif'in tefsir alanındaki çalışmalarını dikkate alarak onu tefsirciliğiniortaya koyma gayretinde olduk. Akif'in Kur'ân ilimleriyle olan alakasını izah ederek,onun bu sahadaki ehliyet ve liyakatini göstermeye çalıştık.Anahtar kelimeler: İctimâî Tefsir, Akif'in Tefsirciliği, Tefsir Makaleleri, Kur'ân'danİlhamlı Şiirler.Known as a literary figure and called as a "Nationalist Poet" in the Turkish history,Mehmet Akif, had always been interested in Koran throughout his life and tried tounderstand and explain it. He fastened down the lacking values and moraldegenerations in the community just like a sociologist and introduced solutionsinspired from Koran. Akif relates the underdevelopment of the Turks with divergencefrom Koran. And as a solution, he proposes going back to the plain and core Islam inwhich the first period Muslims were living.Though Akif was not an interpreter in the traditional sense, his knowledge on Arabicand Koran sciences made him interpret in the Koran interpretation field. When hisinterpretations of verses and suras from the Koran, his Koran inspired poems in hisfamous work Safahat (Stages), the Koran interpretation he has written and someinterpretations of purports he has done from various authors taken into consideration,Akif's productivity within the Koran sciences reach a considerable amount. Aftertaking all these data into consideration, we concluded that Akif had an interpretativeaspect that is worth to be researched.In this very study, observing that Akif?s interpretation articles and Koran inspiredpoems overlap with ?Social Interpretation? method, we thought it would beappropriate to evaluate his interpretation writings within this context. We spared thefirst chapter of our study to Akif?s life, his works, his literary and scientificpersonality, his interest in interpretation and the way he perceives Koran. In thesecond chapter, we tried to explain the general features of Akif?s interpretationwritings, the aim that led to the writing of the interpretations and the interpretationmethod within the ?Akif?s Interpretation? scope which in fact constitutes the maintopic of our study. We devoted the third chapter of our study merely to Akif's Koraninspired poems. We tried to examine these poems, which possess the nature of theinterpretation of the verses, considering their coherence with the verses, the principlesderived from verses and the Koran like concepts.To sum up, we made an effort to reveal Akif's interpretative aspect taking his studieswithin the interpretation field into account.     Bilişimde ontoloji kavramı ve istatistik ontolojisi

    Günümüzde web sayfaları, kullanıcılarına yapısal olmayan, dinamik, dağınık ve hızla büyüyen bir veri yığını sunmaktadır. Bu yığın verilerin ne anlama geldiği ve birbirleri ile olan ilişkileri bilinmemektedir. Günümüzdeki web sayfaları bireylerin okuması için tasarlanmıştır. İçeriğindeki bilgilerin birbirleri ile olan anlamsal ilişkileri belirtilmemiş, sadece insanların kolaylıkla okuyabileceği şekilde düzenlenmiştir. Bu nedenle web sayfalarının içeriğini sadece insanlar anlamlandırabilmektedir. Bilgisayar programlarının web sayfalarını okuyup işlemesi ve anlamlandırması mümkün değildir. Bunu sağlamak için yeni bir yaklaşım gerekmektedir. Bu konuya ilk olarak Tim Berners Lee değinmiş ve anlamsal web kavramını öne sürerek çözüm önerisinde bulunmuştur. Anlamsal webde bilgiler bilgisayarların da anlayabileceği şekilde tanımlanmakta ve birbirleri ile olan anlamsal ilişkileri düzenli bir yapıda verilmektedir. Ontolojiler, anlamsal webde bilginin anlamlı paylaşılabilmesi için kullanılmaktadırlar. Ontolojiler sayesinde sınıflandırmanın ötesinde kavramlar arasında anlamsal ve mantıksal bağlantılar kurabilmek mümkün olacaktır. Bu çalışmada, bilişimdeki ontoloji kavramının tanıtılması amaçlanmaktadır. Bu kapsamda kısaca web’in gelişiminden ve anlamsal web kavramından bahsedilmiş, daha sonra ontoloji kavramı açıklanmış ve istatistik ontolojisi oluşturulmuştur. Oluşturulan istatistik ontolojisi, kullanıcıların doğru istatistiksel testi seçmesine yardımcı olan bir web uygulamasında kullanılmıştır. In recent years, web pages are offering non-structured, dynamic, rapidly growing and unclassified data to their visitors. This big stack of data, and the relations between them are not well identified and it is an unknown to the visitors even though main purpose is to be read by them. Instead of defining meaningful relations between presented data, they are arranged to let visitors easily read them. Hence, web sites can be read and interpreted by humans, but only humans. It is not possible for computer applications to do interpretation and reasoning, and there must be a new approach to let applications have this skill. This subject is first announced by Tim Barners Lee where he suggested to use semantic web to overcome this obstacle. By applying semantic web exercises, data can be presented as structured to allow computers understand them. Ontologies are used to share structured and easily understandable data in semantic web. By having ontology exercises, it will be possible to set reasonable and logical relations between definitions, on top of structural categorization. In this study, introduction and explanation of the term “ontology” in information technologies is aimed. Hence, development of web technologies and semantic web are mentioned to explain what ontology is and how one can set statistical ontology. This statistical ontology is used in a web application which helps its users to select correct statistical test type according to their needs
