It is possible to argue that Additive Manufacturing technology has positive environmental impacts when compared to traditional production. The Additive Manufacturing technology, which provides less waste of raw materials with the use of smart materials, allows the materials to be included in the production process layer by layer (i.e. in a stratified manner) and with very high precision. Based on this point of view, the importance of Additive Manufacturing technology emerges for a sustainable production approach minimizing negative environmental effects, protecting energy and natural resources, and aiming to produce products rationally. Additive Manufacturing, which focuses on innovation and creativity, should take its place in industries as part of a holistic sustainability plan. With this study, the purpose was to determine the importance of Additive Manufacturing technology for sustainable production. It is thought that the results to be reached by the study will constitute a guiding reference for the strategies that the enterprises will develop on the subject. In this context, important application areas of Additive Manufacturing technology that are considered to contribute to sustainable production were uncovered as a result of a wide literature review and expert opinions. Ten criteria, which were considered to contribute to the sustainable production of Additive Manufacturing technology, were identified and the effects and relations among these criteria were analyzed with the DEMATEL Method. Obtained results show that Additive Manufacturing technology has a very important effect on sustainable production, with its contributions such as developing sustainable solutions, enabling green production, encouraging the production of innovative products, and preventing excessive resource use. © 2022 The Authors

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of COVID-19 on the Turkish manufacturing sector by using analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods on a sectoral basis. In this way, the sectors that had the highest negative effects of COVID-19 will be determined. Thanks to the findings to be obtained as a result of this study, it will be possible for decision-makers to develop strategies that may differ on a sectoral basis at the point of combating the pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: The negative effects of COVID-19 were revealed by a large literature search. The importance levels of the factors determined within the scope of finance, supply, production and workforce were determined by the AHP method. Then, the TOPSIS method was used to determine which sectors were more affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, based on these factors. Findings: The findings of this study obtained reveal that the most important negative effect of COVID-19 was on businesses in terms of reduced sales caused by domestic sales and export. Again, the findings show that the sector most affected by COVID-19 is automotive, which shows that the least affected sector is the pharmaceutical and medical equipment sector. Practical implications: Primary data was used to determine the criteria weight. Therefore, there is a possibility that the answers are not objectively evaluated. The findings are limited to the criteria that was used, the views of the professionals and AHP-TOPSIS methods. Studies that use more criteria and different decision-making methods can have different results. Originality/value: The manufacturing sector is at the forefront of the sectors affected by the global bottleneck caused by COVID-19. In this study, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Turkish manufacturing sector are discussed on a sectoral basis. Studies in the literature have revealed that the effects of pandemics such as COVID-19 vary between sectors. For this reason, it is important to evaluate the effects of COVID-19 from a sectoral perspective. Thanks to this study, it is thought that it will be possible to take measures that may differ between sectors to combat the negative effects of COVID-19. © 2022, Emerald Publishing Limited

Lojistik faaliyetlerinin yalnızca taşımacılık hizmetinden ibaret olmadığının işletmeler tarafından anlaşılmaya başlanması, lojistiğin kendisinin de yapısal anlamda değişmesine imkân sağlamıştır. İşletmelerde yapılmakta olan lojistik faaliyetlerden beklenen yararın sağlanabilmesi, lojistik faaliyetlerin başarısında rol oynayan değişkenlere bağlı olmaktadır. Dolayısıyla çalışmada, işletmelerdeki lojistik faaliyetlerin süreçsel etkinliğinde rol oynayan değişkenlerin lojistik performansa ve işletme performansına etkisini tespit etmek, bu değişkenlerin işletme performansına etkisinde lojistik performansın aracılık etkisi olup olmadığını belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma TRC1 Bölgesi'nde bulunan OSB'lerde faaliyet gösteren işletmeler üzerinde yapılmıştır. 298 orta ve üst düzey yöneticiden toplanan veriler SPSS ve AMOS paket programlarıyla analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler neticesinde; lojistik faaliyetlerin süreçsel etkinliğinde rol oynayan değişkenler ile lojistik performans ve işletme performansı arasında anlamlı ilişkiler tespit edilmiş, lojistik faaliyetlerin süreçsel etkinliğinde rol oynayan değişkenlerin işletme performansı üzerinde, lojistik faaliyetlerin süreçsel etkinliğinde rol oynayan değişkenlerin lojistik performans üzerinde, ayrıca lojistik faaliyetlerin süreçsel etkinliğinde rol oynayan değişkenlerin işletme performansına etkisinde lojistik performansın aracılık (mediator) etkisinin olduğu bulgularına ulaşılmıştır

Top-view Trajectories: A Pedestrian Dataset of Vehicle-Crowd Interaction from Controlled Experiments and Crowded Campus

Predicting the collective motion of a group of pedestrians (a crowd) under the vehicle influence is essential for the development of autonomous vehicles to deal with mixed urban scenarios where interpersonal interaction and vehicle-crowd interaction (VCI) are significant. This usually requires a model that can describe individual pedestrian motion under the influence of nearby pedestrians and the vehicle. This study proposed two pedestrian trajectory datasets, CITR dataset and DUT dataset, so that the pedestrian motion models can be further calibrated and verified, especially when vehicle influence on pedestrians plays an important role. CITR dataset consists of experimentally designed fundamental VCI scenarios (front, back, and lateral VCIs) and provides unique ID for each pedestrian, which is suitable for exploring a specific aspect of VCI. DUT dataset gives two ordinary and natural VCI scenarios in crowded university campus, which can be used for more general purpose VCI exploration. The trajectories of pedestrians, as well as vehicles, were extracted by processing video frames that come from a down-facing camera mounted on a hovering drone as the recording equipment. The final trajectories of pedestrians and vehicles were refined by Kalman filters with linear point-mass model and nonlinear bicycle model, respectively, in which xy-velocity of pedestrians and longitudinal speed and orientation of vehicles were estimated. The statistics of the velocity magnitude distribution demonstrated the validity of the proposed dataset. In total, there are approximate 340 pedestrian trajectories in CITR dataset and 1793 pedestrian trajectories in DUT dataset. The dataset is available at GitHub.Comment: This paper was accepted into the 30th IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium. Personal use of this material is permitted.
