Science fiction and video games have long served as valuable tools for envisioning and inspiring future technological advancements. This position paper investigates the potential of Cyberpunk 2077, a popular science fiction video game, to shed light on the future of technology, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence, edge computing, augmented humans, and biotechnology. By analyzing the game's portrayal of these technologies and their implications, we aim to understand the possibilities and challenges that lie ahead. We discuss key themes such as neurolink and brain-computer interfaces, multimodal recording systems, virtual and simulated reality, digital representation of the physical world, augmented and AI-based home appliances, smart clothing, and autonomous vehicles. The paper highlights the importance of designing technologies that can coexist with existing preferences and systems, considering the uneven adoption of new technologies. Through this exploration, we emphasize the potential of science fiction and video games like Cyberpunk 2077 as tools for guiding future technological advancements and shaping public perception of emerging innovations.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figure

Objective and subjective quality of life in adults with autism spectrum disorders in southern Spain

    Get PDF
Subjective and objective measures of quality of life (QoL) were obtained for adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) living in Andalusia (Spain). Seventy-four families responded to question- naires about objective QoL indicators such as employment, health, adaptive behaviour and social network, and were asked to act as proxies for subjective QoL measures. Outcome on objective QoL was extremely poor. Social networks were most frequently composed of family members. Community-oriented resources were absent in most cases. For two-thirds of the families, the ability to act as proxies for subjective QoL was seriously limited by the participants’ poor social and communicative abilities. The results are indicative of the need for additional support to families of adults with ASD and increased community-based resources. Further conceptualization of indicators and measurement of subjective QoL in individuals with severe disabilities and ASD is also needed in order to include their own perspective in the evaluation of service provision

Artificial intelligence strategies in European public broadcasters: Uses, forecasts and future challenges

    Get PDF
As artificial intelligence (AI) gains space in the media, public broadcasters are testing and experimenting with these technologies to raise their services to the new standards of the audiovisual ecosystem. From algorithms that help recommend the most suitable content for users, to others that detect news and automate some of the tasks of journalists, these tools are increasingly present in public audiovisual corporations. The data were obtained from semi-structured in-depth interviews with a convenience sample of 15 corporations from 12 countries. The results reflect a heterogeneous application of artificial intelligence in corporations, oriented towards the automatic creation of content from structured data, the improvement of audience interaction through chatbots, and personalisation or verification. The implementation of these technologies also poses major challenges. Firstly, the economic cost of adapting these systems to each corporation and the difficulties in hiring experts to develop AI solutions prevent a complete deployment of these tools in public broadcasters. As main conclusions, we have understood that AI as a “culture” is believed to be vital for the public audiovisual services of the future, although its application is still far from being a standard and generally does not occupy a relevant strategic position in the innovation departments of corporations

Electoral debates in the VODs of the Public RTVs of Europe

En: 1st Spanish National Conference on Advances in Materials Recycling and Eco – Energy Madrid, 12-13 November 2009.-- Editors: F. A. López, F. Puertas, F. J. Alguacil and A. GuerreroThe modifications in the development of fluidity of a coking coal caused by eucalyptus wood and its carbonization products (charcoal and tars) were assessed by Gieseler plastometry. In addition, three biomass model compounds (cellulose, xylan and lignin) were selected for comparison with biomass products. Thermogravimetry was used to follow the pyrolysis behaviour of the biomass products and model compounds and to study the role of them in the reduction of coal fluidity.Peer reviewe

Compliance validation and diagnosis of business data constraints in business processes at runtime

    Get PDF
Business processes involve data that can be modified and updated by various activities at any time. The data involved in a business process can be associated with flow elements or data stored. These data must satisfy the business compliance rules associated with the process, where business compliance rules are policies or statements that govern the behaviour of a company. To improve and automate the validation and diagnosis of compliance rules based on the description of data semantics (called Business Data Constraints), we propose a framework where dataflow variables and stored data are analyzed. The validation and diagnosis process is automated using Constraint Program-ming, to permit the detection and identification of possibly unsatisfiable Business Data Constraints, even if the data involved in these constraints are not all instantiated. This implies that the potential errors can be determined in advance. Furthermore, a language to describe Business Data Constraints is proposed, for the improvement of user-oriented aspects of the business process description. This language allows a business expert to write Business Data Constraints that will be automatically validated in run-time, without the support of an information technology expert.Junta de Andalucía P08-TIC-04095Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología TIN2009-1371

Application of lactic acid bacteria for the biopreservation of meat products: A systematic review

    Get PDF
Systematic ReviewThe increasing concern of consumers about food quality and safety and their rejection of chemical additives has promoted the breakthrough of the biopreservation field and the development of studies on the use of beneficial bacteria and their metabolites as potential natural antimicrobials for shelf life extension and enhanced food safety. Control of foodborne pathogens in meat and meat products represents a serious challenge for the food industry which can be addressed through the intelligent use of bio-compounds or biopreservatives. This article aims to systematically review the available knowledge about biological strategies based on the use of lactic acid bacteria to control the proliferation of undesirable microorganisms in different meat products. The outcome of the literature search evidenced the potential of several strains of lactic acid bacteria and their purified or semi- purified antimicrobial metabolites as biopreservatives in meat products for achieving longer shelf life or inhibiting spoilage and pathogenic bacteria, especially when combined with other technologies to achieve a synergistic effect.S

Multiple Sensor Monitoring of CFRP Drilling to Define Cutting Parameters Sensitivity on Surface Roughness, Cylindricity and Diameter

    Get PDF
Machining parameters affects the final quality of components made in carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) composite materials. In this framework, the work here presented aims at studying the right combination of cutting speed (v(c)) and feed rate (v(f)), for dry drilling of carbon fiber reinforced plastic composite materials, which obtained better results regarding roughness, hole cylindricity, and diameter. A series of experimental tests were carried out under different drilling conditions (v(c)/v(f)), monitoring the thrust force (Fz), torque (T), and electric power (EP), to define which one can help more for industrial daily life production. Results validation was carried out using the analysis of variance, in order to relate main machining parameters cutting speed and linear feed, with thrust force, drilling torque, main spindle electric power and hole quality parameters (average roughness, cylindricity and diameter). The conclusions show that thrust force is not proportional to the cutting speed and the best combinations of cutting speed and feed were found out around the average values of tested parameters. Spindle electric power is an interesting element to take into account because it is easy to consider in real production
