Chapter Per un profilo di Francesco Soderini, pittore «assai ragionevole nella storia e nei paesi, in grande e più in piccolo»

Francesco Soderini (1671-1736), father of Mauro Soderini (1703-1751), was a Florentine painter who worked for the last members of the Medici dynasty, expecially for the Electress of the Palatinate Anna Maria Luisa, the only daughter of the granduke Cosimo III de’ Medici. Among the artist’s works, only the paintings for Villa La Quiete, the place where Anna Maria Luisa stayed during her last years, are well studied. This paper proposes new attributions to Soderini by recognising his style in some canvases presented on the art market and attributed to anonymous artists. These paintings contribute to a more accurate acknowledgement of the artist and of his style, which was very appreciated by his contemporaries

Humain et Paysage dans l'oeuvre littéraire de Valère Bernard (1860-1936)

L'art de la fin du XIX e siècle met en question les approches réalistes qui visent à donner l'illusion du vrai et, naturalistes qui se livrent à l'exploration du monde contemporain. Valère Bernard, dont l'oeuvre se constitue entre 1883 et 1936 1 , se situe du côté d'une activité artistique qui ne cherche pas à imiter ou donner à voir une nature vraisemblable. Il veut en sonder les mystères. Ses choix linguistiques, soit la langue française, soit la langue d'oc dans ses variantes dialectales provençale maritime, provençale rhodanienne, languedocienne, soit l'espéranto, soit la langue de bohémiens d'origines diverses, soit celle d'immigrés italiens, tous sont intimement liés à sa recherche du « Beau » dans la laideur d'une ville, Marseille, qui s'industrialise de plus en plus ; et, il le craint, les arts aussi. Tout en maîtrisant la gravure, la peinture et l'écriture, tout en appréciant la musique, la céramique, la sculpture, la photographie…, il se positionne par rapport à des possibilités esthétiques en estimant dès le départ que l'oeuvre d'imitation est une rechute dans l'instinct et une démarche servile. Pour lui l'Art est aussi la nature vue « à travers la sensibilité humaine » et il obéit aux lois profondes de l'Être qui sont « l'ordre, le rythme et l'harmonie »

Emigrant Draft Evasion in the First World War: Decision-Making and Emotional Consequences in the Transatlantic Italian family

In 1911, Italians living abroad constituted one-sixth of Italy’s population, numbering roughly five million people. During the First World War, approximately 300,000 men returned from the Americas and other European countries to answer the call to arms and complete their military service. However, this number constitutes only 13 per cent of those men living abroad who were liable for conscription. Thus, this article will examine the larger phenomenon of draft evasion among emigrant Italians across the Atlantic, where most evaders resided. I will begin by analysing evasion in the context of Italian mobilization and the factors influencing emigrants’ decision-making. I argue that the decision was a joint one, negotiated between family members on both sides of the ocean. I will thus also explore the impact of this decision on personal relationships, through three case studies of familial separation initially caused by emigration and then compounded by draft evasion: a husband in California and his wife in Liguria; a son in the Dominican Republic and his mother in Calabria; and a woman in Argentina whose husband had evaded the draft, and her sister in Liguria, exploring the emotional toll this decision took on them and their loved ones

Estudio preliminar de la diversidad genética del capulí (Prunus serotina) en 5 Provincias de la Región Andina de Ecuador mediante el uso de marcadores moleculares microsatélites.

Black cherry (Prunus serotina) is a tetraploid species that belongs to the Rosaceae family, native to North America, but also found in Central America, Ecuador and Peru. This species is widely spread throughout the Ecuadorian highlands and has a great commercial value for local farmers due to its fruit and its use as a windbreak curtain in agricultural fields. This research represents the first study of genetic diversity for P. serotina, in 5 provinces of the Ecuadorian highlands using 8 heterologous microsatelite molecular markers from other species of the genus Prunus. A total of 129 accessions were analyzed and a total of 48 different alleles were found in the 8 analyzed loci. With these data, a binary matrix was generated with which a dendogram and a principle coordinate analysis (PCoA) were built. The results indicate a high intraspecific genetic diversity and a random distribution of capuli throughout the provinces evaluated. This preliminary analysis shows the need to improve the clustering reliability through the use of a higher number of loci, and evaluate the population with specific statistical analysis for tetraploid species. These initial data show a high probability to perform breeding programs and thus increase the farming and conservation potential of this biological resource.El capulí (Prunus serotina) es una especie tetraploide de la familia Rosaceae, originaria de Norteamérica, presente también en Centro América, Ecuador y Perú. La especie está distribuida ampliamente en la sierra ecuatoriana y tiene un gran valor para granjeros locales por la comercialización de su fruto y para crear cortinas rompe vientos en los campos agrícolas. Esta investigación constituye el primer estudio de diversidad genética para P. serotina, realizado en 5 provincias de la sierra ecuatoriana mediante el uso de 8 marcadores moleculares microsatélites heterólogos, provenientes de otras especies del género Prunus. Se analizó un total de 129 accesiones de capulí y se encontró un total de 48 alelos distintos en los 8 loci analizados. Con estos datos se generó una matriz binaria con la que se construyó un dendograma y un análisis de coordenadas principales (PCoA). Los resultados indican una alta diversidad genética intraespecífica, pero no se pudo establecer un patrón de agrupación por provincia, sino más bien una distribución aleatoria. Estos resultados preliminares muestran la necesidad de aumentar la fiabilidad del agrupamiento mediante el análisis de un mayor número de loci y evaluando la población con pruebas estadísticas específicas para especies tetraploides. Estos primeros datos muestran una alta posibilidad de realizar programas de mejoramiento y así ayudar a aumentar el potencial de explotación y conservación de este recurso biológico

Propuesta didáctica para el fortalecimiento de la comprensión de textos narrativos en estudiantes de cuarto grado de EBP: la semiótica de la imagen en el libro álbum

El siguiente trabajo hace parte del macro proyecto de lectura y escritura de la Licenciatura en Español y Literatura de la Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, el cual tiene como objetivo principal fortalecer los procesos de lectura y escritura en estudiantes de todos los niveles educativos y en todos los contextos; en especial, esta propuesta está diseñada para el fortalecimiento de competencias comunicativas y argumentativas en estudiantes de Educación Básica Primaria. El propósito fundamental es comprender de manera crítica los aspectos semióticos que configuran el relato literario de formatos tan potentes como es el libro álbum. Por tanto, esta propuesta didáctica, pretende promover no solo en los estudiantes sino también en los docentes, nuevas formas de acceder a la lectura, desde herramientas que poco se han explorado a lo largo del quehacer docente, como es el caso del libro álbum; porque a partir de él se puede lograr no solo innovar en los procesos educativos, sino también despertar mayor interés por la lectura en los niños. Por lo anterior, se parte de antecedentes teóricos fundamentales como los de Camps (2003), Dolz (1995), Cassany (2007), Vygotsky (1995), Díaz (2007) y otros autores importantes en el campo del lenguaje y todo lo concerniente a estrategias didácticas y orientaciones de las prácticas de aula, en las que se enfoca esta propuesta, dando un sentido y orden a lo que aquí se plantea
