This paper discusses students’ perceptions of the positive impact of learning with blogs in higher educational settings. The research model uses constructs from the social-cognitive theory and motivational model. Relevant hypotheses focusing on direct, moderating, and mediating influences were formulated. A survey was administered to 108 university students taking an undergraduatelevel course in management information systems in a Canadian university. Data analysis was done with the partial least squares structural equation modeling technique. The result shows that students’ perceived usefulness of blogs was not positively associated with their perceptions of the positive impact of using the tool to learn; however, perceived self-efficacy and enjoyment were found to be positively associated with positive impact of learning with blogs. With regard to mediation, the results show that perceived enjoyment was a significant mediator in the relationship between students’ perceived usefulness and their perceptions of positive impact of learning with blogs; the link between perceived selfefficacy was not mediated by perceived enjoyment. The result also indicates that perceived enjoyment moderated the relationship between perceived self-efficacy and usefulness. The implications of the findings for research and practice are noted

This study examines those factors which affect the possibility of using blogs as a tool for continued learning by future infant-school teachers. 222 students participated (3 cohorts spread over 13 class groups) who were in basic infant teacher training classes in a Spanish university. The students, following their experience using blogs throughout the course, responded to a self-administered electronic questionnaire that had been previously validated. A model was created underpinned by various constructs which produced relevant hypotheses based on social-cognitive theory and the technology acceptance model. The partial least squares (PLS) method was used to examine the proposed hypotheses, of which ten were accepted. The results indicated that the variables which significantly contributed to students continuing to use blogs to learn were perceived self-efficacy, personal outcome expectations, perceived support for enhancing social ties, along with perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude and perception of playfulness. The results are discussed and compared with results of other similar research, which allowed the model’s predictive capacity to be replicated and confirmed). Finally, the study provides useful recommendations based on the findings for those teachers who want to use blogs with their university students and want their students to continue using them in their learning.

The success of Internet investment products such as Yu’e Bao directly relies on users\u27 continuous participation. However, few researches have examined Internet investment products from the context of post-adoption. The purpose of this paper is to study continuance usage intention toward Yu’e Bao, a prevalent Internet investment product. The dual-process model (DPM) has been used in several studies of information systems continuance. We have extended the DPM by examining the impact of some critical factors that directly influence continuance usage intention including expected earnings, capital liquidity and perceived risk. We used structural equation modelling to validate the proposed model and hypotheses. We discover that perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, satisfaction, loyalty, habit, expected earnings and capital liquidity positively influence continuance intention. Perceived risk has a negative effect on continuance usage intention. Furthermore, the results also demonstrate that expected earnings and capital liquidity have positive impacts on users’ perceived risk. The capital liquidity has negative influence on expected earnings. The results provide important implications for research and practice in the field of information systems and finance

The analysis of the processes and elements articulating effective Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) constitutes a focal research stream in education. Following these streams, satisfaction and perceived impact on learning have already been stablished as determining aspects of any type of learning and, particularly, of CSCL. The goal of this study was to identify factors affecting students' satisfaction and perception of impact on learning in CSCL. The Partial Least Squares technique was used, applying a questionnaire to 701 students in a virtual university. The proposed model exhibited high predictive performance, confirming the 13 hypotheses established. The variables confirmation, perceived usefulness, and perceived enjoyment positively and significantly influenced students’ satisfaction with CSCL. Perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness positively and significantly influenced attitude, and attitude, together with perceived enjoyment, were determining factors in perceived impact on learning. These are factors that should be considered when designing CSCL to be implemented both at the institutional and class level, and teachers and students should be aware of these interdependencies for CSCL to be successfulThis paper has been written in the context of the research projects: “Ecologías de aprendizaje en la era digital: nuevas oportunidades para la formación del profesorado de educación secundaria” (ECO4LEARN-SE) “Learning ecologies in the digital era: new opportunities for teacher training in secondary education”. Get PDF
Web-based videoconferencing has gained a great momentum worldwide, with extremely high adoption rates during the COVID -19 pandemic. The current study aims to investigate the use of web-based videoconferencing for teaching in the post-COVID-19 landscape. The study proposes and evaluates a model to predict continuance intention to use videoconferencing systems, from the perspective of University teachers. The proposed model combines constructs from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Expectancy Confirmation Model (ECM). Sixty-six academic staff members filled out a survey questionnaire about their attitudes towards continuing using videoconferencing systems for teaching in the post-Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) period. Partial Least Squares (PLS) was used to test the measurement and the structural model. The model explains and predicts 73% of the total variance in continuance intention to use. User satisfaction with web-based videoconferencing and perceived usefulness are the top two strong predictors. Implications for school administrators and instructional designers are discussed

Information systems (IS) or computer-based systems plays a critical role in an organisation’s success, especially in the era of digital economics and among digital organisations take place. IS can facilitate organisation through several courses of information management, which including gathering, processing and disseminating information. The positive impacts of IS in job performance will influence its continuous use. However, lack of research in continuance use of IS poses an obstacle to the growth of this domain. Previous studies have examined continuance intention using the Expectation Confirmation Model (ECM), which provides a basis of investigating IS continuance. ECM employed mainly the three factors to explain behavioural intention, namely confirmation, perceived usefulness, and satisfaction. However, the expansion in today’s business in terms of technology and business models requires a further integration with other factors such as experience, self-efficacy, task technology fit, utilization and perceived support. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop an IS continuance model through the extension of ECM by integrating new factors from other related theories which include Task-Technology Fit (TTF), Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), Social Support Theory (SST), and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The proposed model is evaluated by distributing a survey questionnaires among members of the staff of Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Johor (MAINJ) that use e-Waqf system. The feedback from 115 valid respondents were analysed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) based on Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) technique. The results show that perceived support, self-efficacy, utilization and perceived task technology fit complement behavioural intention factors that involve user satisfaction, perceived usefulness, as well as confirmation towards IS continuance intention. The results further reveal that prior experience have no influence on IS continuance. The outcome of this study would provide the new knowledge in IS continuance domain and provides an opportunity for developing an effective plan of IS continuance in the organisations

Franque, F. B., Oliveira, T., Tam, C., & Santini, F. D. O. (2021). A meta-analysis of the quantitative studies in continuance intention to use an information system. Internet Research, 31(1), 1-36. https://doi.org/10.1108/INTR-03-2019-0103Purpose: This study aims to describe, synthesise and clarify the findings of published studies on individual continuance intention to use an information system (IS), considering the fact that the number of studies in the continuance intention context are growing exponentially and cover several different subjects. Design/methodology/approach: The research uses meta- and weight analysis by taking 115 empirical studies from continuance intention to use an IS. The data are presented in different views using significant and non-significant relationships from all the studies. Furthermore, it uses hierarchical linear meta-analysis to analyse potential moderators that can influence continuance intention. Findings: The results reveal that affective commitment, attitude, satisfaction, hedonic value and flow are the best predictors of continuance intention to use an IS. Sample size, individualism, uncertainty avoidance and long-term orientation moderate the relationship of perceived usefulness on continuance intention. Power distance, masculinity and indulgence moderate relationship satisfaction on continuance intention. Practical implications: The results reveal that continuance intention to use an IS has been studied in different countries, with different cultures; therefore, IS providers should have diversified managing strategies, to ensure the satisfaction of users and long-term usage of their IS. Originality/value: The study provides a systematic overview of the most relevant variables used in the literature, including a temporal analysis of the theoretical models, highlighting the evolution of the constructs and presents a moderation analysis.authorsversionpublishe
