Towards a Personalised Health System
This paper presents a Personalized Healthcare System (PHS), a decision support tool that can adapt to changing conditions, such as aging and illness, in individual patients. The system consists of three components: a unique personalised profile, a collection of web based tools and a web based repository for managing interactions between clinicians and tools. The proposed system makes extensive use of software agents, both for collecting the initial information required to construct a personalized profile and for transporting the information needed to use the on-line decision support tools. The paper discusses the operation of a PHS and suggests possible implementation issues
Tailored Patient Information: Some Issues and Questions
Tailored patient information (TPI) systems are computer programs which
produce personalised heath-information material for patients. TPI systems are
of growing interest to the natural-language generation (NLG) community; many
TPI systems have also been developed in the medical community, usually with
mail-merge technology. No matter what technology is used, experience shows that
it is not easy to field a TPI system, even if it is shown to be effective in
clinical trials. In this paper we discuss some of the difficulties in fielding
TPI systems. This is based on our experiences with 2 TPI systems, one for
generating asthma-information booklets and one for generating smoking-cessation
letters.Comment: This is a paper about technology-transfer. It does not have much
technical conten

A study of personalisation and the factors affecting the uptake of personal budgets by mental health service users in the UK - A research study commissioned by MIND
This project was commissioned by Mind to add to its knowledge base and existing work on Personalisation so as to support individuals to have greater choice and control over their care and support needs. The project was funded by the Department of Health as part of its Strategic Development fund „Personalisation and Choice of Care and Support (IESD1) 2011‟.
This report provides an overview of the main findings of this qualitative study, exploring the concept of personalisation, the factors affecting its operationalisation by voluntary and statutory sector organisations, and service users‟ experiences of its implementation, particularly in relation to what affects their uptake and experience of Personal Budgets. In the course of our investigation into current practice and experience, we have identified a number of barriers and enablers. Our view is that the impact of effective action to tackle the barriers will result in an improved experience of the Personal Budget process and its outcomes for carers and front line staff as well as service users. Recommendations are made for future work in this area
Pemilihan kerjaya di kalangan pelajar aliran perdagangan sekolah menengah teknik : satu kajian kes
This research is a survey to determine the career chosen of form four student
in commerce streams. The important aspect of the career chosen has been divided
into three, first is information about career, type of career and factor that most
influence students in choosing a career. The study was conducted at Sekolah
Menengah Teknik Kajang, Selangor Darul Ehsan. Thirty six form four students was
chosen by using non-random sampling purpose method as respondent. All
information was gather by using questionnaire. Data collected has been analyzed in
form of frequency, percentage and mean. Results are performed in table and graph.
The finding show that information about career have been improved in students
career chosen and mass media is the main factor influencing students in choosing
their career
Re-thinking technology and its growing role in enabling patient empowerment
© The Author(s) 2018. The presence and increase of challenges to eHealth in today’s society have begun to generate doubts about the capability of technology in patient empowerment, especially within the frameworks supporting empowerment. Through the review of existing frameworks and articulation of patient demands, weaknesses in the current application of technology to support empowerment are explored, and key constituents of a technology-driven framework for patient empowerment are determined. This article argues that existing usage of technology in the design, development and implementation of patient empowerment in the healthcare system, although well intentioned, is insufficiently constituted, primarily as a result of fragmentation. Systems theory concepts such as holism and iteration are considered vital in improving the role of technology in enabling patient empowerment
Big data analytics:Computational intelligence techniques and application areas
Big Data has significant impact in developing functional smart cities and supporting modern societies. In this paper, we investigate the importance of Big Data in modern life and economy, and discuss challenges arising from Big Data utilization. Different computational intelligence techniques have been considered as tools for Big Data analytics. We also explore the powerful combination of Big Data and Computational Intelligence (CI) and identify a number of areas, where novel applications in real world smart city problems can be developed by utilizing these powerful tools and techniques. We present a case study for intelligent transportation in the context of a smart city, and a novel data modelling methodology based on a biologically inspired universal generative modelling approach called Hierarchical Spatial-Temporal State Machine (HSTSM). We further discuss various implications of policy, protection, valuation and commercialization related to Big Data, its applications and deployment
