PT. Eterindo Nusa Graha is a company engaged in basic chemical industry that produces synthetic resins and glycerine. One of the raw material for production of synthetic resins is DOP produced 45,000 tons/year. One adjuvant DOP is sodium hydroxide liquid. The raw material is supplied by several companies so that in choosing a major supplier to supply sodium hidroxide is important. Sodium hydroxide liquid supplied by Manunggal indah, Toya indo, and Surya Makmur. In reality the quality of raw materials are sometimes less suitable and delays in delivery have an impact on the production process. So that needs to be measured to determine the supplier's performance. Supplier selection is expected to suit the needs of PT. Eterindo Nusa Graha. This study aims to determine the criteria and sub-criteria supplier selection according to the needs of companies and provides the results of decision-making for the selection of the supplier company. The method used in this study is used AHP weighting of the criteria and sub-criteria and TOPSIS. The results of the research produced 6 criteria and 14 sub-criteria. Of AHP, the weight of the biggest criteria is Quality (0.38651) and Delivery (0.17208), while from TOPSIS method produces major supplier PT. Manunggal indah with positive ideal distance value 0.008558653 and negative ideal distance value 0.04522

The site selection process to optimize renewable facilities has become a relevant issue, mainly due to the variability of such resources. Among the different solutions, Geographic Information Systems in combination with fuzzy logic and Multi-Criteria Decision Making approaches provide a consistent tools to solve these complex decision problems. Moreover, the versatility of GIS software has led to the generation of spatial analysis extensions, such as the fuzzy membership tool transforming the input data into real numbers that belongs to the unit interval. In this work, a comparative study between fuzzy membership tool of ArcGIS software and a combination of the fuzzy MCDM methodologies (AHP-TOPSIS) is applied to optimize the offshore wind site selection. A case study based on the offshore wind resource in the Gulf of Maine is also included and discussed.2020-2

New group decision-making ARCAS approach based on the integration of the SWARA and the ARAS methods adapted for negotiations

    Get PDF
Groups are generally considered to be more effective as compared to single individuals. The practical implementation of Operation Research methods in group negotiations needs simple contexts and clear cause-and-effect relationships easily discernible by everyone. This paper proposes a multi-criteria group decision-making approach allowing decision makers/experts involved in a negotiation process to better express and defend their preferences in the selection of the best alternative. In the proposed approach, the most appropriate alternative is the alternative with the largest number of appearances in the first position or in ranking lists, or the one determined based on negotiations of decision makers/experts. The proposed ARCAS approach is based on the use of the ARAS method, a new normalization procedure, and the SWARA method. In the proposed approach, each decision maker/expert involved in evaluation has an opportunity to set the preferred level of rating for each criterion used in such evaluation. Finally, a case study is presented in order to highlight the proposed approach. The obtained results confirm the usability and efficiency of the proposed approach

A novel sorting method topsis-sort: an applicaiton for tehran environmental quality evaluation

Many real-life problems are multi-objective by nature that requires evaluation of more than one criterion, therefore MCDM has become an important issue. In recent years, many MCDM methods have been developed; the existing approaches have been improved and extended. Multi criteria decision analysis has been regarded as a suitable set of methods to perform sustainability evaluations. Among numerous MCDM methods developed to solve real-life decision problems, Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) continues to work satisfactorily in diverse application areas. In this paper, a novel sorting method (TOPSIS-Sort) based on the classic TOPSIS method is presented. In the TOPSIS-Sort approach an outranking relation is used for sorting purposes. The proposed approach uses characteristic profiles for defining the classes and outranking relation as the preference model. Application of the proposed approach is demonstrated by classifying 22 districts of Tehran into five classes (but none of the districts fits into Classes 4 and 5), representing areas with different levels of environmental quality. An analysis and assessment of the environmental conditions in Tehran helps to identify the districts with the poor environmental quality. Priority should be given to these areas to maintain and improve the quality of environment. The results obtained by the TOPSIS-Sort give credence to its success, because the results of sorting con firm our and specialists’ evaluation of the districts. This research provides appropriate results with respect to the development of sorting models in the form of outranking relations. The model, proposed by this study, is applicable to the other outranking methods such as ELECTRE, PROMETHEE, etc

A method based on TOPSIS and distance measures for hesitant fuzzy multiple attribute decision making

    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to provide a methodology to hesitant fuzzy multiple attribute decision making using technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and distance measures. Firstly, the inadequacies of the existing hesitant fuzzy TOPSIS method are analyzed in detail. Then, based on the developed hesitant fuzzy ordered weighted averaging weighted aver-aging distance (HFOWAWAD) measure, a modified hesitant fuzzy TOPSIS, called HFOWAWAD-TOPSIS is introduced for hesitant fuzzy multiple attribute decision making problems. Moreover, the advantages and some special cases of the HFOWAWAD-TOPSIS are presented. Finally, a numerical example about energy policy selection is provided to illustrate the practicality and feasibility of the developed approach

The integration of fuzzy delphi and fuzzy topsis for pharmaceutical waste treatment selection in the context of green practice

    Get PDF
Pharmaceutical waste should be treated in the best possible manner to avoid harm toward public health and the environment. Thus, green practices can be adopted in treating the waste as effectively as possible. However, research about the best treatment with green features has only been conducted in other countries and cannot be a primary reference for Malaysia due to geographical differences. Practically, an approach to model holistic decision-making for pharmaceutical waste in Malaysia context and evaluate the robustness of the model is essential. Hence, this research develops a decision-making model to select the best treatment for pharmaceutical waste in the context of green practices in Malaysia. By using a systematic literature review and experts’ opinions, a comprehensive list of criteria, sub-criteria, and treatments were successfully collected. The computation of weights for criteria and sub-criteria as well as the ranking of treatments were analysed through Fuzzy Delphi TOPSIS. The results revealed that waste immobilisation (encapsulation) is selected as the best treatment and environmental is the most important criterion as evaluated by a panel of experts. The sensitivity analysis indicated that different combinations of criteria could influence the ranking of the treatments. The developed model contributes to the related stakeholders in waste management to assist the decision-making process. It also expands the knowledge of waste treatment in the perspective of green practices and it is argued to be a trustworthy mechanism to be implemented in Malaysia

Public transport is a critical part of civilization in this decade. The amount of money invested and the criticality of transferring people in an acceptable time and without any conflict made it a challenging problem for managers, especially in metropolises. Absolutely, making effective decisions in this area requires considering different aspects. Waiting time is a key criterion in apprising quality of public transport. In this paper, a real world case study of ranking causes of delay in Tehran (Iran) metro system is solved by developing multi attribute group decision-making VIšeKriterijumska Optimizacija I KOmpromisno Rešenje (in Serbian, VIKOR) method under uncertainty, where this uncertainty is captured by Fuzzy Belief Structures (FBS). The obtained results are then compared with a previously proposed Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method with FBSs. The results show that human related issues, along with the problems related to line and transportation system are the most important causes of delay. The obtained results of the problem seem acceptable for decision makers

The Interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IVIFSs) based on the intuitionistic fuzzy sets combines the classical decision method is in its research and application is attracting attention. After comparative analysis, there are multiple classical methods with IVIFSs information have been applied into many practical issues. In this paper, we extended the classical EDAS method based on cumulative prospect theory (CPT) considering the decision makers (DMs) psychological factor under IVIFSs. Taking the fuzzy and uncertain character of the IVIFSs and the psychological preference into consideration, the original EDAS method based on the CPT under IVIFSs (IVIF-CPT-MABAC) method is built for MAGDM issues. Meanwhile, information entropy method is used to evaluate the attribute weight. Finally, a numerical example for project selection of green technology venture capital has been given and some comparisons is used to illustrate advantages of IVIF-CPT-MABAC method and some comparison analysis and sensitivity analysis are applied to prove this new methods effectiveness and stability.Comment: 48 page
