    Speed Control of Separately Excited DC Motor using Neuro Fuzzy Technique

    This paper uses NEURO FUZZY TECHNIQUE in estimating speed and controlling it for a separately excited DC motor. The rotor speed of the dc motor can be made to follow an arbitrarily selected trajectory. The purpose is to achieve accurate trajectory control of the speed of saperately excited DC Motor, especially when the motor and load parameters are unknown. Such a neuro fuzzy control scheme consists of two parts. One is the neural identifier which is used to estimate the motor speed error (state error or state error derivative). The second is the fuzzy logic controller which is used to generate a control signal for a chopper & speed control of separately excited DC Motor. The purpose of this technique is to achieve accurate trajectory control of the speed. Such a control scheme consists of two parts.     94 p.Esta Tesis realiza una propuesta de un modelado dinámico para el transporte de sólidos lineales deformables (SLD) mediante un equipo de cuadricópteros. En este modelo intervienen tres factores: - Modelado dinámico del sólido lineal a transportar. - Modelo dinámico del cuadricóptero para que tenga en cuenta la dinámica pasiva y los efectos del SLD. - Estrategia de control para un transporte e ciente y robusto. Diferenciamos dos tareas principales: (a) lograr una con guración cuasiestacionaria de una distribución de carga equivalente a transportar entre todos los robots. (b) Ejecutar el transporte en un plano horizontal de todo el sistema. El transporte se realiza mediante una con guración de seguir al líder en columna, pero los cuadricópteros individualmente tienen que ser su cientemente robustos para afrontar todas las no-linealidades provocadas por la dinámica del SLD y perturbaciones externas, como el viento. Los controladores del cuadricóptero se han diseñado para asegurar la estabilidad del sistema y una rápida convergencia del sistema. Se han comparado y testeado estrategias de control en tiempo real y no-real para comprobar la bondad y capacidad de ajuste a las condiciones dinámicas cambiantes del sistema. También se ha estudiado la escalabilidad del sistema

    Value Function Estimation in Optimal Control via Takagi-Sugeno Models and Linear Programming

    [ES] La presente Tesis emplea técnicas de programación dinámica y aprendizaje por refuerzo para el control de sistemas no lineales en espacios discretos y continuos. Inicialmente se realiza una revisión de los conceptos básicos de programación dinámica y aprendizaje por refuerzo para sistemas con un número finito de estados. Se analiza la extensión de estas técnicas mediante el uso de funciones de aproximación que permiten ampliar su aplicabilidad a sistemas con un gran número de estados o sistemas continuos. Las contribuciones de la Tesis son: -Se presenta una metodología que combina identificación y ajuste de la función Q, que incluye la identificación de un modelo Takagi-Sugeno, el cálculo de controladores subóptimos a partir de desigualdades matriciales lineales y el consiguiente ajuste basado en datos de la función Q a través de una optimización monotónica. -Se propone una metodología para el aprendizaje de controladores utilizando programación dinámica aproximada a través de programación lineal. La metodología hace que ADP-LP funcione en aplicaciones prácticas de control con estados y acciones continuos. La metodología propuesta estima una cota inferior y superior de la función de valor óptima a través de aproximadores funcionales. Se establecen pautas para los datos y la regularización de regresores con el fin de obtener resultados satisfactorios evitando soluciones no acotadas o mal condicionadas. -Se plantea una metodología bajo el enfoque de programación lineal aplicada a programación dinámica aproximada para obtener una mejor aproximación de la función de valor óptima en una determinada región del espacio de estados. La metodología propone aprender gradualmente una política utilizando datos disponibles sólo en la región de exploración. La exploración incrementa progresivamente la región de aprendizaje hasta obtener una política convergida.[CA] La present Tesi empra tècniques de programació dinàmica i aprenentatge per reforç per al control de sistemes no lineals en espais discrets i continus. Inicialment es realitza una revisió dels conceptes bàsics de programació dinàmica i aprenentatge per reforç per a sistemes amb un nombre finit d'estats. S'analitza l'extensió d'aquestes tècniques mitjançant l'ús de funcions d'aproximació que permeten ampliar la seua aplicabilitat a sistemes amb un gran nombre d'estats o sistemes continus. L'exploració incrementa progressivament la regió d'aprenentatge fins a obtenir una política convergida.[EN] The present Thesis employs dynamic programming and reinforcement learning techniques in order to obtain optimal policies for controlling nonlinear systems with discrete and continuous states and actions. Initially, a review of the basic concepts of dynamic programming and reinforcement learning is carried out for systems with a finite number of states. After that, the extension of these techniques to systems with a large number of states or continuous state systems is analysed using approximation functions. The contributions of the Thesis are: -A combined identification/Q-function fitting methodology, which involves identification of a Takagi-Sugeno model, computation of (sub)optimal controllers from Linear Matrix Inequalities, and the subsequent data-based fitting of Q-function via monotonic optimisation. -A methodology for learning controllers using approximate dynamic programming via linear programming is presented. The methodology makes that ADP-LP approach can work in practical control applications with continuous state and input spaces. The proposed methodology estimates a lower bound and upper bound of the optimal value function through functional approximators. Guidelines are provided for data and regressor regularisation in order to obtain satisfactory results avoiding unbounded or ill-conditioned solutions. -A methodology of approximate dynamic programming via linear programming in order to obtain a better approximation of the optimal value function in a specific region of state space. The methodology proposes to gradually learn a policy using data available only in the exploration region.     Advanced control designs for output tracking of hydrostatic transmissions

    The work addresses simple but efficient model descriptions in a combination with advanced control and estimation approaches to achieve an accurate tracking of the desired trajectories. The proposed control designs are capable of fully exploiting the wide operation range of HSTs within the system configuration limits. A new trajectory planning scheme for the output tracking that uses both the primary and secondary control inputs was developed. Simple models or even purely data-driven models are envisaged and deployed to develop several advanced control approaches for HST systems

    Intelligent control of a class of nonlinear systems

    The objective of this study is to improve and propose new fuzzy control algorithms for a class of nonlinear systems. In order to achieve the objectives, novel stability theorems as well as modeling techniques are also investigated. Fuzzy controllers in this work are designed based on the fuzzy basis function neural networks and the type-2 Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models. For a class of single-input single-output nonlinear systems, a new stability condition is derived to facilitate the design process of proportional-integral Mamdani fuzzy controllers. The stability conditions require a new technique to calculate the dynamic gains of nonlinear systems represented by fuzzy basis function network models. The dynamic gain of a fuzzy basis function network can be approximated by finding the maximum of norm values of the locally linearized systems or by solving a non-smooth optimal control problem. Based on the new stability theorem, a multilevel fuzzy controller with self-tuning algorithm is proposed and simulated in a tower crane control system. For a class of multi-input multi-output nonlinear systems with measurable state variables, a new method for modeling unstructured uncertainties and robust control of unknown nonlinear dynamic systems is proposed by using a novel robust Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy controller. First, a new training algorithm for an interval type-2 fuzzy basis function network is presented. Next, a novel technique is derived to convert the interval type-2 fuzzy basis function network to an interval type-2 Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. Based on the interval type-2 Takagi-Sugeno and type-2 fuzzy basis function network models, a robust controller is presented with an adjustable convergence rate. Simulation results on an electrohydraulic actuator show that the robust Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy controller can reduce steady-state error under different conditions while maintaining better responses than the other robust sliding mode controllers can. Next, the study presents an implementation of type-2 fuzzy basis function networks and robust Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy controllers to data-driven modeling and robust control of a laser keyhole welding process. In this work, the variation of the keyhole diameter during the welding process is approximated by a type-2 fuzzy-basis-function network, while the keyhole penetration depth is modelled by a type-1 fuzzy basis function network. During the laser welding process, a CMOS camera integrated with the welding system was used to provide a feedback signal of the keyhole diameter. An observer was implemented to estimate the penetration depth in real time based on the adaptive divided difference filter and the feedback signal from the camera. A robust Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy controller was designed based on the fuzzy basis function networks representing the welding process with uncertainties to adjust the laser power to ensure that the penetration depth of the keyhole is maintained at a desired value. Experimental results demonstrated that the fuzzy models provided an accurate estimation of both the welding geometry and its variations due to uncertainties, and the robust Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy controller successfully reduced the penetration depth variation and improved the quality of the welding process

    Dynamic nonlinear inverse-model based control of a twin rotor system using adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system

    A dynamic control system design has been a great demand in the control engineering community, with many applications particularly in the field of flight control. This paper presents investigations into the development of a dynamic nonlinear inverse-model based control of a twin rotor multi-input multi-output system (TRMS). The TRMS is an aerodynamic test rig representing the control challenges of modern air vehicle. A model inversion control with the developed adaptive model is applied to the system. An adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is augmented with the control system to improve the control response. To demonstrate the applicability of the methods, a simulated hovering motion of the TRMS, derived from experimental data is considered in order to evaluate the tracking properties and robustness capacities of the inverse- model control technique
