    Security Enhanced Location-aided Level-based Disjoint Multipath Routing Algorithm for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

    In mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), the location-based multipath routing protocols involves less routing overhead compared to non-location-based protocols. This paper proposes two location-based algorithms, Enhanced Location-aided Level-based node Disjoint Multipath routing (ELLDMR) and Secure Location-aided Level-based node Disjoint Multipath routing (SLLDMR), to enhance the link lifetime and the security of the MANET. The objective of ELLDMR is to build multiple paths with non-critical nodes so that the lifetime of the routing path is significantly increased. It also hides the source, destination and path identity in intermediate nodes to avoid intrusion of routing attacks in the routing path. The SLLDMR is an enhancement over ELLDMR where it aims to overcome rushing attack and exhibit secure data transmission using two-level cryptographic processes. The performances of ELLDMR and SLLDMR are simulated using NS2 where it shows a minimum routing overhead, less end to end delay and high packet delivery compared to existing Location-aided Level-based node Disjoint Multipath routing (LLDMR) algorithm and Topology Hiding multipath protocol (TOHIP)

    As they are used to create open communities, Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs) are not favourable environments to establish trust, which is necessary to provide security. Multipath routing mechanisms within infrastructureless networks environment seems appropriate and useful to enhance security protection. In fact, the level of trust can be increased so as many of potential security attacks are detected, revealed and stopped. Nevertheless an excessive control overhead is always generated. In this paper, we propose a global framework that integrates a set of concepts and mechanisms aiming at enhancing security in highly dynamic decentralized ad hoc networks. Our solution focuses on authentication, routing securing, trust management with reliable estimation of trust.     An ad hoc wireless network is a set of wireless mobile nodes that self-configure to build a network without the requirement for any reputable infrastructure or backbone. Mobile nodes are utilized by the Ad hoc networks to facilitate effective communication beyond the wireless transmission range. As ad hoc networks do not impose any fixed infrastructure, it becomes very tough to handle network services with the available routing approaches, and this creates a number of problems in ensuring the security of the communication. Majority of the existing ad hoc protocols that deal with security issues depends on implicit trust relationships to route packets among participating nodes. The general security objectives like authentication, confidentiality, integrity,availability and nonrepudiation should not be compromised in any circumstances. Thus, security in ad hoc networks becomes an active area of research in the field of networking. There are various techniques available in the literature for providing security to the ad hoc networks.     The multi-path routing scheme provides reliable guarantee for mobile ad hoc network. A new method is proposed that is using to analyze the security of multi-path routing protocol within the framework of Universally Composable (UC) security. Based on the topological model that there exist adversarial nodes, the concept of plausible route is extended and the definition of plausible-route set is presented. Plausible-route set is used in description of the multi-path routing for Ad hoc network, and a formal security definition based on UC-RP is given. A provably Security Multiple Node-Disjoint Paths source routing (SMNDP) is proposed and address secure fault issue of MNDP in the active adversary model. The new approach shows that the security of SMNDP can be reduced to the security of the message authentication code and the digital signature. SMNDP implements the correctness of route discovery process, the authentication of nodes identifier and the integrality of route information

    A Mobile Ad Hoc Network Routing Protocols: A Comparative Study

    Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANET), are complex and distributed networks that are dynamic. Which are infrastructure less and multi-hop in nature. The communication of a node can be either direct or through intermediate nodes without a fixed and dedicated infrastructure. Hence it is necessary to design an efficient routing protocol for ad hoc network which can address the issues of MANET efficiently. In ad hoc, routing algorithms are classified into nine categories namely: source-initiated (reactive), table-driven (proactive), hybrid, hierarchical, multipath, multicast, location-aware, geographical-multicast and power-aware. This paper presents a survey and to review a comparative study about various routing protocols under each of these categories.
