The design of DAS (Direct Adaptive Steering) systems has been used in aviation for a long time. A few months ago a Japanese automotive company, Nissan Motor Co, for the first time introduced a steer-by-wire (no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels of the car) solution - to the automotive world in their Infiniti Q50 car. This article aims to explain the issues related to controlling the car automation system, in which one of the control parameters is the examined turn of the wheels assigned by the driver (or the DAS system)

Using Virtual Instrument in Teaching Automatic Measurement Technology Course

The use of an automatic measurement technology is highly important in current industries. The technology has been sued in various applications such as environment monitoring, quality control of production line, and medical disease analysis. Automatic measurement technology requires programming, facilities integration, control application, function innovation, and maintenance technology. Developing suitable teaching equipment that can satisfy the demand of industry-orientation Automatic Measurement Technology Course (AMTC) is a challenge. In this study, a virtual instrument is introduced to solve the problem. LabVIEW, which is utilized to design virtual instruments, provides powerful functions for instrument control and measurement. Therefore, in this proposed AMTC, anbsp LabVIEW-based virtual instrument system is established as teaching equipment for undergraduate students in colleges of engineering or technology

Towards quality-oriented architecture: Integration in a global context

This paper introduces an architectural framework for developing systems of systems, where the development plants are geographically distributed across different countries. The focus of our ongoing work is on architectural sustainability, in the sense of cost-effective longevity and endurance, and on quality assurance from the perspectives of integration in a global context. The core of our framework are different levels of abstraction, where state-of-the-art industrial development process is extended by the level of remote virtual system representation. Each abstraction level is associated with a different level of context-dependent architecture as well as the corresponding testing approaches

Enabling virtual radio functions on software defined radio for future wireless networks

Today's wired networks have become highly flexible, thanks to the fact that an increasing number of functionalities are realized by software rather than dedicated hardware. This trend is still in its early stages for wireless networks, but it has the potential to improve the network's flexibility and resource utilization regarding both the abundant computational resources and the scarce radio spectrum resources. In this work we provide an overview of the enabling technologies for network reconfiguration, such as Network Function Virtualization, Software Defined Networking, and Software Defined Radio. We review frequently used terminology such as softwarization, virtualization, and orchestration, and how these concepts apply to wireless networks. We introduce the concept of Virtual Radio Function, and illustrate how softwarized/virtualized radio functions can be placed and initialized at runtime, allowing radio access technologies and spectrum allocation schemes to be formed dynamically. Finally we focus on embedded Software-Defined Radio as an end device, and illustrate how to realize the placement, initialization and configuration of virtual radio functions on such kind of devices
