    Effective partitioning method for computing weighted Moore-Penrose inverse

    We introduce a method and an algorithm for computing the weighted Moore-Penrose inverse of multiple-variable polynomial matrix and the related algorithm which is appropriated for sparse polynomial matrices. These methods and algorithms are generalizations of algorithms developed in [M.B. Tasic, P.S. Stanimirovic, M.D. Petkovic, Symbolic computation of weighted Moore-Penrose inverse using partitioning method, Appl. Math. Comput. 189 (2007) 615-640] to multiple-variable rational and polynomial matrices and improvements of these algorithms on sparse matrices. Also, these methods are generalizations of the partitioning method for computing the Moore-Penrose inverse of rational and polynomial matrices introduced in [P.S. Stanimirovic, M.B. Tasic, Partitioning method for rational and polynomial matrices, Appl. Math. Comput. 155 (2004) 137-163; M.D. Petkovic, P.S. Stanimirovic, Symbolic computation of the Moore-Penrose inverse using partitioning method, Internat. J. Comput. Math. 82 (2005) 355-367] to the case of weighted Moore-Penrose inverse.     Finite Ball Intersection Property of the Urysohn Universal Space

    In a paper published posthumously, P.S. Urysohn constructed a complete, separable metric space that contains an isometric copy of every complete separable metric space, nowadays referred to as the Urysohn universal space. Here we study various convexity properties of the Urysohn universal space and show that it has a finite ball intersection property. We also note that Urysohn universal space is not hyperconvex

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p><it>Piper sarmentosum </it>(P.s) has flavonoid component in its leaves which has antioxidative effect. To date, its effect on atherosclerosis has not been studied histologically.</p> <p>Aim</p> <p>The study aimed to investigate the effect of <it>P.s </it>on atherosclerotic changes in hypercholesterolemic rabbits.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Forty two male New Zealand white rabbits were divided into seven groups. C - control group fed normal rabbit chow, CH - cholesterol diet (1% cholesterol), W1 - 1% cholesterol with water extract of <it>P.s </it>(62.5 mg/kg), W2 - 1% cholesterol with water extract of <it>P.s </it>(125 mg/kg), W3 - 1% cholesterol with water extract of <it>P.s </it>(250 mg/kg), W4 - 1% cholesterol with water extract of <it>P.s </it>(500 mg/kg) and Smv - 1% cholesterol supplemented with simvistatin drug (1.2 mg/kg). All rabbits were treated for 10 weeks. Following 10 weeks of supplementation, the animals were sacrificed and the aortic tissue was taken for histological study.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Rabbits fed only with high cholesterol diet 1% cholesterol (CH) showed focal fatty streak lesions compared to the C group and 1% cholesterol supplemented with simvistatin drug (Smv) group. Atherosclerotic lesions in the 1% cholesterol group supplemented with <it>P.s </it>(500 mg/kg) i.e. W4 group showed significant reduction (30 ± 6.0%, p < 0.05) in fatty streak compared to the high cholesterol group (85.6 ± 4.1%) under Sudan IV stain. The atherosclerotic lesions under transmission electron microscope showed reduction in foam cells in the treatment groups compared to the CH groups.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Administration of <it>P.s </it>extract has protective effect against atheroscleros</p

    Excitation energy of superdeformed bands in Relativistic Mean Field Theory

    Constrained Relativistic Mean Field (RMF) calculations have been carried out to estimate excitation energies relative to the ground state for superdeformed bands in the mass regions A \sim 190 and A \sim 150.
