The aim of this paper is to find and elaborate on the current trends in the swarm robotic system, leader-follower, and multi-agent system. Another part of this review will focus on finding the trend of controller utilized by previous researchers in the leader-follower system. The controller that is commonly applied by the researchers is mostly adaptive and non-linear controllers. The paper also explores the subject of study or system used during the research which normally employs multi-robot, multi-agent, space flying, reconfigurable system, multi-legs system or unmanned system. Another aspect of this paper concentrates on the topology employed by the researchers when they conducted simulation or experimental studies

    Experimental comparison of control strategies for trajectory tracking for mobile robots

    The purpose of this paper is to implement, test and compare the performance of different control strategies for tracking trajectory for mobile robots. The control strategies used are based on linear algebra, PID controller and on a sliding mode controller. Each control scheme is developed taking into consideration the model of the robot. The linear algebra approaches take into account the complete kinematic model of the robot; and the PID and the sliding mode controller use a reduced order model, which is obtained considering the mobile robot platform as a black-box. All the controllers are tested and compared, firstly by simulations and then, by using a Pioneer 3DX robot in field experiments.Fil: Capito, Linda.     Robust model predictive kinematic tracking control with terminal region for wheeled robotic systems

    This paper addresses the nonlinear model predictive control (MPC) for wheeled mobile robots (WMRs) under external disturbance. The decoupling technique is utilized based on the non-holonomic constraint description for separating the WMR model. This method is able to achieve the under-actuated kinematic sub-system without disturbance and fully-actuated dynamic sub-system in presence of disturbance. Thanks to the decoupling technique, the disturbance is lumped into dynamic sub-system. The novelty lies in that the MPC-based tracking control with fixed initial point guarantees the stability based on a new establishment of terminal region and equivalent terminal controller. The feasibility problem is demonstrated to lead the tracking problem using theoretical analysis. Moreover, the control structure is inserted more the robust nonlinear dynamic controller. The effectiveness and advantages of the proposed control scheme are verified by numerical simulations using Yamip tool

    Analysis of path following and obstacle avoidance for multiple wheeled robots in a shared workspace

    The article presents the experimental evaluation of an integrated approach for path following and obstacle avoidance, implemented on wheeled robots. Wheeled robots are widely used in many different contexts, and they are usually required to operate in partial or total autonomy: in a wide range of situations, having the capability to follow a predetermined path and avoiding unexpected obstacles is extremely relevant. The basic requirement for an appropriate collision avoidance strategy is to sense or detect obstacles and make proper decisions when the obstacles are nearby. According to this rationale, the approach is based on the definition of the path to be followed as a curve on the plane expressed in its implicit form f(x, y) = 0, which is fed to a feedback controller for path following. Obstacles are modeled through Gaussian functions that modify the original function, generating a resulting safe path which - once again - is a curve on the plane expressed as f\u2032(x, y) = 0: the deformed path can be fed to the same feedback controller, thus guaranteeing convergence to the path while avoiding all obstacles. The features and performance of the proposed algorithm are confirmed by experiments in a crowded area with multiple unicycle-like robots and moving persons
