Web and Semantic Web Query Languages
A number of techniques have been developed to facilitate
powerful data retrieval on the Web and Semantic Web. Three categories
of Web query languages can be distinguished, according to the format
of the data they can retrieve: XML, RDF and Topic Maps. This article
introduces the spectrum of languages falling into these categories
and summarises their salient aspects. The languages are introduced using
common sample data and query types. Key aspects of the query
languages considered are stressed in a conclusion

A graph database is a database where the data structures for the schema
and/or instances are modeled as a (labeled)(directed) graph or generalizations
of it, and where querying is expressed by graph-oriented operations and type
constructors. In this article we present the basic notions of graph databases,
give an historical overview of its main development, and study the main current
systems that implement them
Big Data Guided Resources Businesses – Leveraging Location Analytics and Managing Geospatial-temporal Knowledge
Location data rapidly grow with fast-changing logistics and business rules. Due to fast-growing business ventures and their diverse operations locally and globally, location-based information systems are in demand in resource industries. Data sources in these industries are spatial-temporal, with petabytes in size. Managing volumes and various data in periodic and geographic dimensions using the existing modelling methods is challenging. The current relational database models have implementation challenges, including the interpretation of data views. Multidimensional models are articulated to integrate resource databases with spatial-temporal attribute dimensions. Location and periodic attribute dimensions are incorporated into various schemas to minimise ambiguity during database operations, ensuring resource data's uniqueness and monotonic characteristics. We develop an integrated framework compatible with the multidimensional repository and implement its metadata in resource industries. The resources’ metadata with spatial-temporal attributes enables business research analysts a scope for data views’ interpretation in new geospatial knowledge domains for financial decision support

Information Technology is growing rapidly. Website Personalization Based on Demographic Data
This study focuses on websites personalization based on user's demographic data. The
main demographic data that used in this study are age, gender, race and occupation.
These data is obtained through user profiling technique conducted during the study.
Analysis of the data gathered is done to find the relationship between the user's
demographic data and their preferences for a website design. These data will be used as a
guideline in order to develop a website that will fulfill the visitor's need. The topic chose
was Obesity. HCI issues are considered as one of the important factors in this study
which are effectiveness and satisfaction. The methodologies used are website
personalization process, incremental model, combination of these two methods and
Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) which discussed detail in Chapter 3. After that, we will be
discussing the effectiveness and evaluation of the personalization website that have been
built. Last but not least, there will be conclusion that present the result of evaluation of
the websites made by the respondents
Augmenting IDEs with Runtime Information for Software Maintenance
Object-oriented language features such as inheritance, abstract types, late-binding, or polymorphism lead to distributed and scattered code, rendering a software system hard to understand and maintain. The integrated development environment (IDE), the primary tool used by developers to maintain software systems, usually purely operates on static source code and does not reveal dynamic relationships between distributed source artifacts, which makes it difficult for developers to understand and navigate software systems. Another shortcoming of today's IDEs is the large amount of information with which they typically overwhelm developers. Large software systems encompass several thousand source artifacts such as classes and methods. These static artifacts are presented by IDEs in views such as trees or source editors. To gain an understanding of a system, developers have to open many such views, which leads to a workspace cluttered with different windows or tabs. Navigating through the code or maintaining a working context is thus difficult for developers working on large software systems. In this dissertation we address the question how to augment IDEs with dynamic information to better navigate scattered code while at the same time not overwhelming developers with even more information in the IDE views. We claim that by first reducing the amount of information developers have to deal with, we are subsequently able to embed dynamic information in the familiar source perspectives of IDEs to better comprehend and navigate large software spaces. We propose means to reduce or mitigate the information by highlighting relevant source elements, by explicitly representing working context, and by automatically housekeeping the workspace in the IDE. We then improve navigation of scattered code by explicitly representing dynamic collaboration and software features in the static source perspectives of IDEs. We validate our claim by conducting empirical experiments with developers and by analyzing recorded development sessions
Accelerated Data Delivery Architecture
This paper introduces the Accelerated Data Delivery Architecture (ADDA). ADDA establishes a framework to distribute transactional data and control consistency to achieve fast access to data, distributed scalability and non-blocking concurrency control by using a clean declarative interface. It is designed to be used with web-based business applications. This framework uses a combination of traditional Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) combined with a distributed Not Only SQL (NoSQL) database and a browser-based database. It uses a single physical and conceptual database schema designed for a standard RDBMS driven application. The design allows the architect to assign consistency levels to entities which determine the storage location and query methodology. The implementation of these levels is flexible and requires no database schema changes in order to change the level of an entity. Also, a data leasing system to enforce concurrency control in a non-blocking manner is employed for critical data items. The system also ensures that all data is available for query from the RDBMS server. This means that the system can have the performance advantages of a DDBMS system and the ACID qualities of a single-site RDBMS system without the complex design considerations of traditional DDBMS systems
