Development of an Ada programming support environment database SEAD (Software Engineering and Ada Database) administration manual
Software Engineering and Ada Database (SEAD) was developed to provide an information resource to NASA and NASA contractors with respect to Ada-based resources and activities which are available or underway either in NASA or elsewhere in the worldwide Ada community. The sharing of such information will reduce duplication of effort while improving quality in the development of future software systems. SEAD data is organized into five major areas: information regarding education and training resources which are relevant to the life cycle of Ada-based software engineering projects such as those in the Space Station program; research publications relevant to NASA projects such as the Space Station Program and conferences relating to Ada technology; the latest progress reports on Ada projects completed or in progress both within NASA and throughout the free world; Ada compilers and other commercial products that support Ada software development; and reusable Ada components generated both within NASA and from elsewhere in the free world. This classified listing of reusable components shall include descriptions of tools, libraries, and other components of interest to NASA. Sources for the data include technical newletters and periodicals, conference proceedings, the Ada Information Clearinghouse, product vendors, and project sponsors and contractors
Virtual Office Design For The Effectiveness Of Web_based Office Administration Works
Virtual Office is the science of information technology which is a new thing for some people. The word of virtual has a meaning of visible or tangible, it means that in the future an office is intangible because it will be replaced by a system which is specifically designed to replace the role of office by applying web -based computer programming. Nowdays, Offices have been applied are still using a certain place with a wide range of file and requiring a storage cabinet. These issues triggered the researcher tried to design a virtual office with a concept which is able to handle a variety of problems, ranging from archival storage , searching the archives , phone , video conference , sending letters, categorizing archives and saving faculty and staff data. These concepts developed by the researcher offered well organized data that all files or all archives of administrative office tucked neatly away in a database in well organizing so it made easier in searching a spesific archive. The final objective of the research is the improvement of the workersâ performance because it will shorten the time to manage archives or files. Manufacture of incoming mail, outgoing mail, disposition and also numbering letters will be arranged neatly, thus will increase the effectiveness of a worker. (Abstract
Forensic flavour
Databases often receive an uninspired and uninterested response. The curriculum content of a database module generally involves the design of entity-relationship models, SQL programming, application development and advanced database applications such as data warehousing and data mining. These are often taught within the tired and relatively worn case studies of purchase order systems, retail or health care systems. However the current trend for crime scene investigation drama and the frequent stories in the news of personal tragedies involving incorrect data, missing data or data mix-up capture the attention of many. The truth is that crimes require data investigation and expert database witnesses to provide evidence and this requires database knowledge and skill. This project involved the introduction of a âforensic flavourâ to the teaching of databases as part of an undergraduate Computing Degree to students. The âforensic flavourâ involved introducing investigative and enquiry based learning techniques as well as selecting case studies based around real-life crimes and crime data. The learning objectives remained unchanged for the modules as did the curriculum content. The initial findings are that the students engaged on average 40% better and enjoyed the experience more
Entanglement of macroscopic test masses and the Standard Quantum Limit in laser interferometry
We show that the generation of entanglement of two heavily macroscopic
mirrors with masses of up to several kilograms are feasible with state of the
art techniques of high-precision laser interferometry. The basis of such a
demonstration would be a Michelson interferometer with suspended mirrors and
simultaneous homodyne detections at both interferometer output ports. We
present the connection between the generation of entanglement and the Standard
Quantum Limit (SQL) for a free mass. The SQL is a well-known reference limit in
operating interferometers for gravitational-wave detection and provides a
measure of when macroscopic entanglement can be observed in the presence of
realistic decoherence processes
Measuring nanomechanical motion with an imprecision far below the standard quantum limit
We demonstrate a transducer of nanomechanical motion based on cavity enhanced
optical near-fields capable of achieving a shot-noise limited imprecision more
than 10 dB below the standard quantum limit (SQL). Residual background due to
fundamental thermodynamical frequency fluctuations allows a total imprecision 3
dB below the SQL at room temperature (corresponding to 600 am/Hz^(1/2) in
absolute units) and is known to reduce to negligible values for moderate
cryogenic temperatures. The transducer operates deeply in the quantum
backaction dominated regime, prerequisite for exploring quantum backaction,
measurement-induced squeezing and accessing sub-SQL sensitivity using
backaction evading techniques
