Wax painted – traditional and modern Easter eggs from Krzczonów

Easter eggs from Krzczonów are a piece of tangible heritage of Poland, while manual skills of folk artists is a part of intangible heritage. Easter eggs have been made using the batik technique for an oblivious time. Despite many cultural and social changes, they are still performed in and around Krzczonów. The article discusses the most important elements of the art of writing Easter eggs, techniques, ornaments and the issues of the creators. There are also some customs related to Easter eggs and their origins, as well as their past and present role in the culture of Krzczonów and the whole of Poland. The article is supplemented with drawings and photos of Easter eggs.Tradycja tworzenia pisanek krzczonowskich jest unikatową częścią niematerialnego dziedzictwa kulturowego, zaś zachowane pisanki to część materialnego dziedzictwa. Od niepamiętnych czasów były wykonywane techniką batiku. Mimo wielu zmian kulturowych i społecznych, do dzisiaj są wykonywane na terenie Krzczonowa i okolic, i nie tylko. W artykule mówione zostają najważniejsze elementy sztuki pisankarskiej, technika, ornamentyka oraz problematyka twórców. Przedstawione są także pewne zwyczaje związane z pisankami i ich pochodzenie, a także ich dawna i obecna rola w kulturze Krzczonowa, jak i całej Polski. Całość zostaje uzupełniona rysunkami oraz zdjęciami zachowanych pisanek

Język polski na Kresach [Polish Language in the Eastern Borderlands] by Janusz Rieger Against the Background of Research on Borderland Polish After 2015 This article presents the state of research in the field of studies on Borderland Polish after 2015. The author provides an overview of selected publications which concern the situation of the Polish language in Belarus, Lithuania, Ukraine and in the borderlands, discusses the issues and research problems they consider, and outlines the main areas of research. The article focuses on the contribution of Janusz Rieger to this field of study and on his latest monograph: Język polski na Kresach [The Polish Language in the Eastern Borderlands], published in 2019   Język polski na Kresach Janusza Riegera na tle badań nad polszczyzną kresową po roku 2015 Artykuł przedstawia stan badań nad polszczyzną kresową po 2015 roku. Przemyśl. Miasto Twierdza oraz Twierdza Przemyśl. Razem czy osobno na drodze do pomnika historii

The article discusses issues concerning the choice and difficult selection of historic buildings from the area of the city of Przemyśl, which were put forward for inclusion in the list of Monuments of History. Due to geographical and historical factors, it was decided to place the main emphasis on the military value of the city. In the application for the list of monuments of history, apart from the old town within the remnants of the city walls, the list of objects was extended to include castellated Carmelite, Franciscan (FPOs) and Benedictine monasteries, in Zasanie, whose fortifications supported the defense of the city. The buildings of the barracks of the Fortress were also selected. All these elements made up a very large area, “insularly” scattered around the city and neighboring communes, with a varying degree of preservation of the historical substance. The text discusses the problem of the extent of the entry on the list of Historical Monuments, landscape, historical and artistic values of the city, the issues of protection and increasing the tourist value, and also poses a question about further prospects for the development of the city and the Fortress.W artykule poruszone zostały zagadnienia dotyczące wyboru i trudnej selekcji obiektów zabytkowych z terenu miasta Przemyśla, jakie zostały wybrane do wpisu na listę Pomników Historii RP. Z uwagi na czynniki geograficzno-historyczne zdecydowano się główny akcent położyć na wartość militarną miasta. We wniosku na listę pomników historii RPoprócz starego miasta w obrębie pozostałości murów miejskich listę obiektów poszerzono o inkastelowane klasztory karmelitów, reformatów i benedyktynek na Zasaniu, których umocnienia wspierały obronność miasta. Wybrano również znajdujące się na terenie miasta obiekty zaplecza koszarowego Twierdzy. Wszystkie te elementy złożyły się na bardzo rozległy, rozlokowany „wyspowo” na terenie miasta i gmin sąsiednich obszar o zróżnicowanym stopniu zachowania substancji zabytkowej. W referacie poruszono problem rozległości wpisu na listę Pomników Historii RP, wartości krajobrazowe i historyczno-artystyczne miasta, problem ochrony i podniesienia wartości turystycznej, a także postawiono pytanie o dalsze perspektywy rozwoju miasta i Twierdzy

Zbiory funeralne w zasobach Pracowni Dokumentów Życia Społecznego Biblioteki Uniwersyteckiej w Poznaniu – nekrologi i obrazki komemoratywne

This article focuses on the collection of funeral notices and memorabilia held in the resources of the Social Life Documents unit of the University Library in Poznań. The collection includes a large number of funeral notices and commemorative cards. Both types of texts can be  distinguished by their function and characteristic features, though both are related components of the consituation of the contents of the text in terms of their approach to  identifying the death of a specific person. Both funeral notices and funeral cards provide significant insights and constitute an important source in relevant social research that supports a deeper understanding of our communities.Tekst traktuje o zbiorach funeralnych znajdujących się w zasobach Pracowni Dokumentów Życia Społecznego Biblioteki Uniwersyteckiej w Poznaniu. Należą do nich m.in. nekrologii oraz obrazki komemoratywne. Oba rodzaje  tekstów można zróżnicować ze względu na funkcję i cechy zewnętrzne, łączy je natomiast konsytuacyjność w odniesieniu do śmierci konkretnej osoby. Zarówno  nekrologi, jak i karty pogrzebowe pozostają ważnym źródłem do badań

Ethnobotanical and faunistic aspects in the archaeological interpretation of the 17th and 18th century coffin burials in the Basilica of the Holy Trinity in Strzelno (Kuyavia, Poland)

Botanical analyses of samples taken from four coffin burials dated to the 17th and 18th centuries, located inside the Basilica of the Holy Trinity, at the Norbertine convent in Strzelno, in Kuyavia, revealed presence of thirteen plant taxa and numerous remains of Fannia canicularis pupae found among the plant remains. The practical and decorative properties of these plants,as well as their traditional symbolic meaning and application in the burial customs, have been discussed. The study provided new information on local funeral customs and allowed for the indication of the approximate timing of each of the examined burials, significantly enriching the data obtained by archaeologists

CARNIVAL VS. LENT: THE CARNIVALIZATION OF THE FAMILY IMAGE IN GABRIEL GARCÍA MÁRQUEZ’S DEATH AND FUNERAL OF MAMMA GRANDE AND ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE This article presents a socio-critical analysis of the family image in two works by Gabriel García Márquez: the short story Death and Funeral of Mamma Grande and the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude. In the literary cosmos of Macondo, the social microstructure that is the family is at the center around which a discursive image of the world is constructed. In this perspective, the strategy of carnivalization becomes particularly important, allowing for a subversive portrayal of the dominant ideological projects and axiological patterns present in Colombian realities, and more broadly speaking, Latin American ones. The creation of family portraits reveals a “carnivalesque worldview” rooted in popular laughter culture. Parody, grotesque realism, and carnival laughter are tools for criticizing dogmatic and hierarchical orders of power and official culture language

I zawiera opracowanie architektoniczne krypt, kobiece nakrycia głowy, wstążki, szkaplerze, drewniane trumny, odzież grobowa i sposoby mumifikacji ciał osób pochowanych w kryptach.Jest to zbiór artykułów na temat pochówków w kryptach kościoła p.w. Imienia NMP w Szczuczynie. Dzięki odpowiednim warunkom panującym w kryptach ciała zmarłych zostały poddane procesom mumifikacyjnym. Miało to istotny wpływ na zachowanie odzieży, w którą zostali ubrani zmarli z rodziny Stanisława Antoniego Szczuki i okolicznej szlachty. Dzięki badaniom archeologicznym zespołu archeologów z UMK można było odtworzyć pełen ubiór wykonany nie tylko z jedwabiu ale także z lnu i wełny
