Intelligent business processes composition based on mas, semantic and cloud integration (IPCASCI)
[EN]Component reuse is one of the techniques that most clearly contributes to the
evolution of the software industry by providing efficient mechanisms to create quality
software. Reuse increases both software reliability, due to the fact that it uses
previously tested software components, and development productivity, and leads to a
clear reduction in cost.
Web services have become are an standard for application development on cloud
computing environments and are essential in business process development. These
services facilitate a software construction that is relatively fast and efficient, two
aspects which can be improved by defining suitable models of reuse. This research
work is intended to define a model which contains the construction requirements of
new services from service composition. To this end, the composition is based on
tested Web services and artificial intelligent tools at our disposal.
It is believed that a multi-agent architecture based on virtual organizations is a
suitable tool to facilitate the construction of cloud computing environments for
business processes from other existing environments, and with help from ontological
models as well as tools providing the standard BPEL (Business Process Execution
Language). In the context of this proposal, we must generate a new business process
from the available services in the platform, starting with the requirement
specifications that the process should meet. These specifications will be composed of a
semi-free description of requirements to describe the new service.
The virtual organizations based on a multi-agent system will manage the tasks
requiring intelligent behaviour. This system will analyse the input (textual description
of the proposal) in order to deconstruct it into computable functionalities, which will
be subsequently treated. Web services (or business processes) stored to be reused
have been created from the perspective of SOA architectures and associated with an
ontological component, which allows the multi-agent system (based on virtual
organizations) to identify the services to complete the reuse process.
The proposed model develops a service composition by applying a standard BPEL
once the services that will compose the solution business process have been
identified. This standard allows us to compose Web services in an easy way and
provides the advantage of a direct mapping from Business Process Management

Combining SOA and BPM Technologies for Cross-System Process Automation
This paper summarizes the results of an industry case study that introduced a cross-system business process automation solution based on a combination of SOA and BPM standard technologies (i.e., BPMN, BPEL, WSDL). Besides discussing major weaknesses of the existing, custom-built, solution and comparing them against experiences with the developed prototype, the paper presents a course of action for transforming the current solution into the proposed solution. This includes a general approach, consisting of four distinct steps, as well as specific action items that are to be performed for every step. The discussion also covers language and tool support and challenges arising from the transformation
Supporting orchestration of blended CSCL scenarios in distributed learning environments
El diseño y gestión en tiempo real de escenarios de aprendizaje colaborativo soportado por ordenador (en inglés, CSCL) es una tarea compleja y difícilmente realizable por profesores no expertos, que en los últimos años ha dado en denominarse "orquestación". La presente tesis doctoral profundiza en este concepto de orquestación, y de hecho la primera contribución de la tesis es un marco conceptual para caracterizar la orquestación, destinada a su uso por científicos en el campo del CSCL, validado mediante dos paneles de científicos del CSCL. La tesis también propone los "patrones atómicos" como herramientas conceptuales para que profesores no expertos realicen dicha orquestación, y que se han validado mediante cuatro talleres con profesores de educación primaria y superior. Learning and teaching resource are available on the Web - both in terms of digital learning content and people resources (e.g. other learners, experts, tutors). They can be used to facilitate teaching and learning tasks. The remaining challenge is to develop, deploy and evaluate Social information retrieval (SIR) methods, techniques and systems that provide learners and teachers with guidance in potentially overwhelming variety of choices. The aim of the SIRTEL’09 workshop is to look onward beyond recent achievements to discuss specific topics, emerging research issues, new trends and endeavors in SIR for TEL. The workshop will bring together researchers and practitioners to present, and more importantly, to discuss the current status of research in SIR and TEL and its implications for science and teaching
Digital Transformation of the Design, Construction and Management Processes of the Built Environment
This open access book focuses on the development of methods, interoperable and integrated ICT tools, and survey techniques for optimal management of the building process. The construction sector is facing an increasing demand for major innovations in terms of digital dematerialization and technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, advanced manufacturing, robotics, 3D printing, blockchain technologies and artificial intelligence. The demand for simplification and transparency in information management and for the rationalization and optimization of very fragmented and splintered processes is a key driver for digitization. The book describes the contribution of the ABC Department of the Polytechnic University of Milan (Politecnico di Milano) to R&D activities regarding methods and ICT tools for the interoperable management of the different phases of the building process, including design, construction, and management. Global Technical Communication and Content Management: A Study of Multilingual Quality
The field of technical communication (TC) is facing a dilemma. Content management (CM) strategies and technologies that completely reshape writing and translation practices are adopted in an increasing number of TC work groups. One driving factor in CM adoption is the promise of improving quality of multilingual technical texts, all the while reducing time/cost of technical translation and localization. Yet, CM relies on automation and privileges consistency¯an approach that is problematic in global TC with its focus on adapting texts based on the characteristics of end-users.
To better understand the interdisciplinary dilemma of multilingual quality in CM, during my dissertation project I conducted a twelve-month long qualitative case study of multilingual quality at a leading manufacturer of medical equipment who had adopted CM strategies and technologies to create technical texts in several languages three years before my study began. In my study, I drew upon an interdisciplinary theoretical base (genre ecology framework, activity theory, actor-network theory, and Skopos theory) to examine the construction of multilingual quality understandings and approaches by global TC stakeholders who are employees and contractors of the company and the role of CM in their practices.
Examination of the extensive data I collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, document collection/content analysis, and software exploration uncovered the staggering disconnects in understandings of and approaches to multilingual quality. These disconnects resulted from the lack communication between stakeholders and were promoted by the different relations to CM technology and the mediating work of the new genre, chunks of content. Inhibited knowledge sharing, risk of expertise invisibility and loss, and constrained new ideas about improving multilingual quality were some of the rhetorical, social, and political implications of these disconnects.
As a result of my analysis, I sketched strategies for achieving contextualized multiple-stakeholder approaches to multilingual quality and outlined leadership possibilities for technical communicators in global information development. This analysis provides TC practitioners with strategies for improving multilingual quality in CM contexts; TC educators with ideas for expanding teaching approaches by combining digital and cross-cultural literacies; and TC researchers with opportunities for rhetorical action through critiquing, theorizing, and innovating CM
